Being triggered by how he holds his mic is wild. Why are people so hypersensitive?! 😆 Thanks for the update, man. I recently had a scare regarding my back... im just about healed up, but im really going to be intentional about my fitness now and building up my core! Also, congrats on the Q3!!!! I just got a call from our local camera store and they told me my Q3 came in... i had to forgo because I picked up the M11-P!
I’ve long felt that I’m in medium physical condition, but also have done stupid things resulting in back and joint injuries. I’m 40 this year and have been leaning harder into mobility work, posture, and exploring yoga and barre. Not really worried about looking old, but man do I hate feeling old.
Thanks for the update! Regardless whether you reach your fitness goals or not, I would still love to hear your insight and outlook on how "normal, creative people" can approach fitness, even if its just a IG or Threads post. I also struggle with it, and know it's something I need to prioritize... and don't, and I have a feeling I'm not alone. Hope all is well!
Yeah a common problem is that most people giving fitness advice, also happen to love fitness. Hopefully I can explain how I’ve progressed as someone that hates fitness
There is something called sarcopenia, the gradual loss of muscle mass as you age. Our culture tends to focus on cardio which ìs definately important but the older you get the more important it is to do strength training, IMO even more than cardio. You can get some inexpensive resistance bands which weigh next to nothing and get a full body strength workout whereever you travel. There are any number of CZcams video workouts and many price points for resistance bands. If you tweaked your back at 40 years old imagine what it's like when you're my age at 76.
Yeah those MRI scans showing muscle loss really got me motivated. Right now I'm doing like 90% strength and 10% cardio, a basic PPL split 6 days a week. I'm hoping to go hard for a year, see some changes then find a rhythm I can sustain forever
yeah in the image quality is kind of trash on this. It's because I rushed recording and had to massively crop into the wide shot, so then I put a little grain on top of that just for fun
Your photo at 3:57 is stellar ! Pretty awesome gift and happy b-day. I received my X100VI yesterday, gift from myself 😀 Are you going to NAB this year ?
Because it’s 100% quicker than setting up a mic. I don’t do it in normal videos because I spend time on them, but in cement and room I get better audio faster by holding the mic
@@stalmanplus I think it's just the esthetic of it that comes across as trendy and un original. I'm actually curious who started it. My conspiracy is that Rode and DJI are in cahoots knowing that algorithm starved minds would follow suite.
@@stalmanplus one would argue that argument is incorrect in both that it’s literally meant to be clipped on, and second if you were to hand hold a mic you would use a hand held mic. This is a trend started on TikTok and indefensible in this situation. IMHO
Aesthetically, those wireless mics look awful clipped on and just sag shirt collars. A lav is the superior choice visually, but it's also a significant audio compromise, especially in a large untreated cement room. I've boomed in this room many times and even 12 inches away causes too much reverb for my taste. I could set up a podcast mic or hold an SM57 or something, but at that point I'll spending more time than I want a quick video, and not really improving the mic aesthetic over holding a small transmitter, which is completely standard in the modern creator world.

Well congrats on the M11 then! Not sure when I’ll be ready for an M system, maybe someday
And yet it’s so worth the fitness effort, zero regrets
When you said your 40 my brain thought damn he’s old. Then I remembered I’m 40 😭
It's the youngest I'll ever be

I'm with you, being old is totally fine with me as long as I feel good and I could tell my lazy days were catching up with me

Good hearing from you Tyler!
Thanks for the update; congrats on the fitness trend and keep it up!

I turned 40 in Dec ... those tweeks are real!
Immediately noticed how Dehancer grain isn't playing kindly with YT compression; it's blipping in and out lol. I've had that problem many times!

I really really want to hit NAB but it will be very hard to do timing wise, so we'll see. Might do IBC instead
Who started this “hold the mic like a tik tok’r trend” and why are 40 year olds following this trend, lol

You know what’s there latest overdone trend? Asking why people hold the mic in videos.

Saw the holding of the lav mic, paused it, down voted, left this comment and left. #sorry
Hand holding a mic a fully defensible from a production standpoint. Maybe I need to make a video about that too
