Baylan beat Ahsoka in the first and matched her in the second and may have won if he wasn't taken aback by the ships. A real good character and villain. RIP Ray, we remember you❤.
agreed. Ray was such a presence in this show and it won’t be the same without him
ahsoka only lost in the first fight because of burning her hand. she had the upper hand before then. the second fight she was just trying to get past him. we never really got a real to the death duel between them

Hey takes me as a Djem so practitioner, brute force, and heavy power attacks. While Ahsoka's Shien style of Form V is just a bit faster and more acrobatic but not as strong
@@gabegu5102 His heavy attacks show, her speed and skill dose not help her, cause his guard is strong like his strikes.
One of the best and most realistic light-Saber duels in Star Wars.
0:41 That motion _vroom_ from the blade and small side step made this former Jedi intimidating in stature, composed, controlled, competent and badass.
Agreed, you can see he is a paragon of strength and will, wisdom and power. Not rash and aggressive like most sith, rather a fallen Jedi.
I do like how they incorporated more of a story in the first battle. The slow calculating moments of the opening fight, trying to see if there are any kinks in the other’s movement, sizing each other up. Always looking for an opening and maintaining distance so they can regain their timing.

Baylan's saber is much brighter in the actual show compared to how it looked in the trailer. This makes it appear more red than orange. Not sure why they made this change, but in my opinion, it removed a little bit of the uniqueness of his and Shin's sabers.
It’s still very different from a typical sith saber. Watch the scene where Ashoka kills the inquisitor again, and when it switches to shin you can tell a distinct difference.
My guess is possibly time constraints. Maybe they had a deadline to hit with the teaser trailer and then kept working on it between that and official launch

Star wars is really an universe where being old and big does not mean you are outmatched towards an younger and more agile opponent.

Ray Steveson's Form V Shien was near perfect. Very aggressive heavy hitting attacks using his lightsaber like a Broadsword in the same Style as Vader since he is such a big guy.

Baylan definitely beat Ahsoka in the first match up but I wonder if the outcome would be different if her hand wasn't injured.
He was loosing it and in the second one she could kill him like 2-3 times. Im sure in the current timeline she is second only to Luke.
@@Zekzt hardly say he was losing because she kicked him over. The second fight they were fairly evenly matched.
She couldn't beat him. He's literally taking it easy on her, he doesn't want to have to kill Ashoka.
no offense to ashoka's actress, but it's very clear especially in that first fight that she is not able to keep up the pace these fights need so the other actors need to slow down or stop and let her catch up. Maybe it comes down to the costume, maybe it's her. But it's very clear she can not keep pace
@kylepeters8690 yeah. Honestly I think it’s just because Ahsoka’s actress is unfit. She put on a lot of weight between The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, and had to wear a corset to keep her belly in which probably worsened her flexibility
@@TonyStark-zt5fe I don't pay much attention to actors in their lives, so if that is the case I could see that. I brought up the costume as due to disney slashing the budget it could be that her lekku aren't as fastened to her head as they used to be or anything.
but I do find it very ironic that I've seen damn near nothing but praise for the ashoka saber battles. Yet to me they all just look bad. Slow and poorly choreographed. This one Baylen is doing a good job but the Morgan fight just seemed so badly done to me.
@kylepeters8690 yeah to be fair, I think the lekku could’ve been an issue as they extended them to make them more accurate to the animated shows. Maybe they could’ve just cgi’d them in for fight scenes? I definitely do think that Rosario was a big issue as well though because she doesn’t really have the required athletic background and basically did as many duels as possible which made them all look clunky because she kind of sucks at doing anything fitness oriented (lol). Baylan, Anakin, Marrok - heck even Morgan all duel better than Ahsoka because they’ve all had significant prior experience with duelling and being fit in general
@@TonyStark-zt5fe I could see that as well. It feels like they also wanted to work in the acrobatics with ashoka specifically, but did it in a very poor way so the characters just have to stand by and wait for her to do her spins and flips. I like spins, jumps and flips in fights, but if it slows the fight down that much and the opponent is clearly waiting for their turn. Don't bother.

Nope, me too. In fact, I believe that back in the 80’s before the prequels most people imagined that this is what Vader looked liked before he got burnt (but younger looking lol)

Не нравится мне стиль у Байлана грубый, топорный, движения резкие хоть и действенный, но не красивый. У того же Энакина более плавый и гармоничный в последствии когда станет Вейдером тоже притерпит изменения, но там из-за костюма.
For all her speed and talent. Baylan is still way more powerful. Even when she is dule wielding, still outmatched, shes lucky he did not kill her.

Huge improvement of disney's lightsaber choreography. It's been garbage until this. Except for the Luke scene
This is definitely an improvement from some of the more mid duels in recent star wars but I do wish they got the person who did the fight with maul in clone wars as a stunt double

She could have easily killed him at 4:13. This is just lazy choreography.
