Can I ask what your all-time favorite shampoo/conditoner is? Your hair looks good in all your videos. So glad I found your channel!
Thank you! My current fave is Kerastase Bain Densite. Currently editing a video about it now. It should come out later this week!
Okay so I see alot of hair stylists reviewing drug store/ cheaper hair products but I never see an actual video about the best luxury hair products. It would be nice to see a video on that
You got it! I’ll get some in the works!
Any products you’re curious about? Some of the ones I’m thinking about are Kerastase, Oribe, Shu Uemura, Oui... LMK
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair not sure if these are luxury, but nexxus, pureology, and living proof!
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair yes all of those luxury brands pls! and also maybe Aesop and Olaplex too??
Actually I've got a question about Olaplex. I've bleached my hair before and my hairstylist told me to use olaplex no 3 as a hair mask to help the bonds and told me people normally don't need to use something like olaplex without that extent of hair damage. But a lot of people have been using olaplex on regular hair? What are your thoughts on using olaplex on non-treated hair?
Royce & Bekah could you do kerastase? My hairstylist always recommended it to me but it’s sooo expensive, I wanna know if it’s worth it!
I want to order but it’s so expensive it used to be like 25 dollars for the 16oz bottles when they just launched and now its 60$ I think if they made it a bit more affordable again they would have more customers
Target has function of beauty now that you can still customize but it’s way more affordable
Anne is right! It's at target now! I made a video about it here: czcams.com/video/PuaTOKBIESs/video.html
It is a little more affordable too!
I agree
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair shampoo and conditioner
i had the shampoo and conditioner and loved my hair but only after several months of using it i noticed that more hair was falling out and my hair is pretty thick but i noticed it started getting thinner
I've been using it for a little over a year, and this was after I basically fried most of it off by over processing it. It has grown a little more and just all around feels better. I obviously also slowly got the fried hair cut off, but even before it was all gone, I was noticing improvement. As someone who uses heat tools everyday and lives in a hot climate, the heat protection goal was great for me. I always choose it.
Awesome! Glad it's working for you!
I started using function of beauty on my damaged naturally curly hair about 2 months ago and omg my hair is sooo soft and frizz is honestly a lot less than before I’m impressed but this is sending me to brokeville😂
I’m glad it’s helping
I've been using FoB for around 6 months now and I find my hair is growing faster and healthier than ever and my curles are way more defined now. Ive been switching shampoos with every time I had to buy a new bottle and this is the first brand i re-bought the same product twice in a row. So far so good, no hair loss or scalp issues for me, hopefully it stay's that way.
Awesome! Can you tell us what your base shampoo and conditioner is and what boosters you like?
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair my base is curly + medium + oily, my choices are curl definition, hydrate, lengthen, nourish roots and strengthen.
I use the shampoo, conditioner and hair oil every wash, and the hair mask one a week or every 2 weeks depending how my hair feels
Thanks! For sharing!
Did u get the silicone free shampoo and conditioner?
@@Helen_503 no, I got the standard one

Your channels editing is incredible
Thank you!! It’s all Royce!! He’s amazing
Hello, I love how you’re so self explanatory... I would like to know what will be good for hair lost(like a lot lot 😭) and puffiness. Please !!
Thank you. Kerastase has some good products for hair loss. They have a quiz you can take online and it can recommend the products you could get.
I’m sorry you’re experiencing that. It’s not fun!
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair do you have any idea of hair loss ? because i lose mine since autumn and i wanted to dye my hair but i can't cause I'll just become bald (coz after dying we lose hair + i already lose a lot...)
I’ve been waiting for this one! I’ve been using olaplex shampoo and conditioner and I love it. I feel like it’s finally helping my hair grow out! Before I was using Navy Hair Care and I got that from tons of influencer’s recommendations. It’s really pricey, I’d love to know your thoughts on that brand!
I’ll have to check it out!!!
This whole time I thought youtubers were saying functional beauty... Safe to say I have never clicked the link in their bios
😆
I've been using FoB since last April. As a curly girl with a sensitive scalp I can say I really love the products- and I have all of their hair care line (though the mask is my least favourite). And I agree that it helps to know your hair. Thanks to my CG journey I knew that my hair hates coconut so I ditched the "moisture" goal and used other ones instead. Thank you for your insight 💜
Glad you found something that works! Yeah, I don't like coconut oil for moisturizing either. That's funny the hair mask is my favorite product of theirs that I have tried. I guess everyone is different 😊Thanks for watching!
