- This is a Nissan Skyline R33 Series 2.. a beautiful example of one of the most iconic cars to ever come out of Japan. This car has been modified to replicate a R33 GTR and to me this is how all R33 Skylines should look! This car was so fun to drive and the price of these cars has come down so much they are really affordable!

Always loved the r33 the most. Theyre aging well. Theyre like the tuxedo of skylines in my opinion.

The upgraded headlights on the series 2 make an incredible difference to the car. Improved its looks no end.

I use to own one of these 12 years ago, streets were flooded with skylines now they getting so rare.
they really are hard to find in good shape now.. n even if you find one they want a bloody house deposit! long gone the days you could pick one up for like 7-8k

Same mate. Sold mine 12 years ago. Recently I could not believe my luck, stumbled upon one on car sales that is identical to my old one. Went straight over there to put a deposit on it. I could not believe my luck. It is immaculate. Bought it from a 60 year old fella with autism. He never drove it. Owned it for 20 years. I Ended up buying it 4 months ago and will never ever get rid of it. So happy!

Hi, Ross. I owned a 1997 R33 GTST SII for four years from 2003. It was a fun car. The requirement was to fit two cricket bags in the boot and two teenage boys in the back seat, which it did comfortably.
I got it from a shady dealer in Perth, who I later found out had wound it back by 40,000 kms or so. Fairly typical of the genre, unfortunately. It was still a belter, though.
All I did to it was a bigger exhaust, HKS intake pod with CAI, HKS blow-off valve (with plumb back after I got sick of the pppssshhoooo noise) and an R34 GTT intercooler. And some better looking wheels, of course! I wanted the SII because of the twin air bags. Why on earth you would rip out a steering wheel with an air bag just to make your car look cool is beyond me. You can always have that chat with the maxillofacial surgeon when he is rebuilding your face after a crash.
I loved the car and sold it, in spotless condition, to some kid who wrapped it around a tree.
I upgraded to an R34 GTR VSpecII - but that's another story. 👍😎🗿

The R33 gts-t is a totally underrated car. So much focus has been put on the GTR the gtst has remained a real bargain in comparison.
Being rear wheel drive they are so much fun and the rb25 can be quite happy at 5-600 bhp with supporting modifications.
95% of a GTR at a fraction of the price with RWD fun frown in for free 🙂.
Timon Cooke couldn’t agree more and hope some people can see this as a prime example the owner sold this for like 14g aud bargain..

I'm feeling the same way. I don't even really want AWD and I'm not going to build a 1000hp drag car, so all of the upsides to the GTR fade away for me. I'd much rather get the GTS-T and throw a nice bodykit like this one on it and honestly probably have more fun. The lighter weight of the GTS-T doesn't hurt either, I drove an R34 GTR in Japan and the weight definitely was noticeable and more than I would've liked.

but seriously you can import a clean r33gtst with no issues for under 10k..
The LSD diff was also available in the 94 GTST. This turbo made by garrett is a 2000 r34 model that's not standard to this car.

Nice car! That’s the same year as mine, but mine is a GTR Vspec that I RB30 swapped. Those seats are from the series 1 GTR. The series 2 were red stitching and the series 1 was blue. Easy way to tell the difference.

correction - series 1 & the series 2 (facelift) engines have the SAME identical factory ecu, it wasn't 'improved'. The difference is (like you'd mentioned) in the ignition system - instead of one common igniter, each coil had it's own built-in igniter.
You need to come over to New Zealand and see how we treat the rb 😂

Usable back seat, usable boot! And affordable to the normal bloke! My r33 gtst had a baby seat, then a booster seat behind the passenger seat for over 12 years! Still my daily driver after owning for 18 years, and loving it!
Yessir I’ve got two seats in mine both my kids fit comfy in the back. Abosultly love my 33
I dont understand getting rid of a work of art you love when you have kids, if there is a back seat.... sounds like your skylines have been as practical as an overrated suv(wish we got them in left hand drive)
I've had my skyline longer than my daughter has been alive! She grew up with it just being dad's car, no big deal. I always said "It's yours when I'm dead!" .......now she's 15, wants a manual license, and perhaps planning on killing me for it! hahaha@@JonathanLittle001

glad you enjoyed it! the price when i filmed this nearly a year n a half ago.. the prices where low like 10K could get you a nice one.. now we have covid tax on all are cars and the price is more like 15-25k! for a GTST!!!! crazy
@@RossReviewsau yeah same as. Ours are not covid tax tho. Rise about £2K every year anyway. Got mine for £3000 seven years ago. Been quite a healthy investment.

Almost everyone who makes a video about the skyline will read almost everything from the vin number as if fan boys cant tell if its an R33 Gtst or gtr. Plus being reminded in every sentence helps as we can forget what it is in a few minutes. I am a fanboy too..have one on jack stands.

I’ve never heard them being called a “Spec 2”, I’ve heard V SPEC 2 in the GT-R’s.
i should have called it a series 2 like in the title lol.. 2nd generation basically of the R33 gtst

Get it mate, I owned one back in the day and it's the best car I've owned so far. I had to slow at 178 mph, but was still being chucked back into the seat, only car I've ever had tunnel vision in
Big difference man😅 GTR R34 is a whole nother level of car.. they did make 34 gtt cars witch are much more similar to this.. but are quite rare.. you can’t really go wrong getting a car like this one i reviewed they are really cheap and can be made to look so so good!😍 and they go plenty fast enough for the average enthusiast!

Few more things now that I had a good think
front end a few changes ; Bonnet had sharper lines, bumper was slightly different, headlights also
At the rear the keyhole in the boot was covered with a Nissan badge that you swivel to access it
Inside; passenger airbag, I think trim was slightly different also
And it had duel airbags
Series 2 also had an option for a sunroof, the series 1 or 1.5 never got sunroofs

I owned both a gtst and a gtr. Preferred the gtst. Maybe it was because it was my first skyline or maybe its because there's something special about being able to fishtail in second gear 😂

Also the series 2 Rb25 has variable valve timing and the series 1 didn't. Why you'd put GTR parts on it, ypure right, it's not a GTR. . . Its ridiculous. Taking out the factory steering wheel is stupid cause it had airbags.
I'm sorry but those screamer pipes sound like absolute garbage. Completely ruins the amazing sound of the RB
