    My damned local stores imposed a 3 pack limit per customer back around the 3rd series because they where so popular and they wanted to let more customers have a chance to buy them. Also my elementary school banned them. Sadly I didn't hold onto them after my childhood but thanks to ebay I've been reunited with a brand new box of unoponed series 3 and 7 and I got a complete series 3 including all color variations (color of the number on the card) in mint condition. Why is nostalgia so powerful? I also bought 6 original 80s arcade machines lol. I can't believe there's original 80s GPK cards still brand new in the boxes, crazy... Not sure I have it in me to open up any of the wax packs, something cool about having an entire box since my local stores had a 3 pack limit per customer.

    I was not born in the 80s or before so I never knew anything about gpk until one day I was watching yt on a candy store that sold vintage ones. Then later that day I saw a pack of We Hate the 90s and started to collect them. I went to that candy store and now I have a collection a little over 300! Who knew watching yt would have me collecting stuff from the 80s

    I use to collect baseball cards back in the 80's and 90's and then I seen these garbage pail kids cards and was trading people for theirs. This brings back lots of memories for me. I was born in 77 and I remember nyolators I use to eat those as a kid all the time.

  • @davidmenke7552
    @davidmenke7552 Před 2 lety +1

    Oh man! The nostalgia! I feel it! The exhilaration of going to Rexall Drug and seeing an unfamiliar looking GPK box and upon closer inspection it was a NEW SERIES!!!! Best feeling ever. I miss that...the pre-internet days when we had no firm advanced notice when anything new was about to come out (trading cards, TV episodes, some movies, music, magazines, books, etc.) We pretty much just went to the stores and BOOM found whatever that new thing was! I collected these growing up but always put the stickers on my walls and book covers. I eventually lost all of them over the years. In 3rd grade, April 1987, I chopped the tip of my finger off in a door hinge at school. Needless to say I was home for awhile and got lots of attention. One of the things my Dad brought home was these brand new GPK posters- they came out I think in between the 7th and 8th series perhaps. Those were awesome. So many memories. You guys seem super cool. I'd totally be your friend.

    • @NerdOutWithMe
      @NerdOutWithMe  Před 7 lety +2

      From Brainy Brian: "Yes Jeff, you absolutely have a real card. There were a few more triple cards and that's it, all of which are usually a result of some copyright infringement of some celebrities name, and then they needed to change it. (Woody Allen was one of them for example.)"
      "So that Crystal Gayle card got turned into Ig Lou. I'd like to say they were worth a lot, but they are not too difficult to come by. Those cards are from the original series 4 and they were about three or four triple cards in that set. You can buy the whole set with all the variations for about $20 in mint-condition. Sadly it's not worth too much, but it is a cool piece of GPK History to have. Hold on to those things!"

I have zipper pulls, jewelry sets, balloons, a Halloween costume, and even the coveted Garbage can. It looked like he had a box of "other stuff" but it never got discussed! I'd love to see the bubble set or stamp kit most of all! Also, I'm a lady. I don't think GPK was gender specific, at least not for me. It didn't feel like a 'boys thing' . They did an excellent job in that aspect.

    It's funny because my Dad always told me that it was silly to be collecting these cards. I began collecting them in 85. Everyone is in mint condition in a book ware each card is placed in a pouch.I have them in order.For example the first one ,1A - Nasty Nick sold for 14,000 . with his brother Evil Eddie - still expensive ( same card) different name.Evil Eddie sold for around 7000.Like Atom Bomb, Dead Ted, Jay Decay , which is the first one another expensive one.others we're like 800 Buck a piece.By the time the I sold All The seriese.The total I got was around One hundred thousand dollars.
