The scissors on the wingman it is just fine!!!
You have to open all the way the scissor!!!!
It is tha same mechanism as the Surge!
You're not opening the wingman scissors all the way till they lock. When you do, that will properly activate the spring bar.
Trust me, this ain't my first rodeo. I've carried them day after day. My set must be janky

The wingman scissors are supposed to have a spring, looks like yours is just stuck. I love the wingman because of the big scissors! Wish the wave+ had bigger scissors it would make it perfect.
You have the push the scissors completly so u can have the spring lol
Good review, as usual, but one thing I noticed: Your Wingman's scissors are defective, and Leatherman will fix that -- and tune up the rest of the tool -- if you ship it back to them. If the scissors, when deployed, don't lock into the frame, fully, then the spring doesn't actuate the way it's supposed to, and your scissors won't function properly. That seems to be the issue with your Wingman. I have two of them, and both scissors work fine. I have most of the Leatherman lineup, and they all have positives and drawbacks. I sometimes prefer the Wingman because it's smaller, lighter, and ships with a pocket clip, which makes it more pocket-friendly for shorts, biking, etc. Thanks for the great content.

I'm rocking the juice xe6 it's small a little bulky but has everything I need . I keep the wave+ in my backpack and a rebar in my truck .
The EDC lifestyle has become main stream. Companies know that, more than likely we are going to pay for the products. This is big business. People aren't thinking twice about buying a 500.00 dollar pocket knife and these companies know that. If you go down this EDC rabbit whole you will soon realize that it can be a very expensive lifestyle! I'm starting to have the mindset of learning to work with what I have and having patience and saving for the really nice pieces I want. Most of us can go 2 months and not even carry the same knife!
Something is wrong with your Wingman. They definitely have a spring....I see the spring bar on Wingman, they will engage with the liner lock. Are your scissors locking using the liner lock? Or does it just fold close.... I didn't here the liner lock "click" when you opened the scissors... ( You might need to lock it out further)

I EDC a Skeletool Cx because it works so well. I'm looking at a Signal for heavier duty use

That Curl doesn't have replaceable wire cutters like the wave. I operate around alot of Mechanics & they carry a Wave with the bit kits in a sheath. Or they'll swear by a Swiss multitool. The same are dumping down thousands of dollars on SNAP on & Mac tool. So it would seem Leatherman has aimed their marketing at Mechanics that spend money on tools for their lively hood. Same goes for EMT's those Leatherman rescue shears are bounced outta the park. I gotta Rebar that was about 60 bucks, for me, not a mechanic, it's good enough.
I just wanted to say that the wingman does have a spring in the scissors you just have to make sure there in the lock position and you have to manually open the scissors for that to happen and it locks like your standard pocket knife

i still have my WAVE that i have carried since my time as security contractor pre 9/11 was looking at picking up a Wave+ guess i better do it sooner than planned or look on Ebay for a used 1
The Leatherman Wingman and Sidekick originally launched for around $25. I bought mine back in 2014 and it still rides in my car with me. Imagine my surprise when I tried to purchase a second one in recent years and saw the price jumped to $70...
I’ve owned several varieties of leatherman, even more expensive larger versions. My favorite is the wingman! I think I paid $30 probably 14-15

If this a tool that you keep for many years and carry on a regular basis, then even $119 for something that comes with good customer service and a 25 year warranty is worth it, in my opinion. I've spent far more on things that get much less use. For anyone interested, Lowe's had the Wave + for $109 and in stock a few days ago.
100% agreed. If you carry a tool for 25 years the daily price is around a cent

I just paid that. I actually paid 124.00 because I wanted it engraved for my step son who is in the navy. 🤷🏻♂️ I knew I could get it cheaper but I wanted the engraving 🤦🏻♂️
I’m loving the Leatherman Juice. Actually bought another two when they were 1/2 price thanks to the heads up from our “fearless leader” 😊! As far as pricing going up. EVERYTHING IS GOING UP IN PRICE. So why would EDC things be any different ?

just got a new Wave + today for $80 with no tax and free shipping. Pretty happy with that price and it was too good not to get. I want a Swisstool X but not in love with the prices and a preowned good priced one is tough to find. The Wave + is a very good EDC all around good tool and very happy to get a new one that cheap. Blessings and have a pour of ECBP for Me
Price raises everywhere in every industry-wave + for the win. By far the best leatherman ever in my opinion. Sure it sucks to see the prices raise, I’d love to be able to put gas in my motorcycle for under ten bucks again.
I'm usually near my truck or garage. If I need a tool, I will get one from one of these two places. Knives, I am happy with Buck and Kershaw.
I have carried multiple leatherman multitools and I recently switched to the SOG power pint and its better than all the leathermans I have used. Strongly recommend looking into it

Wingman scissors are spring loaded, just have to unstuck yours.
The Wave* just added replaceable wire cutters. The OG new Wave came out in 2004.
The Wave was $70 for many years, then $100 and now $120.
The Charge went up in price even more. The titanium TTI used to be $120. The premium Titanium Charge is now $190!
The Wingman and Sidekick used to be $30!
The price has gone up but the quality has gone way down IMO

The price increases suck and I'm sure leatherman doesn't want to raise prices but has to. I'll still buy leatherman. I've owned many multi tools over the years, and the only ones that haven't let me down or pissed off and aggrivated are leatherman and victorinox. Everything else is junk that's a waste of time and money. Anyone who's thinking about buying their first wave+ I say don't do it buy a charge+ instead
