I live in both LA and BC - I rent in LA and I own a condo in BC... this is my LA rental! 2. Lavender and Gallop live in BC and when I'm not there they live with my dad or a trusted friend who I pay to live in my place with them. 3. I usually do reuse furniture from old apartments when I move, but all of the furniture from my previous LA apartments was moved to BC and it cost too much to move it back so I had to start fresh with no furniture/decor and that's why I wanted to do it on a budget, because decorating with nothing is expensive!
I love your home! The colours and eclectic furniture fit you very well. I am intensely envious of that fluffy loveseat and your gorgeous rocking chair! You've created a very cozy, welcoming space. I am so happy for you, I can imagine that it feels like a relief to get home now.
I love the burnt orange dining room! its the same color as my comforter and the warmth but also not too in your face, not too bright, is perfect. The velvet texture sounds lovely. The multiple textures, the locally made things, the couch, its so lovely 😍 It makes me happy that you love your space! I recently moved into a studio and am living in my own space for the first time, its so fun to be almost 30 and decide what actually gives you joy as a unique person! Mines a lot of plants, candles, colors are burnt orange, deep sage, whites, creams and then lots of eclectic textures in the plant pots, blankets. art is sort of jungle, nature explorer on the walls and coasters. All im missing is the sweet animals! ❤
I think it would be fun to bring Molly into 2 different spaces that are total opposite. 1 colorful and one neutral. I would love to see her describe the rooms and see if the color bring an energy difference that can be felt outside of sight. Like without Molly knowing which room she is in and just let her explore the room without someone telling her colors.
Ohh, such an interesting idea!! One thing I find interesting is that I generally gravitate towards colorful clothes when shopping, even though I don't know they're colorful. This is part of why I believe you can feel color!
Hey Molly! As a fellow blind gal who loves interior design, you nailed it! I can see color, and the way you described your place fits it perfectly. I laughed so hard when you said if not don’t tell me about the rocking chair. My husband corrected me about the color of a bench I’ve had and liked for years, now I hate it, it’s the wrong color and It sticks out as wrong now. He says but you can’t tell it’s wrong, you apparently didn’t know for years…😂

Honestly, you did such an amazing job pulling it all together! I'm a big fan of consignment shops and buying second hand and you shouldn't apologize if things aren't to everyone's taste. I think in pulling these items together you managed to make a space that looks and feels cohesive and surprisingly grown up for how much color there is. It's challenging for sighted people to pull together bold spaces like this, so kudos for doing it and doing it well! I feel like the only things that feel out of place are the nightstands in the bedroom, the whitewash on the drawer front reads more shabby chic when the rest of the room is very mid-century and eclectic. I feel like eclectic, modern, and maximalist really describe the style you pulled together well!
Thank you so much! And you're right, I really don't care if people like it because I do! And I definitely agree with you, the dining table and nightstands would be the first items I'd replace / resell down the line. They were two of the first items I got, so I wasn't really sure how the rest would come together. I also just had a hard time finding side tables I liked, so when I found such high quality ones I just went for it! haha I think it works well enough for now though and I'm in no rush to change it... if something happened to come along I'd consider selling them to replace, but I won't be going out of my way. :)
I'm not blind, but I'm autistic and I've gotta say your apartment seems like a sensory dream! the colors are so bright and happy without being too intense, and all the textures look so cozy. definitely a perfect place to relax and meet stim needs after a long day. hope you enjoy it!

I've never watched a home tour video with not only such a gorgeous home that brings out the personality of the person, but with such an inspiring message and feeling. "Sometimes imperfect things are actually more beautiful" - this almost made me cry. And the message that you don't have to spend a lot of money and give into keeping up with everyone else to have a beautiful place that is authentically you. This video has really inspired me and I really appreciate the positive messages in your channel and embracing who you are.
Seeing the view in the kitchen I was so impressed with how nice it looked. The colours, the size, and the art tying it all together. Really brings a smile to the face!
I have lived in my house for 38 years, will be 39 in January. I have bought a few things new, but the room I am currently using as a bedroom was my wife's before she passed in February. Almost all the furniture, except the currently buried roll top desk was new. The roll top was bought for $600 from a family that just didn't have room for it after their mother passed away. It was my wife's dream piece and I will admit I have always loved them too. In the room I had before has a set of drawers for some of my crafting supplies and 2 sets of cube-type short chest-things that I have one on top of the other, a short desk with 2 filing cabinets as support. The drawers I inherited from a friend, the bed I got off freecycle and I also inherited the jewelry cabinet from the friend.
I love the paint! My parents house had all white walls which I hated, but I wasn't sure if I could love colorful walls. Thank you for showing me that I could have a beautiful and colorful living space. Keep doing what makes you happy and feel good. You inspire me and so many others. Love you, girl!

