- Alright y’all! Let’s get into some pulls and pops! Super effective, and you look cool doing it. Nothing more tiring that really trying to hit someone and getting air.

Complete mma beginner here and just wanna say love your videos Cory very easy to digest and understand can’t wait to see you back fighting for the title thank you for these videos!!
You’re welcome!!
you vs sean has fight of the year written all over it, cant wait
For the real men out there 😂 Corey to funny. Guys this type of teaching is worth thousands of dollars. Sandman is truly blessing us.
If you wanna hear me talk for 9 hours more in depth check out the instructionals!
@@CorySandhagenMMA what?!? I need this now
@@rioblazezo7731he has a full blown course in his description check it out if u want
Appreciate this , ppl don’t understand it’s the little things like what your teaching that help even experienced fighters understand what they are doing wrong
Cory the phrase you were looking for was “if you’re tryna’ get nice with it”
Brilliant fighter Brilliant Coach 👏
Tutorial on two-footed donkey kick please
9:19 genuine lol
Daaamn corey really getting litty with it 😂😂😂
3:04 dont worry cory you dont have to make constant disclaimers we know nothing is set in stone and even the most fundamental principals become bad practice when overused and even the most basic rules are meant to be broken at the highest levels. But big respect for letting it be known, just dont let it get in the way of your teaching
You v O'Malley is going to be BANGER. STRAP SZN Cory LFG
Chito is jumping the line and then Merab because he's number one contender. So its going to be a while.
The way you coach is so insane. I wanna move to colorado just to train there
Excellent video Cory, i was wondering how the sales are going, from this clips it's obvious it is such great content, but even though it is priced really well (if you compare for example bjj instructionals with instructors of similar caliber, yours are cheaper) , it seems a relatively small niche. I hope the sales are great and you can justify keep investing your time on doing this. I believe instructionals are awesome for a multitude of reasons but one of the best is that they are timeless, your instructionals coud help the careers of fighters that are born many years after your death, and the principles you teach could help much more people than you could ever reach in person.
That's true I still rewatch old 2006-2009 K1 Max Kickbox fights and steal their combos
They’re going great! Way more than I thought so people must like them. More coming soon once I can move my arm more!
@@CorySandhagenMMAwe need more striking & mma instructionals. I’d also like one that talks about how to integrate wrestling & striking
Saving up money to buy the instructional, god I can’t wait for the full things.
This is great stuff
20 minute long sand man video let's go!!!!
Your striking methodology is beautiful. So much more to striking than what people realize. Combos are nice, but for every attack there is a counter, and a counter to the counter, and a counter to that etc.
beautiful work, you’ve won me over as a fan my man!
Thanks for these golden tidbits
I love th fact that there is no bullshit in your words I sense integrity and sincerity
This is so fire! I sparred for my first time and I was getting lit up like a Christmas tree. I feel like this is going to be very useful, will def try to incorporate into my next session. 😊
This is such quality. Nice one mate👌👍
Gat damn this is thorough.
Yo, I’m a fan but not a massive watcher of MMA fights, somewhere between a casual and amateur. Massive respect for your success. I came here ‘cause I got curious after seeing clips of your time on Joe’s podcast.
And I have to say, I’m blown away by how efficient and relevant your teaching feels in this video. It’s all digestible and applicable, and I feel like you really hit the balance for scaling it both to the hobbyists and the enthusiasts at a more intermediate or higher level. I’m sure you’ll leave a great legacy behind as a coach and teacher as well as through your own fighting.
I hope the full instructional course continues to do well! Rest easy, now!
You seem a very good training partner. No unnecessary hardness on your partner to show what a tough guy you are, just clean technique. Everything is clearly explained. Subbed.
i love your content bro. im looking forward to your title shot this year.
I really like the way Cory teaches striking... I've always struggled to find striking coaching that feels aligned with my personality
just learning of this channel! what?? Cory giving striking tips?? my sparring partners are in for a rude awakening haha! Subbed!