My sister and I have been using FofB for over 2 years now and can honestly say we can’t see ourselves using anything else now. In between the 2 years we’ve tried using other shampoos to compare against FofB and always came running back to FofB 😂 once you figure out your ideal hair preferences it’s game over, you’re hooked forever lol
Good to know! Thank you! I guess it is good to add that you can change your goals between orders.
Is this a fake comment? It’s been posted twice

I know this brand dose not work for every one but for me personally it worked i have very bad dandruff, frizzy and over all my hair is not the best and can feel dryed up at times I started using this brand for awhile and it felt amazing
I have been using function of beauty for a year now! I love it so much!
Yay!
My hair has always been a nightmare to deal with. It was a frizzy, tangled disaster and I always lost a ridiculous amount of hair in the shower. I stopped dying it or using any form of heat on it a few years ago and it had barely made a difference. I'd been through several dozen products and nothing ever helped. In August I had seen several influencers recommending FoB and I decided to try it because I figured it couldn't hurt. I am so glad I took a chance on this product. My hair is still a frizzy mess, but it is much easier to detangle and it feels softer than it did before. It also takes a lot longer for my hair to get oily now, I only have to wash my hair once a week, as opposed to at least every other day. And, while I still lose more than a normal amount of hair in the shower, it's quite a bit less than what I had been losing. My only issue with it is because now I only have to wash my hair once a week I don't get through the 16oz bottle in the 4 month (longest available option) period between shipments. I've reduced my order to the 8oz bottles, but the price is barely any less for half the product, and I still have a full 16oz bottle waiting to be opened.
Wow! So glad to hear you found something that made such a difference for you! Maybe now that it's at Target you can buy it only when you need to now 😊
Hi I can relate to you on the frizzy part. Have you ever wondered if your hair is curly? That could be the reason for all the issues your having. I had the same problem before I started using products designed for curly instead of straight hair.
That’s a good thought. It’s possible. Thanks for sharing.
I have been wanting to try this. I love your curly hair.
Thanks! Go for it 😄
I have been debating trying out FoB for a while now, but I wasn't willing to spend so much money of nothing but hopes and dreams. However, after seeing this review and reading several other people say it helped them with curl definition, strength and growing out their hair, I might actually give it a try. It seems like it would be suited pretty well for my hair type, so I'm willing to take a risk :) Thank you for the review!
It's definitely a step up from typical drug store products! Let us know how you like it
I only used FoB for a month and not like how my hair felt and neither my daughter liked it. since then we been using alterna or pureology and living proof
Function of beauty just launched in target 11oz bottles for 9.99 and the hair goal shots you put In yourself are 2.99, I used to order from their site but I’m so excited I can pick it up from target and so much cheaper. It’s also the peach scent at target.
I had no idea!! I went to buy some at target to see how it compares! Hopefully I’ll post a video soon. Thanks for the info!!
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair you’re welcome!
I looked up this video because of this reason. I saw it on Tik tok yesterday and wanted to researched before I took my whole family out to try it haha
@@breeandreas I bought the target one because I used to buy it online and I honestly like the in store version better, it’s cheaper, you can pick it up in store, and it makes my hair really soft and shiny. Only thing is the peach is really strong in it so if you have a fragrance sensitivity it would probably give you a headache
@@DanikaMunroe I’m only a little confused because I don’t see 11 oz bottles online, they have 8 and 16 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ either way I’m super excited to go try it haha
What’s your favorite shampoo and conditioner?? LMK
I loved this review! Seen this product all over, it's nice to hear your perspective :)
I’m glad I can help!
I use ogx shampoo and conditioner, at the moment the light blue one as shampoo and the magenta one as conditioner :)
@@gruene-eule I was using that, I wouldn’t recommend them. They have DMDM which releases formaldehyde which causes cancer. Download think dirty and search it up
@@uncensoredaye thank you I had no idea 👀
I just ordered mine a couple days ago and forgot to do my research first before spending that much on shampoo and conditioner. I’m happy to know that it was a good idea to order the mask. I also ordered the leave in conditioner because my hair is extremely dry and brittle. My hair has been thinning out A LOT over the last year where my pony tail is 1/3 of what it used to be.
I’m in the same boat😂😂
I think I'm gunna give it a go !!! they have bogo right now for the body care items ! also - you can pick the color of the hair mask too !
Awesome!
I use shampoo bars and conditioner bars from Lush and I love them. No plastic waste and perfect to travel with.