ELTON JOHN! 🥺😍 I have a long haired dog (Old English Sheepdog) since she was a puppy. I wanted her to sleep on the bed with me and she did up until she transitioned into her adult fur. I think it's because long haired dogs just get way too hot on the bed with us and all the pillows/covers. That might be why Elton doesn't prefer it :) I absolutely ADORE your ENTIRE apartment! It's the best one yet! Very you, which is the most important part 💚🧡

I love the fluffy textures so I'm in love with the fluffy sofa, velvet chairs in the dinning room look so soft! And the one next to the make-up table is so cute; the light pink velvet goes perfectly with the brass circular-leg; I think it's my most favorite thing in the aparmant! Yellow is my favorite color and I love pink with it slowly because of cost I have light grey yellow and pink in my home 💛 I'm glad someone else loves yellow and pink as well! Also sunflowers are my favorite with some daisys mixed in it

I think your place looks super Instagram worthy! The only thing I would suggest is buying stuffing and use that to fill out the seat cushion of your thrift ed loveseat. Over time the stuffing gets compressed. But adding more is an easy fix. You could use the stuffing from inside a regular pillow if that's cheaper than buying stuffing. I just did that to one of my throw pillows that was looking flat after too much wear. Anyways, I absolutely love the chic seventies aesthetic of your apartment!
Another tip for things like recycling or upcycling furniture: if needed or if possible, replace the foam when the upholstery is good, or replace the upholstery if the foam is good. My couch foam was getting worn out, but the upholstery was still fine and I like my couch, so I got new foam and it was basically like getting a new couch.

Amazing space!! Try pendant lamps (cord with bulb on the end) and any lamp shade or paper lantern style fixture for a hanging light above a dining space - or any space! Excellent for rental spaces; no wiring required :)
I have watched all of your apartment tour videos and just personally never loved any of them! And never felt that you were super connected to the pieces were just kind of being trendy. I LOVE this place! I always felt that we have similar taste and now I see it! This place is apartment goals!! It’s breathtaking and beautiful!! And I can tell you are in love with it!! My home is very eclectic too but I love it. I love purple, tigers, wiccan things, miniture knick knacks, anything Native American Indian, family photos, artworks in different forms (on porcelain plates, postcards, photos reproduced onto stretched canvases, oil paintings on canvas or velvet, photo collages, woven art, carved art, I even have 3 eagle feathers that have been put together and had a scene painted on them...anything that is different and unique). Most of my furniture was thrifted or hand-me-downs as well, I have a chair in my lounge that was my Grandma's, I have a cabinet that was a wedding present of Mum and Dad's (from 1960). Most of my knic knacks were my Grandma's or Mum and Dad's and things that I was given as a child, found in thrift stores or pieces from my travels over the years. I love that my home is made up of things that are "me" and not made to look like some trendy space from a lifestyle magazine.
Molly, as an interior designer by trade, you absolutely killed it! It fits your style and is functional yet beautiful. I think you'd have a wonderful career in interior design if you ever wanted a change. Plus, as a disabled designer myself, we are always in need of more disability representation in the field!

Maybe it’s because yellow is my all time favorite color, but I love this so much!!!!! All of it! My favorite thing is Elton’s black fur up again that bright yellow bed! I hope when you get a better bed you can get yellow because it matches him and your bedroom so well! If I were a single woman and someone said “hey you get to live here” I would say “hell yeah!!!”

I love SO MUCH this house! I am changing home right now, even if I had to go back with my family (here we know well how disability and work can be difficult things to stay together) and I’m in the exact same place as you. After all these years of depression and mental health illnesses, I’m renovating things I already have (mine, from my mother or her partner ect) and changing the aesthetics with a lot of colors. I need them so much, and a vibrant, kinda vintage from ‘70 and a bit maximalist style is something I never fought was for me but I TOTALLY LIVE FOR IT 💖 So thanks for the inspiration, I will try a thrift shop the next month to see if I find some cheap but cool things to match and love.

Wow, Molly. The entire apartment is just beautiful. All of the touches are perfect! My favorite is the mustard couch with the Parisian painting above it. All of the colors in the painting go soooo well with the couch and the throw pillows! Nice job!
Get some fabric paints and paint the canvas on the outdoor chairs to brighten it up Molly, you could do stripes the same colour as the swing chair but put them horizontally to differentiate. ❤

Just a reminder if you are renting, check with your landlord if it’s okay to paint the walls. It would also be on your lease. If you’re renting at a big corporate owned complex, most likely they will allow it with the condition of re painting it back white when you leave or they keep your security deposit. Always best to check. If they tell you no, you can always do an accent wall with patterned contact paper as it’s easy to remove with no residue on the wall. Adhesive wall paper is a pain to take down as it comes off in pieces with adhesive left on the wall.
There is a Kintsugi charity in the UK. They do classes in person and virtually to help with your mental health. They also sold necklaces which were lovely.

Hi Molly! You might have answered this question before, but I’m super curious whether you can explain how you match colors in a space without a clear color memory. I remember you mentioned that you connect colors with feelings and places (like turquoise with clear tropical water), and am wondering whether the “essence” of certain colors is what you imagine and follow when color pairing. I’m imagining it being similar to how one can imagine the taste of a meal one has never had by the listing of the main ingredients- like you might think “this food combo sounds amazing” even if you haven’t had it before.

