    Sweet! I've been waiting for this video. I really thought the stockagawa motor would have turned a better number, but like you said, it's no slouch, just different.

    Yeah I would hate to see you go down cause a motor failure. Just try to clutch in as fast as you can, cause when your rear wheel locks up at 80 mph shit gets crazy. I have even had it where I broke my chain on my quad 400ex and it wadded up around the rear axle causing the wheels to lock up. Be safe Hunter you have a lovely family to go home to brother!

    Usually I'm all for the low speed torque cuz its good useable power on street but that koso just screams. If the piston gives it anymore down low that's a win.

    My suggestion if you still having issues with that takegawa
    -Pull some ignition timing to reduce chances of detonation and high combustion temperatures
    -Or makes the air fuel ratio a little richer to combat the detonation and heat
    -Run higher octane fuel if you're not already
    -Go down one step cooler with the spark plug would help a bit with combustion temperatures
    -Add an oil cooler if you haven't already to help cool the engine a bit you can even add a fan to the oil cooler
    -And make sure you gap those piston rings according to your setup those rings WILL expand as temperatures go up

    I cruised through OshKosh today and thought about @HunterTuned. Ate some curds up in Greenbay @Al's Burgers. Nice Countryside and temps much better than the non-stop 100s down in Texas. 😂

    Glad to see this comparison, is the Takegawa the regular 4 valve head or the 5 axis one?

    How do you like that pipe fit finish or overall? Im thinking about buying that one i really like how it looks

  • @oliverscorsim

    Could just use a thinner base gasket for the koso

    so with the koso making nearly 30 HP would you rather have that or a cbr 300 swap?
    love the grom videos, keep up the good work.

    • @HunterTuned
      @HunterTuned  Před 2 lety +2

      It’s tough… cbr swap is just heavier which steers me away. Every other aspect tells me to do cbr swap though. Grom engines are also way more enjoyable to work on. Idk if that helps

      @@HunterTuned I have a 2022 with a 150cc kit. Was planning on picking up a cheap sf grom and doing the 300 swap. But seeing this made me think of just doing the koso kit. One of the biggest things on the CBR setup is the 6 speed though. 🤔 Decisions decisions

    Being a cast piston the takegawa should expand less with heat than a forged piston. So im not sure that is why they are coming apart. I've just ordered a takegawa piston for my monkey with at Koso head so will be intresting to see how it goes.

    • @speedyme200
      @speedyme200 Před rokem

      Cast Pistons are weaker than forged.. with cast pistons do not like high heat combined with high compression and detonation will eventually start to warp and fail..

    The money sounds like it screams! Koso hit vtec bro. The monkey needs a hi comp piston and race gas brother. Sounds great with that pipe.

    Whats the pistion diameter? Can I just chop up a b16 head? XD

      Same bore can be had pretty easy but the real issues are oil pressure (roller bearing motors have next to none without lot of reworking) and the head studs would be the other big thing. Iv seriously considered doing this for my turbo bike.
