Yep. Absolutely feel like you, Sam. Capharnaum...half finish...and very small space.
Here in Texas, most people over a certain age don't go to visit empty-handed. Younger people don't really do that, but middle aged and older people usually do. Even if it's just a box of pastries or a similar treat.

Are you also at the dacha now?😊
I have dacha and I love gardening in my 37. My wife too.
Brilliant! I think it's something that I will like in the future.
you're old inside.
@@zloychechen5150 Maybe I'm old inside or dead already, or maybe it's just a stupid stereotype that the dacha and gardening is only for pensioners. Do I have to worry about anyone's opinion, if I like my life and I do what brings me pleasure?

Thanks for showing real Russia.
I hope you don't get cancelled like Sasha Meets Russia.
Thanks. I hope not too! We are all at the hands of the google gods.
Nice!!
@@SamsRussianAdventures i remember that in about 1995 you'd walk around these gardening communities, and standard 600m2 plots were up for sale for 100 roubles. That was before denomination, when everything got divided by 1000. So it wasn't like dirt cheap, it was pig shit cheap, and nobody wanted them. Good luck now..
Much love from Oklahoma, USA. Interesting stuff showing the Dachas and gardens. Oddly enough, my home resembles these in many ways. Maybe I am Russian after all.

Dacha is important for many reasons. It provides a place to unwind, enjoy time with friends and family, grow vegetables and fruits, soak up the sun, and relax in nature. Dacha also allows you to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy some much-needed downtime.
Dacha is the best.😁
Yes, you are right, though I personally prefer a stand alone dacha rather than a dacha settlement.

Dear Sam, I just got back from 34 days in Yekaterinburg to visit my fiancée. We practically lived at her Dacha, and no it is not just you. The lack of orderliness of the place drove me crazy and you are so right, nothing is thrown away. A way to use it will be found, or sometime 20 years from now it will be needed. Don't get me wrong, the place was immaculate inside but I would have killed for a straight line and not so much quirkiness, but that is what makes her a delight to be around. I love your channel brother. I even watched it when I was over there. I am moving to Russia, that is the place for me.
Brilliant mate! I’m glad you love Russia and that you enjoyed your time at the dacha with your other half. Also great to know that I’m not the only one who can’t stand the fact that something maybe stored on the land for use in 20 years time!!!!
Move to Russia. Everything will be fine.
You can live in Russia just like in any other country. The people are friendly. The language is also easy to learn. 90 30-minute audio lessons using the Pimsleur method, and you will learn to speak Russian just like Sam.

Great content Sam, my whole family watched the festival you recently filmed. Even our teenagers were interested. Good Job!
Brilliant! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ll have similar videos to that one on the way soon.
@SamsRussianAdventures I'll tell you why I think you have the best channel about Russia. First, you show all of Russia, the good and bad. I never know what to expect. Second, many Westerners living there miss opportunities to carry on a conversation with locals. I guess their Russian is really bad. Some have been there long enough to be speaking the language. I know I lived in Germany after leaving the military. After 3 years, I was talking to everyone. Maybe without perfect grammar, but people didn't seem to mind.
Those Dacha’s are the same design that my in laws had. They had to sell it a few years ago due to age and not being able to do the maintenance on it. Loved going there in the summer.
Yes, they are all a similar style. Perhaps you will buy one when you are older!
@@SamsRussianAdventures unfortunately not. That’s what I like about Russian culture they know how to take it easy and if you do make decent money you could buy a Dacha. Depending on where you go a cottage here could cost you anywhere between 100,000 to over 1million. So out of reach for a lot of people here in Canada. And if your near water expect to pay more in property taxes as well.
If I were 20 years younger and thought my dumb brain could learn Russian I would love to live in Russia. However I am not. I am almost 64 and I struggled to learn English and I am English. With the swift cut off there is no easy way I could manage financially in Russia. I do enjoy your channel and adventures.
Perhaps you can come here for a holiday!
@@SamsRussianAdventures I would if I could but I am in very poor health. I would love to see Red Square, Moscow and St Petersburg but I can barely walk due to failed back surgery. I live in Hungary and am settled in here for almost 10 years.

2:04 The principle of the tandoor is to heat the walls and the heat from the walls of the tandoor will cook the meat. Fire will destroy the meat.
Tandoor is a brazier oven, a special spherical or jug-shaped grill for preparing a variety of food among the peoples of Asia, the Caucasus, and the Balkan Peninsula. The earliest ovens similar to the tandoor were found in ancient India.
I see that all these are houses of typical Soviet construction of those years (approximately the early 80s), when having a dacha was very popular for 90% of the population of the USSR. The state gave land to workers and employees (city residents) free of charge as their property.
Yes, it’s interesting to see how this meat is cooked, I never used one before. These houses are very old as you said.
@giggling_boatswain - those ovens are brilliant, even for Nan bread. In Farsi (Persian) the ovens are called ‘tanoor’ though as you say in Indian languages etc it is tandoor oven.
Glad you got to see that area during the 1980s.

