I had a thermoplastic PEEK cage implanted at C7 and developed a severe anaphylactic reaction/immune response that went on for nearly 3 years before finding a surgeon that would remove it.
Not only did this cause significant issues with my lymphatic system, immune system, endocrine system, eventually affecting abdominal organs and ended up with an external allergic reactions/immune response to plastics.
Even clothing is a problem given the enormous amount of polyester and other types of materials containing plastics.

Okay, so what is her solution?....

She said buy the full lettuce head instead of paying a premium for the small packaged, chopped veggies.
Think about what you're buying (packaging, quantity, sustainably sourced).
Be more mindful of what your'e throwing away & where you're throwing it.
You'll be surprised at what alternatives there are.
Google more (common sense) solutions at reducing your carbon & pollution footprint.