I have lived in my house for 38 years, will be 39 in January. I have bought a few things new, but the room I am currently using as a bedroom was my wife's before she passed in February. Almost all the furniture, except the currently buried roll top desk was new. The roll top was bought for $600 from a family that just didn't have room for it after their mother passed away. It was my wife's dream piece and I will admit I have always loved them too. In the room I had before has a set of drawers for some of my crafting supplies and 2 sets of cube-type short chest-things that I have one on top of the other, a short desk with 2 filing cabinets as support. The drawers I inherited from a friend, the bed I got off freecycle and I also inherited the jewelry cabinet from the friend.

ELTON JOHN! 🥺😍 I have a long haired dog (Old English Sheepdog) since she was a puppy. I wanted her to sleep on the bed with me and she did up until she transitioned into her adult fur. I think it's because long haired dogs just get way too hot on the bed with us and all the pillows/covers. That might be why Elton doesn't prefer it :)

I love the fluffy textures so I'm in love with the fluffy sofa, velvet chairs in the dinning room look so soft! And the one next to the make-up table is so cute; the light pink velvet goes perfectly with the brass circular-leg; I think it's my most favorite thing in the aparmant! You know, I'm 23 and in wheelchair and my dream is to get my own apartmant one day that I could adapt to my needs and decorate how I would want it. And your apartmant is the the closest to the idea that I have in my head decoration-wise! I love it. I'm so happy for you that you got the aparmant how you wanted it! Enjoy it! Yellow is my favorite color and I love pink with it slowly because of cost I have light grey yellow and pink in my home 💛 I'm glad someone else loves yellow and pink as well! Also sunflowers are my favorite with some daisys mixed in it

I think your place looks super Instagram worthy! The only thing I would suggest is buying stuffing and use that to fill out the seat cushion of your thrift ed loveseat. Over time the stuffing gets compressed. But adding more is an easy fix. You could use the stuffing from inside a regular pillow if that's cheaper than buying stuffing. I just did that to one of my throw pillows that was looking flat after too much wear. Anyways, I absolutely love the chic seventies aesthetic of your apartment!
Another tip for things like recycling or upcycling furniture: if needed or if possible, replace the foam when the upholstery is good, or replace the upholstery if the foam is good. My couch foam was getting worn out, but the upholstery was still fine and I like my couch, so I got new foam and it was basically like getting a new couch.

Amazing space!! Try pendant lamps (cord with bulb on the end) and any lamp shade or paper lantern style fixture for a hanging light above a dining space - or any space! Excellent for rental spaces; no wiring required :)
I have watched all of your apartment tour videos and just personally never loved any of them! And never felt that you were super connected to the pieces were just kind of being trendy. My home is very eclectic too but I love it. I love purple, tigers, wiccan things, miniture knick knacks, anything Native American Indian, family photos, artworks in different forms (on porcelain plates, postcards, photos reproduced onto stretched canvases, oil paintings on canvas or velvet, photo collages, woven art, carved art, I even have 3 eagle feathers that have been put together and had a scene painted on them...anything that is different and unique). Most of my furniture was thrifted or hand-me-downs as well, I have a chair in my lounge that was my Grandma's, I have a cabinet that was a wedding present of Mum and Dad's (from 1960). Most of my knic knacks were my Grandma's or Mum and Dad's and things that I was given as a child, found in thrift stores or pieces from my travels over the years. I love that my home is made up of things that are "me" and not made to look like some trendy space from a lifestyle magazine.

Maybe it’s because yellow is my all time favorite color, but I love this so much!!!!! All of it! My favorite thing is Elton’s black fur up again that bright yellow bed! I love SO MUCH this house! I am changing home right now, even if I had to go back with my family (here we know well how disability and work can be difficult things to stay together) and I’m in the exact same place as you. After all these years of depression and mental health illnesses, I’m renovating things I already have (mine, from my mother or her partner ect) and changing the aesthetics with a lot of colors. I need them so much, and a vibrant, kinda vintage from ‘70 and a bit maximalist style is something I never fought was for me but I TOTALLY LIVE FOR IT 💖
So thanks for the inspiration, I will try a thrift shop the next month to see if I find some cheap but cool things to match and love.

This is my favourite home of yours! My fave thing about moving to our own flat was that I got to decorate it myself and it still makes me happy.
Just a reminder if you are renting, check with your landlord if it’s okay to paint the walls. It would also be on your lease. If you’re renting at a big corporate owned complex, most likely they will allow it with the condition of re painting it back white when you leave or they keep your security deposit. Always best to check. If they tell you no, you can always do an accent wall with patterned contact paper as it’s easy to remove with no residue on the wall. Adhesive wall paper is a pain to take down as it comes off in pieces with adhesive left on the wall.

I remember you mentioned that you connect colors with feelings and places (like turquoise with clear tropical water), and am wondering whether the “essence” of certain colors is what you imagine and follow when color pairing. I’m imagining it being similar to how one can imagine the taste of a meal one has never had by the listing of the main ingredients- like you might think “this food combo sounds amazing” even if you haven’t had it before.