This channel is great.
Hello Cory !
Thank you very much :)
I don't know how you don't have more views or likes on this content, because I enjoy it a lot and find it really helpful !
The way you teach is perfect, because you understand that we all have different styles and knowledge about fighting, and you still adapt by teaching the basics that could work for anybody regardless of their background.
You also said that there are many ways to do one same thing, no rules. For example, this logic applies for hooks, there are many ways to throw a hook. There's not only one unique type of hooks that is correct. Also it depends on the distance, on the height of the opponent, etc.
Concerning what we would like to see next, since you've asked (I hope you're reading this), I would really like you to do a video about footwork, and more precisely the constant switching stance you always do.
You used it very much in your fight against Chito or TJ. The way you switch southpaw to move to your left out of nowhere sometimes is just amazing. And many more details you do to create angles and evade strikes... I'd really like to know why, when, and how you do them !
Sean O'Malley also uses the switching stance type of footwork a lot ! This is what helped him most in the fight against Sterling. In fact that's the reason why Sterling wasn't able to get a hold of O'Malley.
I am very tall (6.1ft) for my weight class (150lbs), but therefore kind of very skinny. So fighters like you or Sean really inspire me a lot.
You're the best
Thank so much for the gold info. Could you at some point do a video about stance switching (what its for & why some people say its bad blah blah...). There's just a lot of myths about stance switching that are weird and you are the guy to break them down.
love your work
I love the more educational videos you have compared to the more entertainment focused videos of other fighters.
Very interesting film, lots to take away. And completely free! Needs to be archived
as a real beginner this is great
You the man Cory
A Video of you're dynamics on switching stances and balance 👏
Let’s fucking go Corey you are a mother fuckin savage.
This is excellently explained! thank you
Brilliant content, love your tips and channel
Thanks for the content Corey. Will surely use this in my next sparring session.
Learn a lot from these vids! Would love to train with you one day gotta get that checked off the bucket list
Awesome channel and break down cory youre a great striker thank you for the intricate breakdown for us fighting nerds
Yo Cory, huge fan, heal up and when you do fight for that title shot. Fight Sean, Vera, Merab, Dana, the UFC, the world to campaign for that title shot cause in my opinion you deserve it more than anyone in the division at the moment. I swear, if Vera gets it before you do imma pop a blood vessel cause we need honest fighters like you to bring some semblance of proper sportsmanship that embody that spirit of being a martial artist.
Great content I used this in sparring today
The u god .. for gave me my favorite fighter videos you got a put more videos out there. These are incredible. Next world champion.
Striking Goat
This was fire. I have only trained jiu jitsu but I do watch a lot of videos on striking but most of the people can’t teach it worth a damn TBH. This was super easy to pick up on, great for beginners. Rooting for you sandman get that belt!
I love it bro thank you very much please dig deeper on angles, feints, closing a distance or maintaining it
Just wanted to say really loved the video and it’s interesting to see how you break down a technique to its basic form to adding layers to it for drilling, this has been educational this is like some Jedi level stuff so thank you. Wishing you all the happiness and success possible ✌️
Man just wana say you are a genius one thing about you is you make everything understandable... thanks man... became a big fan after first time listening to you at joe rogan podcast... your words always give perspective to understand anything in general also...
my favorite in the ufc you the man cory!
Cory knows the opposition is watching is the crazy part
I love these videos Cory. When you're practicing your defence, and fighting / sparring in general. Are you looking your opponent in the eyes mainly? Or their torso.. hands? I like how you said to train your eyes.
Greetings from the equator. I love your videos and I just thought maybe I could give some genuine feedback. I think your videos could improve a lot just by raising the volume. When I watch your shorts or videos, the volume is, to some degree, lower compared to other videos on CZcams, so I think your videos would stand out a lot more if the volume was just a bit higher. That's all.
