  • All of us carry one onboard, but really few know actually what's inside a liferaft, what's does it carry...etc.
    Thanks a lot to Plastimo for inviting me to follow the packing of my new liferaft for the Mini Transat.

    Just finished Adrift by Steven Callahan where he spent 76 days surviving in a raft across the Atlantic in the trades, so this is pretty timely. Interesting to consider changes from the past vs current life rafts and how they decide what equipment is in and what's out. Also interesting to consider that these aren't really set up to successfully survive in for any duration like that. Thanks for the factory tour!!

    • @TheSailingFrenchman
      @TheSailingFrenchman  Před 3 lety +1

      Exactly, because emergency beacons like EPIRB are getting better, liferaft is considered as a transition more than anything else

  • @svchineeljunk-riggedschoon4038

    In mine is probably just plastic mush at this point. It's in an old suitcase on the deck. Was no way I had time or money to service it before setting off across the Atlantic. But I felt ok doing so as a Junk Rig has many options for redundancy and I kept my inflatable kayak ready for a dire emergency.