I have a couple that I'm going to try soon
I was all over the solid products from Lush for a long time for those exact reasons (and I'm still using their soaps as body wash), but despite trying different kinds they never really suited my hair. So now I'm very happy with FoB (seriously, it's like night and day), and at least they're using recycled plastic, which is better than most. Will use the shampoo & conditioner bars I still have left for traveling, though.
Most shampoos will lather if people will shampoo 2x like there're supposed to. I find a lot of people don't do that.
Nice review. Thank you! :)
Yes! I love shampooing twice!
Thanks so much for the honest review. I have been drawn to this product for some time, even though it was a quite a bit out of my usual price range. Now I see that it probably isn't all that great, I don't think I'll try it.
I'd been hearing a lot about this product ! Thank you for your point of view! This was really helpful!
I'm so glad!
💕💕💕
the reason i really like function of beauty is because i haven't found any shampoo and conditioners that are completely dye, irritant and fragrance free. i have sensitive dry skin and it's so hard to find products that are good for me to use! i feel like many people who have reviewed the brand and didn't think it was that great don't put that into thought.
Yeah, it’s a very important thing for people who need that!
Kristin ess has a fragrance free line i really like that could maybe work for you!
This is so true. I have exema so my skin gets so dry and irritated but fragrance free, dye free products are the only things I can use
You are so cute ! I wish u all the best in your youtube and hairstylist career ! Idk why but u give me very calming vibes !
Lately, I've been using Briogeo shampoo and conditioner. I was attracted to the brand, so I decided to give it a try. I actually switched from Function of Beauty because I wasn't very happy with my results after using them for about a year. I did get more itchy in my scalp in between washes and I was getting flakes.. Briogeo is good for the price and they have different options for different hair needs and lots of things to try. I do like them, but I am open to trying something else if it's not super expensive and if it gives better results. I wash my hair twice a week and have been growing my hair out for the past 3 years and trying to not damage it any more than it has been. I haven't bleached or dyed it in the past couple years, but it does still have previous damage and my ends seem to split easily and get frizzy looking. I am happy with the shine and strength that Briogeo gives my hair, but still open to trying other brands. If anyone is reading this and has a suggestion, feel free to let me know. My hair is pretty wavy and thick, but not super curly, but it does tangle easily since I stopped straightening it.
Have you tried Bumble and Bumble hair dressers invisible oil? It could be a nice one to try.
I’ve heard good things about Briogeo... I’ve used it a couple times. I want to try it again.
I have not tried anything from the brand, but I have heard of it. I will have to buy a bottle and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice and for making helpful videos like this.
Hi, I got mine in today, can't wait to try it! My hair is the same, starts waving kinda like beach waves. I'm proud of that bcoz all through the yrs I've had straight hair and since I've gotten older 66 it decides to wave which I'm not complaining. I'll let you know how it work's for me after I try it a couple time's. I couldn't afford the hair mask but it sounds very nice. Thank you so much for the review. A new product that is out and I can't find it anywhere is Suave Pink. If you can find it I'd like to see a review on that 😀. I subbed and hit the bell and liked.
I am a dude and trying it out I tried so many shampoo and conditioner and they leave my hair so frizzy so I am going to give it a try
My scalp was definitely having the same reaction! I was curious to if I answered my hair type wrong or if it was the shampoo and conditioner themselves. I also was noticing more hair shed since using it compared to before. However, because of how clean it made my hair feel I could go about 5 days without having to wash it again and am unsure of that has to do with the hair loss as well even though I do brush it throughout the time. I am taking a few weeks off of it and trying out olaplex which my salon advertises, and so far really like it but it doesn't last as many days between washes.
Let us know if you like Olaplex better! Finding the right product for your hair is tough, but it's worth it!
My first time I ordered with function of beauty I got the straight hair texture, because even though my hair can be a bit wavy I didn't know if it was enough. When I used it, it made my hair really flat and didn't have really that much volume, even though it was one of my goals. But my hair definitely had a nice feel to it. So I wanted to give it another try and I ordered again, after the old one ran out and every other natural and vegan shampoo I used wasn't doing anything for me...So this time I clicked the second hair type and my goals seriously were met! My hair feels completely silky when dry and I love it! Because I'm from germany I wanted to try other shampoos that were more local and also plastic free shampoo bars and I tried so many products but none get my hair like that. I'm leaning towards buying from function of beauty again as it is the best shampoo experience I've had in my 30 years but still...locally would be better :/ When using function I never had any dandruff and my hair felt fresher for longer.
yeah i only used it once and noticed i had wayyyy more hair shed than usual + didn’t really feel like it cleaned that well so i returned it. i have 2b/2c curly hair.