Absolutely beautiful. I grew up in a rural area and was raised by my grandparents. In a way, this took me home again with all the chickens and gardening and the simple life. BTW, that big chicken is the rooster. Also, shashlik, plov, khinkali, etc. are all beautiful foods. You said you don't eat pork sausage. Have you tried sujuk or cevapcici? Both are lamb or beef sausages. Molodec, Sam. Blagosloveniya i mir.
Hi mate. I do eat sausages which are halal or kosher and my favourite sausage is a Jewish one. I’ll look out for the ones you said.
@@SamsRussianAdventures I have had Armenian sujuk and Croatian and Serbian cevapcici. Excellent. Sujuk is loaded with garlic. Kosher and halal sausages are excellent, too.
@@SamsRussianAdventures
Sam, come on! The religious ban on eating pork was born in countries where the first freezers appeared only in the 20th century. (Israel, Arabia). The night of December 24-25 has always been Sacred in northern Europe (thousands of years before Jesus) . Crimson Rivers of Blood were spilled that night. It was on this night that a northern peasant was slaughtering pigs and steers. He'll sell EVERYTHING in the morning! on this day, the townspeople will buy meat in carcasses and half carcasses. after all, there are two whole months ahead when meat can be stored in an unheated room, like in a freezer. Have Jews or Arabs never had such luxury? That's why we can eat pork, but they can't. cadaverous spots in 40" heat per 100 kg pig carcass will appear within 8 hours after slaughter. at a temperature of 50 " - after three hours. at a temperature of -3 " C - never!
ANY RELIGION ONLY "LEGITIMIZES" LOCAL CUSTOMS THAT HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Both Jews and Arabs knew perfectly well that a pig is the MOST productive pet. they didn't have the opportunity to store large carcasses, even for 2 days! the ideal meat for Israel is chicken. it weighs 1.5-2 kg, the family eats it in 1 sitting.
Plov, Pelmini, Veriniki, yum all dishes we have regularly at my house. Delicious!
Awesome clip as always thanks Sam. Cant wait to bring my wife and children back to Russia next year.
Brilliant! Seems like you household members will be happy 😃
We still have allotments in the UK and they are much sought after as there are not nearly so many as there used to be. My sister-in-laws son-in-law has a large allotment in a field at the bottom of her garden which is very convenient for him. He likes growing his own food.
I remember having them in the area where I lived but they were all sold and houses were built on the land
He's great. You yourself can see the composition of chemicals in every product in the store. And when you grow fruits and vegetables yourself, you know for sure that there are no chemicals there. Cucumbers smell like cucumbers, apples smell like apples. While many people simply enjoy spending a lot of time digging in the soil in their garden, it's a great way to relieve stress if you live in a busy city. We all love to leave the city on weekends to go to our dachas.

Russian sources on request, why do they translate statistics that make them look so bad,
@@Maratreason they don’t do it to relieve stress. 60% of Russians spend more than 50% of their income on food. Basically it is a garden association sort of like condo associations in the US, where you pay monthly dues to maintain grounds and abide rules
Yes, pretty much. But you own the land and can sell it.
Is very similar! Such holiday villages are called SNT (garden non-profit partnership), during the Soviet era, plots in them were allocated free of charge by the organization in which the person worked. The house and everything else had to be built by yourself. You can grow berries, vegetables, fruits, flowers for yourself, but not for sale, or you can sow a lawn and relax, but we don’t do that 😆 The annual membership fee is approximately 3000-5000 ₽ (40-60 dollars).

Of course, this is the land of camaraderie. If you want your land for agricultural or industrial - please buy! Well, don’t hesitate, you can always sell 😉
я... In English... a lot 😅
great vid Sam
Looks pretty similar to German garden communities where you can rent or buy plot build a small cabin and do some gardening and relaxing. The grill thingy looks basically like a variant of the classical egg shaped US BBQ. I hate public restrooms because they always stink to hell. I only use them if no other option.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing! I remember that we used to have them in the UK but I don't know if they exist anymore! The first time I saw this egg shaped BBQ was in Russia.
@@SamsRussianAdventures the specific shape is Russian. The US versions are rounder but still same thing.
❤😊😊
Thank you!
thanks sam
Thanks for the watching!
I would love to live in a Dacha settlement. Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa🥰
👍👍👍
Absolutely fascinating. The West has lost much of that self sufficiency. That the Russian's eat so much home grown food rather than processed food is a major strength. These guys are survivors.
We still have allotments in the UK, they are much smaller and you are not allowed to live on them. There's actually two in proximity to where I live.
Russia has some of the best farmland in the world and plenty of it. But are really really bad at exploiting it. Thats why they had to get foreign farmers in to help with production.. And it helped as you see...
However the foreign farmers are not not happy many of them ended up with big debt because Russian government forced them to sell back to russians really cheap..
Great video. Highly enjoyable. Do another.
Mate, what's the beef with pork?
Will do, I’ve actually made a few videos there already. I just don’t like pork.
What lovely Soviet summer houses.
Good live
The sunlight looks so different there.
Cool video are there wild dear and stuff running around in the outskirts of the city's?
Who was singing when you were driving a car?
Dear Sam they are real potato plants, our neigbouring municipality is famous for it's potatoes known all around Spain. here the problem is wild protected boars, they need
to eat and invade and really are a problem
We have boars but only far from civilisation.
