  • Upgrading a Power Wheels motor is a must for bringing some excitement into your kids life. I have changed the motors on many of my daughters Power Wheels and today it is time to upgrade yet another Power Wheels motor with a much faster one. I take you step by step in how easy it is to change out one of these motors so you too can see your kids face light up with their new incredibly fast Power Wheel. I listed some parts down below, links to different motors and such that I personally have used in several of our cars that have worked very well for us. Again make sure whichever motor you buy has the steel gear in it as it will be your best bet for longevity. Thanks for checking us out! As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

If you have overheating issues with this type of motor you should allow some airflow by drilling holes into the plastic. Also you should get a Motor cooler, it's the same principle as a PC's cooler but specifically for these motors (also comes with a little fan for extra cooling power). I've been using them in my high powered RC cars for a long time and never had a motor burn out on me!

For a lot of power wheels / Kid Trax you can if you like put a motor on the OTHER rear wheel on the opposite side and tie it into the same cabling (swap polarity on the motor) which will increase your torque and traction.

I'm following the link you have for the 40k and you had mentioned in the video that it had the metal gear, but the amazon page shows it as having a plastic gear. is there a different one to use at this point? Though I'm basing it off the first picture and the inner gearbox picture and the show plastic gears

I have a car like this and it has an RX18 12V (15ah) receiver and 2 12v 12000rpm motors. It came with 2 6V 4ah batteries. For an upgrade, what I did was buy 2 new 12v 35000rpm motors and a 12v rx43 receiver (40ah). Now that I have installed everything the car has no power to pull out it and I just don't know what to do. When it finishes charging the batteries it has the power to pull out well or 2 or 3 times at inclined location, but if it's at a straight track it pull out normally and get high speeds. If I need new batteries, what is the best combination? 2 new 6V batteries powerful, 1 new 12V or 2 new 12 batteries?

I parallel 4 step up boost controller, put 0.22r 5w resistor on each + out. Then i bump up the motor voltage 20%. At first motor heat up too fast, then i drill a hole near the motor and attach 9cm ball bearing fan blewing out. Salvaged it from old cctv decoder. Small fan with high rpm, loud but it works😁.

What you are going to do is take out the barter system and find the main power wire (Red) and main ground (black) and wire those into the 18 volt battery, 12 volt battery or whatever battery setup you like. The powerwheels brand has different gearbox and the motors are 12V or 12 Turns.
They're gear accordingly because different cars has different wheels size.
    I run them on 5s 50C lipo.(STOCK)
They havnt burnout, yet. I do know they cant handle 6s 50C lipo.
it also depends on the LI ON batteries you're using. Different power drill has different
    C ratings...( the 18-20V) are 5s 18650 lion...20C or 30C.
    I made 6s x3 2200 mah 15C pack ( 6600 mah)...but they;re used recycled at only 15C.
so I increase it to 6s. The 5s LIpo at 50C still out perform it...due to higher discharge C ratings..But it;s close...it'll do power slides and donuts.
I take them on 2 -3 miles drive or to the park all the time...
Everything is STOCK.except for the Lipo batteries.
I get the cars USED( $35-$50) for cheaper than the batteries.lol
i have the Bug and quad..ive ran it on 18V....but most of the time I run it on 3s 50C
for the 1 1/2 yr old...lol....All the kids learn on the bug.lol
You'll go through wheels...becuase of the powersilde and donuts.lmao
DO NOT put bike tires on the rear....it'll grip and jerk the car and WONT power silde/drift.
You can get vinyln trim...( lower wall trims...$2.50 ea)...it's flat.
It'll grip..but will still power slide
Do use bike tires for the front...so it'll grip.
If you dont...after the plastic wears...it'll UNDER STEER...or the car wont
turn no matter how much they turn the steering wheel.lmao
    Or..gardening divider ( $30 p/ 3O feet roll) it's just 4mm thick flat harder plastic.
It takes...work..becuase the plastic is stiffer. ..and you'll have to COUNTER SUNK
the FLAT HEAD sheet metal screws..so it'll sit as flush as it can...So it WONT GRIP.lol
They'll figure out how to do powerslide and donuts..It's sort of like a little bumper
car for them. More work.....but it is what is. They wont drive it..unless it drift.lmao
Or get used power wheels every month for $30..lol
They're always on sale on FB market or swamp meets...ect
    I could had purchase 4-ea the other day...but i have 12 cars already.lol
I have nephews and grand kids...it's like a mad house in my front yards..
when I get 6 kids on powerwheels racing/drifting on 18v-20V.lmao
Try installing another motor on the other side....but why..just get a used power wheels
    for $30.lol
I have Not powerwheels brand 12V with 2 -ea motors... I ran it on 18V...
The powerwheels gose faster...due to gearing. Th e kids wont ride it..becuase
they know which one is faster.lol
    It a lender carlol

Doesn’t have a cap. You will be able to turn down the voltage that the motors are seeing from the battery regulating the speed of the motors to your comfort level per child.

I bought my son one of those cheap chinese tractors off amazon. Its awesome, has features my real john deere doesnt have. I upgraded the motors from 15k rpm to 20k when one went bad. They were 10 bucks a pop and made a huge difference in the way the tractor drove. When he is sick of this thing i might get the 50k's and see if we can melt the wheels. The motors swap easy, juat had to solder tge original harness to tge new motor.

Sorry to keep replying to my own post but i also think getting cheap higher rpm motors, and maybe a better battery that is still the same voltage, is a safer way to achieve good results with less work. Either way the plastic gears will probably shred eventually but if they don't, you didn't really try your best.🤣

  • @jeremygeorgia4943
    @jeremygeorgia4943 Před 9 měsíci

If you put another motor on the other side, it could reduce the stress on the other motor. There seems to be a hole for the motor. The question is what the other wheel looks like. Some vehicles have a different wheel, that doesn't have a place for the motor to attach. In that case, you would probably have to order a replacement wheel, for the motor side. Some vehicles, however, have identical wheels, and a removable spacer, to take the place of the motor. That's the most ideal case.

If you want to save those motors get a large (500uF) capacitor that is more volts than your motor (50V for a 20V battery) and put it between the positive and negative on the motor. It acts like a shock absorber for electromagnetic spikes inside the motor when you're running higher voltage and start/stop like these things do. Blew a few before learning this trick. Keeps temps way down.
You can also put a self-recovering fuse inline so that if the motor is getting too hot that fuse will trip instead and stay tripped until it cools down.