@@afsheen792 my hair is very straight so maybe its different for me, but i felt the same way about it not cleaning that well at first. it eventually worked itself out tho, so im thinking it has to do with me switching to silicone/sulfate free? i always used whatever $5 drugstore crap before so it was full of nasty stuff. ive been using it about 6 months (i got it around may of 2020) and i only have to wash my hair like once a week now- at first i was washing every other day because i just never really felt like it got truly clean
I just got mine today and tried it out straight away - I very pleased with the first wash! I made a bit of a mistake with the scent - it's lavender & eucalyptus and it turned out a bit medicinal, almost, but that's okay ☺️ Like you, I wasn't impressed *while* I was washing my hair, but the end result was great! I have very fine, dry/chemically treated hair and it's prone to tangling, the conditioner really helped smooth it out and made it easier to comb out. My shampoo and conditioner did have quite a thick consistency, I suppose it's all to do with what hair goals you set. I was a bit surprised when I used my conditioner, it felt cold on my skin but then I remembered I chose "soothe scalp" as an option.
I wish there was an option to protect against humidity, I live in Texas so it’s always EXTREMELY humid here and humidity caused hair breakage and frizz and although there’s an option to help with frizz, I don’t think it’d work that well with how thick the air is here
Have you tried pureology smooth perfection? Or bumble and bumble hair dressers invisible oil?
Ahh.. this is my problem too.. before I moved to Texas my hair was perfect.. now it’s always frizzy I can never where it down..
I've always used Redken, Cureology, Aveda or Wella Color Motion so far, but am curious to try this at least one to see how it compares to other high end shampoos
I appreciate ur honest advice thank you
😊
So glad you decided to try these it's my favourite shampoo and conditioner but I'm still cross with them because they didn't deliver all of my order

@@Bekah_and_co_prohair omg tysm!! You’re amazing!!
My experience as well. I love it. I go back and forth with other products and my bleached hair is way better with Function of Beauty. I like the silicone in it choice for my hair.
I used Function of Beauty for a month and my hair was breaking, falling out, and has never been more dry and frizzy. I cancelled my subscription, yet when it was time for it to be renewed they still charged me $50. I emailed them and asked for a refund since I had previously cancelled my subscription, only to be ignored for about two weeks. Once they finally responded, I was told they would not be giving me a refund. I now use the brand Hairitage and it works wonders. Moral of the story, just because a brand is more expensive DOES NOT mean it’s the best product FOR YOU and your hair.
Sorry you had a bad experience. It’s true, there are few one size fits all products. But glad you found something that works for you.
I want to get function of beauty but I keep seeing mixed reviews and don’t know what to buy for my hair
It’s decent. It’s worth a try. Especially if your coming from suave.
What do you think about the ogx shampoo and conditioner line? I’ve been using it for a few years now and I’m now hearing about the DMDM hydantoin thing. I’m gonna start my journey to finding the best shampoo and conditioner for my hair so do you have any recommendations for me? I’m Asian and have virgin, straight long black hair. Like long pass my butt long. Thanks! I just discovered your channel, and I am living for it. Keep up the great work!
Oh thank you! I haven’t used the OGX line. I’ll have to look it up. Have you tried pureology?
target now sells these. you pick your natural hair type, and they have little booster shots like lengthen, moisturize, etc that you can add to your bottle. i just got the wavy one and used them last night for the first time. my hair felt drier at first, BUT had way more natural curl definition than normal. my scalp is also pretty itchy too i noticed...
I KNOW! It's so exciting! I just made a video about that here: czcams.com/video/PuaTOKBIESs/video.html

What brand would you recommend for hair loss? Love your review!
Kerastase has some great products that promote hair growth. But there are many factors that can affect hair loss so it’s tough to recommend something that will work for sure.
Can you try the Viori shampoo and conditioner bars next? I haven’t seen any hairstylists try it
A lot of ppl said this stuff thinned their hair out but everyone’s different
yes, I haven’t had any issues yet. There are so many factors that could go into hair thinning.
I really wish I had a better review personally! I will say they have excellent customer service, their presentation is super cute and it smelled amazing but my hair was a greasy mess that took me months to sort back out after I started using it! 😭 i don’t know if I took the quiz wrong or w/e...I was having issues with dryness and frizziness prior to but after using FoB, I looked like I hadn’t showered in a week within hours of my hair “drying” after the shower. Be careful what you wish for, right? Either way, I was too discouraged to retake the quiz and try again for how expensive it is.
