    I was subdividing the actual object geometry & getting crappy displacement results. I totally forgot about subdividing via the Arnold Parameters tag. Of course! Another lifesaver tutorial. Thanks!

    Thank you for this..there are so many tutorials on Arnold that make it so *!&*(ing complicated. This was so easy and only took a few minutes. Thank you!

      Believe Moe I know! I sit here reading through the docs half of my day or watching tutorials trying to figure it out. Half the time it's not that complicated they just made it way too difficult. Thats why I created this channel I figured I am not the only guy in the world try to figure this out. Please make sure to subscribe and thanks for the comment.

    Thanks for this tutorial. It really helped a lot. But why does the displacement freak out the moment I enable the subdivision surface modifier?

    Thanks for this trick. It’s like a new shortcut 😉 Can you tell me please your MacOs et C4D version?

    Thank you so much. your tutorials are simple and straightforward. Thank you. Can I ask what kind of studio object you are using?

    • @mphillipsphotography7013
      @mphillipsphotography7013  Před 3 lety

      I am assuming you are referring to the backdrop and lighting. For the backdrop, its just a cube that is made edible and I delete all the sides of the cube besides the back and bottom and put into a subdivision surface to make it like a cycle wall. For lighting, in these tutorial I generally just use the built in C4D studio HDRI and copy the image and add it to the texture field in of the Arnold sky object.

      @@mphillipsphotography7013 yeah that makes sense. Ok I have 2 other questions.
      1. How do you generally go about adding labels to models(esp glass), i usually have to use the alpha stacking and I was wondering if there is a shorter way; layer shader gets tricky sometimes.
      2. Whats the correct way of connecting ambient occlusion maps in arnold?

    • @mphillipsphotography7013
      @mphillipsphotography7013  Před 3 lety

      When you say Alpha (stacking) I would have to see what you are referencing. The easiest way I have found is as following:
      1) Create glass texture
      2) Create Standard_Surface for label
      3) Use Image node to connect to Standard_Surface color. (Make sure the image you are using for your label was saved with Alpha - Example .png)
      4) Apply Glass texture
      5) Make a selection of where you would like to add label and apply the 2nd texture with your label to that selection.
      6) Set the correct projection method for label and disable tiling.
      7) In object manager double click your label texture.
      8) Now in Attributes window you should see the following - Basic | Material | Alpha(stacking) | Assign
      9) Select Alpha(stacking)
      10) Mode - Drop down menu select "Shader"
      11) Shader - Drop down menu select image(image) (or if you renamed the image node choose what ever you called it example - "Label(image)"
      12) Verify use alpha channel is selected
      13) Now you can just choose "Use Texture Mode" to move your label around, scale, etc.
      As for Ambient Occlusion I will have to look into but hope this helps.

    I just watched your Layer Shader and RGBA video, if I'm using a PBR texture, how do I blend the displacement maps to match the mix of my PBR's? Great video's btw!

    Thank you very much for sharing. But I have a question, that is, how do you make the edge hard? The edges I made are not hard.

    • @mphillipsphotography7013
      @mphillipsphotography7013  Před 3 lety +1

      The more geometry your model has the more detail it will have. Either add more segments to your geometry or more subdivisions.

      Connect a Bitmap node -> to normal node -> input then connect to your standard_surface Geometry Normal