I also root for Chito and other fighters, but I like your personality and philosophy a lot better, so good luck on getting that belt ✌️
Yo can u make a video on how to set up and land knees to head and body
That was a great video and great drill. And although there are several progressions to this exercise it is only one exercise. The question is how do you combine different exercises that share the same theme or main idea into a workout. How do you choose the main focus of a workout. So that all the drills and exercises Within it share a common theme?
I have short legs and always have trouble doing triangles. I know you don’t have this problem but it would be cool to see some triangle set ups and maybe some transitions to other subs
Super Litty Video
So I tried that 2nd pop drill with the cross during a sparring sesh but I just couldn't catch the guy. I think partly it's because i'd take a big step back but there's also the fact that this guy just keeps moving backwards whenever someone throws shit at him. How would you go about closing the distance following a pop in the situation where the other guy keeps moving back? I was thinking to try a little gallop once I pop off and build up from there with whatever is open. Cut an angle or something. But man, he is literally always retreating, doesn't even counter which I suppose makes things a bit less risky for me. Just really difficult to catch him.
Thanks for these videos btw man, they're super cool and it's great that you've made some of them free. Might invest some $$ in the paid content once I can spare some cash.
Let's go! Any plans to do a BJJ instructional?
“…I try not to be full of shit as much as possible in life.”
Hey Cory, great video. I have a question regarding the weight of the front leg. Around the 18 minute mark you mention that you should keep the left / lead leg heavy to push back. If you are consistently popping after combinations, would your opponent be able to start chopping at your legs as they expect you to be heavy on the lead leg? I understand striking is dynamic so you shouldn't necessarily be doing the same evasive movement after every engagement, but I still worry about leaving that leg out without the ability to quickly check.
Beat Chito so bad he thinks he deserves a title shot :/
THE TITLE SHOT IS YOURS BRO.... your on a 3 fight win streak ...your next. I have all the faith in the world that you will be CHAMPION. YOUR THE SANDMAN. PUT SEAN OMALLEY TO SLEEP...your a true mixed martial artist...tactical and dangerous on all fronts. Omalley is not on your level right now...Heal up and God bless you brother. I expect to see that belt on your shoulder by the first of the year
I like the fighting game comparison because combos in real life it's not as simple as when you land your jab you do A, B and C. They need to be done with the idea that whatever you're hitting is gonna hit back.
Corey will you ever pull back with both feet and return fire? Or just one step back?
the same concept of a jab into backdash works exactly the same in tekken
If I am a shorter fighter then do you think it’s worth it to drill this because if your short and you hit them and take that little step back your still in range
He gonna throw Sand on the Suga show……..lol am ripped rn
I notice you using the toe spacers on your left foot, i can think of some benefits here. But I'd like to hear them from you if possible?
Can you map the hierarchy of skills that a fighter need to learn. From the first skill they need to know to the last .
Good question. Off the top of my head, you have to know all the techniques (Jab, cross, hooks, etc) - these are your weapons. Then learn how to be defensive and keep yourself safe (good guard, movement, etc). Then learn how to be defensive and add in offense. Then learn to be offensive while also defensive. I get into a lot on the instructionals tbh
Rally your ass for the title shot bro we MUST see you vs Omalley for the title.
Remember consequences
Nice black eye Cory soldier , Cory would beat Sean no issues I bet he's excited to be new champ 😊 after he whoops Sean
Yeah but…when is the takedown instructional?
4:04 you meant to say "pushing of your frontfoot". Not backfoot
Cory love your content and the way you break things down very slow and simple. If I could mention one thing for improvement, I'm training my 5 year old son and all the curse words make it where I can't show him your videos. Perhaps since your videos are instructional and will be viewed by young kids you could clean up the language?
4:36
5:45
8:05 just marking timestamps
finally finished note taking
Cory compared to Sean.
Completely the same, kind of.
cory doesn't like linguistics
Champhagen season soon
I wanna trade with brodie
I'd don't give a... I don't care. 😆