If it works for you, that’s amazing and I’m happy for you but omg it was not for me!
Oh bummer that stinks! I hope you found something else you like better.
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair I did 😄 my friend recommended garnier whole blends and my hair is finally looking shiny and healthy 🥰
I know this is from a month ago, but I just discovered your channel! I ordered FoB shampoo and conditioner and literally after one day my scalp is itchy and oily. Which wasn’t a problem before. I guess to be fair I didn’t check the soothing scalp goal... I would be interested to hear what your hair goals are. Also, I would be looking to hear what luxury hair products would change my life! OH bummer!! That stinks. My formulation was wavy, strength, moisture, curl definition, and soothe scalp, i think. Oh girl, get ready! I have so many amazing products coming down the line!!
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair Yay thank you!!!!!
I did the soothe scalp and it ended up making my scalp dry and itchy. I gave it a long go too (more than 6 months). But I ended up talking to customer service and they said I might have an allergy to something in the products.
I bought FOB and I wanted to like it but it was just terrible on my hair. I ended up using the shampoo as a body wash. What I found that worked great for my fine 3a curlnpatern hair was the Viori shampoo and conditioning bars.
I love shampoo and conditioner bars
I ordered it a couple of days ago and since I live in Germany it will be here in about 10 days so I am really excited!! I hope it’s good for my scalp since it got Really dry since I moved to a new city and the water here is really damaging my hair so I hope that the shampoo can hep me out of not I will be hurt since it’s not that cheap but let’s hope for the best and I should have watched ur review earlier..
Hope you enjoy it!
I just started using FofB, I'm 3 washes in an think my hair feels great but my friend sent me a video of this girl whos hair started falling out from it. Idk if its the custom or in target version but now I'm afraid that'll happen to my hair. But Im getting mixed reviews.
How has it been using it?
What do you recommend for hair loss? I had very blonde highlights in the summer and every time I brush my hair I get alot of hair loss
I can’t make an accurate judgement without seeing your hair in person, but highlighting your hair can be very damaging. It could be that the bleach is causing your hair to break. You could always try strengthening shampoo from Kerastase or Pureology and let your highlights grow out to give your hair a chance to recover.
Honestly function of beauty has changed my hair! I feel like my hair has gotten noticeably thicker, it feels so smooth, and my hair falls out less. The only issue I have is flaky scalp (not from the products but because it’s really cold where I live and my skin and scalp are soo dry) so I ordered a new set the other day with the “soothe scalp” option, so hopefully it helps! My first set (the one I use now) isn’t 100% accurate to what I need, but that’s trial and error! Even though I love my hair now, I can’t wait to get my new formula so I can get more results!
Also I’ve had my set since July and I’m almost done with it! It lasts forever 🥰
Let us know how the scalp soothe is. I think i would definitely add that to mine set for winter. My scalp has been a little flaky the last couple weeks.
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair I will!❤️
Function of Beauty was the opposite for me! I selected "soothe scalp" as one of the hair goals for my shampoo/conditioner. I just finished the bottle and it's a no for me :( It caused my scalp to itch sooo much and I lost a lot of hair after using this brand. I'm currently back to using Olaplex - a def yes for me!
@@dkarent omg that makes me so worried about the soothe scalp option I chose😭 hopefully it doesn’t react bad for me, I’m sorry you had a bad experience with it!! I heard olaplex was really good!
I really like Olaplex! Hair is very unique to each person! It’s always good to know what you like and don’t like and what fits best for your hair. I’m glad you found something you like! That’s a win in my book!
I tried function of beauty and after the second wash my hair was acting weird, I started breaking out on my scalp and my hair felt dry and crunchy. It didn't matter how much hair oils and leave-in I put in. It's been 8 months and my hair has not bounced back. They did refund me. I am currently saving my money to go back to my good old trusted Redken.
Oh bummer! I hope you can get the results you're looking for with Redken!
I’ve been debating whether or not to try Function of Beauty for awhile. I would like wavy hair, and I would also like to wash my hair every 5 days again, so do y’all think Function of Beauty would help with that?
Thx so much for the heart!!

do you know any brands/products that would be good for thin hair that grows extremely slowly? my sister’s hair was damaged by using box dye & then REALLY damaged by the horrible shower water at her old apartment, it barely grows anymore and i know it takes a big toll on her confidence. its been stuck at around shoulder length for 2 years and she has tried many things to make it grow. her hair is also naturally curly but it has lost that. id like to find something new for her to try for her birthday this year!
