    The Gtst can be set up to handle very well despite been rear wheel drive only... in some aspects it is a better platform to work with been the best part of 200 kilos lighter , Gtr is a beast for sure and will be in a class of it's own in the wet... it is king!
    My gtst has very good aftermarket suspension, sticky tires and a wider wheel up front then it really should have but on track days could even take some r32 gtr enthusiasts for a few laps who were astounded as to the grip and particularly grip under brakes my car had

    Looks almost like my GTST. I love it. I see a good bit of GTRs here. The bumper is harder to fit. That GTST is a Series 2. Insure but I think the series 1 and 2 are interchangeable? If could I’d post pics from earlier. Took pics of my slow GTST with her bigger sister, a midnight purple pearl GTR. Oh, and if anyone had QM1 white side mirrors, let me know. (I was thinking of doing a bronze wheels. That car looks good )the GTR is 2 inches wider front and back from what I can tell.

      No, the GTR wing was a component of an optional package that was made available with the Gtst when they released the facelift series 2.
      You could order a normal Gtst with an arch-shaped rear spoiler which was made taller with the series 2, then you could tick the box for the 'Spec M' package consisting of pods for the sides of the rear bumper, side skirts, add-on lower lip for the front bumper and the adjustable GTR wing. This package was obviously available with the 40th anniversary model - which was only available in the midnight purple colour. There were some purple anniversary models sold without the GTR wings but not many as most people that bought them wanted the Spec M kit - I've seen a few over the years without the body kit. The anniversary models were sometimes known as the series 3 as they were the very last ones built in 1998 before the transition of production shifted to R34s which had the RB25det NEO engine. The Nissan/Prince factory must've ran out of stock with the RB25 by this stage of production (or for whatever reason) and they ended up installing the RB25 NEOs into the last few of the R33s.
      The RB25 NEO engine was closer in spec with the RB26dett at the top end with solid lifters which made it much more rev-happy - as demonstrated by the differences in the red lines of the tachos between the GTST and GTR.
      I worked as a mechanic in a workshop that was preparing imported Japanese cars for compliance for Australian roads, with a fun job like that, you'd tend to pick up a fair bit in terms of knowledge...

    @markb8467 Před rokem +3

    Only real reason to have a gtr over a gtst is if you want more than 500-600hp to the wheels gtst becomes pretty unusable with a lack of traction, gtr even with 1000hp And spinning all 4 wheels you’ll still have twice the grip and take off where a gtst with 650hp. The gtst will be spinning 1-4th gear unless you’re easing into each gear or running radial tyres.
    Also r33 gtst = $25,000-$30,000aud
    R33 Gtr = $70,000-$120,000aud. Way more than double.

    You've got the series 2 of the gtst there which was built in 1996 - 1998. The series 1 (1993 - 1995) has different headlights and hood hence the series 2 being the 'facelift'
    model. Nissan did the same thing with the Silvia / 200sx of the same period revising the appearance of the front end in 1996 with the release of the S14A. The headlights on the series one of the Gtst had profiles that are almost identical to the GTR with the round-smooth transitions whereas the series 2 had sharper 'square' angles at the tops of the headlights.
    The boot lock is identical on all R33 in the middle with the slide-over lid, so it must have been modified on the example you have there, they must've removed it and plated it over.
    There was a Spec M version of the Gtst that had the GTR wing, side skirts and rear pods, along with an extension lower lip added onto the front bumper... all as factory options
    The was a AWD version of the GTST called the GTS4 which ran the turbocharged RB25DET with the GTR's AWD gearbox, transfer case and the front differential mounted to the bottom of the RB25 by using the RB26 sump which the front differential was integrated with.
    The was a very rare 4 door sedan version of the GTR , the wider bulge section of the rear wheel arches start at the midway of the rear doors, hence the rear doors are unique ONLY to the 4-door GTR. THERE WAS NO 4-DOOR VERSIONS OF THE GTR WITH THE R32 OR R34.
    The was a special and very rare 'lightweight' edition of the Gtst series 2 with only 200 built in 1997. These had a smooth appearance at the rear as they had no rear window wiper (I've got one).
    I've stroked the RB25 on my GTST series 2 out to a 3.4 litres by using an aftermarket stroker crank along with a 3 litre block from a RB30 engine that was only available in Australia and New Zealand versions of the R31 Skyline...even the Japanese didn't have the RB30 engine - they had the RB20 in their JDM R31. My GTST is 8 levels above the GTR LOL 437 kw (594 hp) @ wheels ... it's not much fun anymore hence why I rarely drive it - u can't drive it 'properly' just anywhere except out at the race circuit on a club organised track day. You don't need to use the hand brake to initiate a drift - just plant the throttle and she'll drift on command, it's a big time throttle-steerer - you don't need to use the steering wheel to change directions !?!
    After dedicating 15 years on the R33 project, I'm now making plans on my next project - a turbocharged VR6 engine into a 2016 Polo with 4motion AWD from a Bora.

