It was that millstap video that caused my Son and I to purchase a '59 Bassman Clone.
Such a great amp that does it like no other amp, and yes, its pretty heavy.
      Great content, thank you James

      @@what1864 Yeah, I agree with you 100%.
And to be honest, once the Bassman is really cranked the magic appears, so very satisfying. Thankfully, many of the clone Bassman are really faithful reproductions at only a fraction of the cost.

@@what1864 I'd like to recommend this video, good playing, however the Bassman is the real star of this video. A must listen (IMHO). czcams.com/video/Y0r1kVXSX3Q/video.htmlsi=XkhUrGgy926-iX_E

The Fender Bassman seems to be where Rock amplification really started. So many amps were built on that basis…! Nice playing and combo with that Strat of yours. Cheers

You seem right at home already with the Bassman and that wonderful Strat, James. The combination sounds superb with your tasteful playing. I'm really looking forward to a comparison with the Marshall.

These kind of tones are all over Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea album, especially "Baby, Please Don't Leave Me" and "I Gotta Try You, Girl."

    • @HeathWatts
      @HeathWatts Před 3 měsíci

Buddy was likely using a Chicago Blues Box Buddy Guy Signature model, which was built using his old 59 Bassman. I have one. It’s an amazing amp.

No ! Buddy sounds more alive and less muddy.

  • @Oldistrue

Awesome, James! Thanks sharing this magnificent amp with us! I primarily play a strat through a 1965 Bandmaster with a matching 2x10 open back cab I had built for it. No reverb on the Bandmaster either so I’ve been on a journey to find the best option. I have found the Surfy Bear Classic INCREDIBLE for true spring reverb if you decide you don’t want to embark on a 6G15 build. Convenient size and weight by comparison and very similar in sound. Cheers! 🍻

      @@JamesOnGuitar Naw, its a keeper.
I've been collecting amps, one of each classic. So far my Son and I have a 50W Plexi, a Silverface Twin, AC30 and now the '59 Bassman.
Only amps left on our list are a Blackface Deluxe Reverb and a Tweed Deluxe.
      Turn it up!

TR are fantastic, but these are a completely different vibe. This is a classic "play loud and proud" type of amplifier.

  • @djt6546

It sounds sooo good in this recording, what must it feel
and sound like to play in the room. Stunning James and any question over the guitar colour is over in a flash. It looks fab and has plenty of finish left on it to admire. Dale Wilson is without doubt the best Fender has to offer in terms of relic jobs (and their custom shop period IMO). Rock on 👌

I can't get one of these, but I am playing through a SuperSonic 60W on the Bassman side! The Vibrolux side is beyond bright. Makes you wonder if one of these is sitting in some obscure pawn shop somewhere. Then again Joe B. would probably have already found it😂