I just got function of beauty. The rose scent was awful and so strong. They let me return it and get a different scent. I got the milk shake scent in light and it was still so powerfully scented I was surprised. I honestly thought I got lice bc my head has been so itchy and I’ve never had itchy or dry scalp before this. But I don’t have lice and the only thing I’ve done different is use their products. I love the way my hair feels but I’m not sure what I really think of this brand.
I love matrix hair care products the best so far
I had the same reaction for the price I was disappointed. My scalp didn’t like it at all it was extremely itchy and went super dry. The scent was really nice but I had to stop using it.
@@evehsv5556 yeah I’m just going to have to sell it or give it away ): it’s made my head so dang itchy
@@Lola-eh9cp Me too it was terrible. I then had to use head and shoulders to clean my scalp off yuk.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I went to the extreme of buying a lice comb to double check I didn’t have any lice 😂. Thankfully I didn’t but it’s no fun when your itching your scalp like you do. Even family around me was saying somethings not right. I thought maybe since it’s a new product it just has to go through the stages but it became unbearable and super uncomfortable. I have only conditioned my hair since March 8 2x a week and I am still itchy. My hair is still falling out really bad. No underlying issues either. Never had an issue like this before just frizzy hair and dry ends, but never intensely dried scalp.
I've heard about some people having hair loss issues with Function of Beauty. Idk if it is true, just thought I would mention it.
Several other people have commented saying they experienced hair loss but I haven't noticed any myself... so I guess the jury is still out on that one. Thanks for watching!
Don’t get it with menthol.
OH MY GODDD you can buy a different size shampoo and conditioner?!?! You can get an 8oz shampoo and a 16oz conditioner or vise-versa. This is AMAZING because I've always used 2x the amount of conditioner and often run out long before the shampoo bottle's done, so I often end up buying 2 conditioner bottles to each shampoo bottle, which means that it takes FOREVER to use it all and I'm stuck with the same product for almost an entire year...
Oh cool! Yeah that would be so annoying
not anymore 😢 no more 16oz bottles , period. now they only give you the option of 8oz bottles for both shampoo and conditioner. which sucks because I used to get a big 16oz conditioner and small 8oz shampoo.
I'm mostly wanting to try this to see if my skin/scalp is sensitive to dyes and fragrance
In which case I would get it neither with dye nor fragrance so I don't really care about that
I like that it’s an option to do that!
My daughter has uncomable hair syndrome, I'm trying to find a shampoo and conditioner that will help her hair, if u have any ideas please help. I've been thinking about getting this for her. I've tried everything..
I know one other person that has that, but i'm not entirely sure what to do about it. I know it responds differently. I think making sure it's detangled and dries so it doesn't mold.
I saw the individual hairs in people who have the un-combable hair syndrome. It was pretty fascinating. I hope she is able to embrace her individuality and know that different isn’t bad. Different can be amazing.
I think the thickness is either different for everyone's unique formula, or they've changed it somehow because when i first got it a year ago, the shampoo was a lot less runny and the conditioner barely moved when i flipped the bottle upside down. It was quite a thick consistency, but this year i got a silicone free version of the same thing and both are runny?
Interesting... it would makes sense that it would differ a little according to each unique formula. It could be that moving the silicone made the difference. Hard to say for sure.
FoB is one of the first products that help with tangles. I have no tangles coming out of the shower and I can wear my hair down with minimal tangles. I also don’t Ave to wash my hair every day which means I get quick shower days and save on water. I am also cheap and don’t use the really expensive salon products.
I’ve seen other reviews and comments on other videos regarding a major increase in hair loss using this brand, have you experienced this?
It's hard to nail down the cause of hair loss, as many things can cause it. So far, I haven't noticed any extra hair loss since using Function of Beauty.
I have dandruff prone hair. I've been struggling with flakiness, itchiness, and hair loss for years. Can you recommend any affordable shampoos to soothe my scalp?
My favorite shampoo for dandruff is Kerastase Specifique. However it is an investment. But it works. As far as a more affordable option, you could try selsun blue naturals. I've never tried it on my hair, but we used it on my daughter's hair when she had cradle cap.
hi! love ur curls. may i know what hair goals u chose? i’m thinking if i should get their products or not haha
Hi! Thanks! The ones that I can remember choosing are strength, moisture, and curl definition. You can't go wrong with those!
i see, thank u!