      @@Carsaddiction except he is wrong, the GTS-4 is not turbocharged. It’s powered by a RB25DE. I know so, because I own one.
      There are a lot of differences but also a lot of similarities.
      Example: The front suspension is almost 1:1 with a GT-R
      Rear suspension is more like a GTS(T)
      Attessa system in the GTS-4 is same as in the stock GT-R but the speedo cluster has a 4wd light and ‘slip’ light to let you know when you are breaking traction.
      I own a 4 door GTS-4 but upgraded the engine to a RB30 with RB25 head. Making about 500BHP, and with an ETS-Pro 4wd controller it can be very balanced on the streets.
      Acceleration is awesome due to the fact that the GTS-4 has a shorter diff ratio than a GT-R. 4.11 vs 4.37.
      GTS-4 platform is pretty equal to the GT-R platform, except engine.
      Funny fact:
      The Autech GT-R was made from a base model GTS-4.

  • @CarlDSLR

    GTR has slightly more aggressive styling. Driving the 2 feels almost the same if driving moderately. The ATTESA is really what separates the 2 for obvious reasons. ATTESA and the RB26 handle extreme power upgrades better. A lot of the comparisons in this video are not entirely correct as this is a comparison between a GTR of unknown series (there are 3), and a series 2 GTST. A series 1 GTST is almost exactly the same as the GTR in the front end styling and dimensions.

      "A series 1 GTST is almost exactly the same as the GTR in the front end styling and dimensions."
      Hmm, so would that imply that an OEM GTR front bumper would fit only on a Series 1 GTST? Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying.

    • @user-kc2ru5xo4k
      @user-kc2ru5xo4k Před 2 lety +4

      The series 1 GTST appears the same as the GTR only because of the rounder profiles of the series 1 headlights, but let me assure you, they are very different - the bonnet latch sit at a totally different location when comparing the two, the 'nose' of the bonnets sit at different heights. They look the same at a glance, but that's where the similarities end. You can only tell definitely if you have attempted to fit a genuine GTR front end onto a GTST - THEY HAVE DIFFERENT RADIATOR SUPPORT PANELS ! so the differences are structural as well !! We turned a GTST into a GTR once - we imported a 450kw genuine R33 GTR as a track car and when it arrived, we decided it was too good a combo not to have it on the streets, but because it was declared as a track-only use vehicle, we couldn't register the VIN, so we swapped the bodies, including unstitching the rear quarter panels. Nobody could tell it started life as a GTS when we were done unless you checked the numbers lol. That was a HUGE job, but worth it. We ended up getting GTR money for it too, even after we let the buyer in on the facts of it being a lower spec'd GTS...that's how good the work on it was - after doing the numbers that includes cost of (our own) labour, we still came out at the end with a AUD $25k profit !! And who says you can't make money modifying cars ?!? Lol