I tried out FoB a while ago. I have a very oily scalp and choose that as one of the options. The instructions said to shampoo, rinse, shampoo again then condition. At first it made my hair look amazing and everyone was asking about it, though after while it would look like a full oil spill on my head halfway through the day so I stopped using it. I have since been training my hair to wash less so I've been thinking about trying it again.
You could try Pureology or if you have curly hair you could try Ouidad. Both of those are great options. Shampooing twice is something I love to do!
You could try just shampooing once, you could be stripping too much oil from your head. :)
I'm not a professional tho! So take what I say with a grain of salt! Haha
I received mine January 24 and I used it just twice a week I have extreme scalp itching and hair fall out. I would not recommend. I am allowing my scalp to detox from using it. I probably won’t wash my hair for the next two weeks just condition because of how intensively dried my scalp is.
Should you do the silicone free version or not?
What are your thoughts on manes by mell?? Like how she recommends malibu c cleansing / clarifying, shea moisture etc??
I haven’t seen and of her recommendations. I have used Malibu C treatments before color and they are amazing! I haven’t tried too many of their hair products so I can’t speak for or against it. However, I do like their treatments.
I have used function of beauty for a year now and i just cannot seem to find another brand that i enjoy as much. I am in canada so its a bit of a pain but my hair loves it.
That's awesome!
I’m not sure what to use. My roots seem quite oily and I’ve been getting dandruff recently. However the further away from my scalp that my hair gets, the drier and frizzier it also gets. Help please?!!
What is your current shampoo and conditioner?
The shampoo isnt clear so it is a bit heavier and doesnt clean my hair.
I wish the subscription times varied, I bought some and they’ve lasted me a year already
Oh wow! That’s good for you.
Hi I know this is old but I am really struggling with my scalp. A hour after washing I already have dandruff and over the next few days I get really bad buildup to a point where if it falls off it rips my skin off (first or second layer) what should I do/ what should I buy. I am black and white and my hair is on the slightly curlier side. Not kinky but curly
Hi there! Sorry to hear you are struggling with dandruff 😞For scalp issues Kerastase Dermocalm is our favorite. I would definitely recommend trying that. We made a video about it here: czcams.com/video/y2helOsOVBA/video.html
Also what you're describing sounds pretty intense. Sometimes dandruff and scalp issues can be caused be underlying medical conditions. Your doctor might be able to point you in a better direction. Another hair stylist, Brad Mondo, did a great interview with a doctor about scalp issues that is definitely worth the watch. You can find it here: czcams.com/video/hnaSkcJWBLg/video.html
Hope that helps!
I used head and shoulder and I invested in this stuff and it can't be that damaging to my hair
It's true
I just took the hair quiz and was about to purchase but decided to look at some youtube reviews for FOB first. I have naturally thin straight hair (unfortunately,) and my hair lately just seems so dull and lifeless, it goes flat quickly after blow drying. I have to continuously brush throughout the day so that it has some volume. Plus, my hair usually is greasy by the next morning and I feel obligated to wash it again or use dry shampoo. I’ve probably tried 15+ shampoos and conditioners and not a single one of them has given my hair the life i see in others’. I would love to know any advice/tips or recommendations.
Hmm, that’s a tough one. Have you tried Kerastase Bain Desifique? Great for the straight hair for volume and pair it with a light conditioner.
Try the amika dry shampoo and the amika volume spray I have very flat thin straight hair and it’s a GAME changer!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
I have been wanting to try this because my current shampoo isn’t vegan and my scalp is so dry. I know it’s important to get products with no paragons and nasty chemicals.
If you do try it... go for the fragrance-free... sometimes fragrance can dry out a scalp. Another good options could be Pureology Hydrate
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair that could be I don’t think it’s the fragrance that’s causing it.
I’m so sad because I ordered this shampoo and conditioner and they even accidentally sent two boxes, I have twice as much. But it makes the bleached part of my hair sticky and staticky. But it works perfectly for my fiancé and best friend (they both have short hair)
Sorry it didn’t work for you. Did you find something you like?
Do you have any recommendations for me? I have blue hair so I bleach my hair every other month or so. I've noticed since then it's pretty dry, however my hair is thin but always oily at the roots. Aside from that, my hair is like between wavy-loose curls. I was hoping to find something that would help the thinning out(I was anemic for a while so I knew that did damage) but also keep it healthy from the coloring without making it super greasy like my roots D:
I wouldn’t recommend a clarifying shampoo as it will strip the color out of your hair and could make it more dry because you bleach, I would advise you to go with a strengthening shampoo that’s color safe. Pureology strength cure shampoo mixed with pureology pure volume conditioner could be a good mid for you. OR swapped, pureology pure volume shampoo and strength cure conditioner. But I would absolutely use a heat protection after your shower. Like Olaplex.
Is it ok if the use the shampoo n conditioner of function? My hair keep falling a lot n I have curly hair as well. Can u plss recommend me if I can use it or not?
Yes you should be fine. If you’re concerned about excess hair shedding, more than 200-300 hairs a day, you might consider talking to your doctor.
What other products do you recommend besides function of beauty ? I’m looking for more natural products
I have some reviews coming up I think you’ll like!
What shampoo and conditioner do you recommend for dry and itchy scalp that also can moisturize your hair? My hair loves to frizz and needs a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, I have been trying to look for a good one.
Hmm, that’s a hard one. Have you tried any Kerastase products? Using something that’s specific for you scalp as a shampoo and then something very moisturizing as a conditioner
Bain vital Dermo calm is a product I’ve used when my hair was VERY flaky and dry, but make sure you add a moisturizing conditioner
Hello! Maybe I missed that part but what do you think about sillicone? Would you recommend getting the shampoo and condition with or without it? 🤔
Hi! So... not all silicones are bad. Certain silicones can help your hair retain moisture and fight frizz. As for the silicone in FOB, you might have to try it out to see how it goes because certain silicones can also leave buildup in your hair and irritate your scalp. I honestly can't remember which one I got. Going silicone free might be the safer bet, but you might lose out on some of the smoothening and softening effects. Not a super definitive answer, I know. But hopefully that gives you some more food for thought.
If it helps, I got the silicone-free option and my (very fine) hair has been really soft, and definitely no irritation of my scalp.
Can you do a review on Aussie shampoo and conditioner the moisturizer one or the curly hair one please!
Hi! Thanks for asking! I typically would advise against using brands like Aussie. The most beneficial ingredients are usually last on their list and many times can strip your hair of essential oils. If you're on a budget, Brad Mondo (super popular CZcams hair stylist) made a video comparing drug store shampoos. He landed on Herbal Essence but I don't think he reviewed Aussie czcams.com/video/zfMBuE0hE28/video.html. Ultimately, if it's working for you I'm not going to say stop using it, but based on the ingredient list and my experience with hair products at that level, I would say there are better products you could get for curly hair for just a little bit more. FoB can be a good step up for some people. If you're willing to stretch your budget Ouidad can also be a really good option for curly hair. I hope that helps!
I have curl hair on my bangs and wavy/straight everywhere else and it get frizzy..I never found a shampoo/conditioner that works. Any recommendations please?
We recommend Bumble and Bumble Hair Dresser's Invisible Oil for almost anyone. It's great and it works for a lot of different hair types. Let us know if you try it out and if you like it. Here's a link to it on Amazon: amzn.to/3d0ZP4A
And here is a video we made about it: czcams.com/video/--B-aznfjoY/video.html
Hope that helps!
just got my FOB - so curious to try it out. i got it for the purple shampoo but ended up getting conditioner, mask and serum, too. Do you have a purple shampoo you recommend? Thanks!
Pureology has one that's good and kerastase has one too - I prefer blonde shampoos that have strength as well.
Hey what's your review???
Did you purchase the silicone free version? Debating whether or not I should choose the silicone free option. Thank you! 😊
I don’t remember. If you have frizzy hair the silicones will help it not be frizzy… but if you have an allergy than you wouldn’t want to get it. I hope that helps!
Hello! So I have think straight hair, and I’ve been wanting to tame my hair to have some sort of waves or curls naturally without a perm and stuff. I have gotten a perm and highlights but I only highlighted my hair once and it’s not the super bleach color but it’s a type of highlight where it won’t affect my perm. If I put down I want curl definition as a goal does that mean it will help me try to tame my hair to come out curly? And if so after using this shampoo and conditioner to my specialty what other products would you recommend me use to help my curl journey? I currently have a perm hair but it’s just the ends because my roots fully came out and stuff. If you could please help me answer this question it would be greatly appreciated. I’m tired of perming and Damaging my hair so much
First thing I would suggest: stop perming, which it sounds like you have done. 2.) focus on moisture and repair - after perming, you probably don’t even know what your natural texture is. 3.) be patient 4.) you could try prose: I just did a review and it offered a great range for people with different types of curly hair
The Bumble and bumble liters are a good price!
Yes, it’s way more economical
Did you buy the one with silicones or without? Thanks a lot for sharing this🙏🏼
I think I have the one with... the only thing I omitted was the dyes.
