Are your stock horns kind of lame? We have an easy fix! In today's video we show how to install Hella Supertone horns on a VW MK7 GTI and Alltrack. The DIY is made simple with our ECS Tuning horn bracket and wiring harness. The install can be done with basic hand tools and a pair of strippers/crimpers. These ridiculously loud horns will ensure everyone hears you honking!

I would have ordered this kit but cutting the connector off killed this idea.
If I’m going to cut wires and stuff, I’d rather get train horns and call it a day.
I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but using a relay, there are definitely ways to avoid cutting any wires.

@@RickJohnson you could also simply use taps and add two of your own wires to build that plug. Much better choice than cutting the wire, and completely reversible. Also, one could find the same connection that the horn has, and alter the provided plug instead, requiring no change to the factory horn wire.
Meh, still sounds too “tinny”, the horn needs more bass, for a meatier sound, the closer the sound gets to a train horn the better

Well, we tried that. We couldn't get anyone to supply us an OEM connector, so we had to go this route.

@ ECS Tuning: As I'm from Germany I have a link for the OEM male connector. For sure they can ship it to the states or maybe you got the equivalent in the states. Tell me If I should you the link.
@@ecstuning Volkswagen sells them. I work in collision repair an have had to replace more than one that was crushed in an accident.
Never used my horn once on my mk7 nor do i know what my horn sounds like. So naturally i want this beast
I think i would be worried about replacing that plastic oil pan before i worry about some horns
That's up to you, and whether or not you want to foot the bill for how much damage a hit to a metal pan could cause. There are two sides to the oil pan argument and honestly even if there is a slight possibility that a metal pan could fuck my engine up I am not interested.

That first horn sounds fine .
I don't know about better... build quality maybe. Best sounding horns are / were the dual tone horns of the 80's VW & BMW used. Can't beat the tone & loudness of those... IMHO.
Bosch used to make attention grabbing horns as fitted to Daimler-Benz and Porsche cars of the 60's....

Are there any horn options that plug into the factory loom?? Seems like an oversight by manufacturers making it this much work to swap a horn

If you're connecting to the fuse box for the power, isn't there also a ground right there a couple wires over? Why not just connect your ground there if that's actually a ground point.

Question: what gauge or type of terminals are those? I tried to do this process without the correct crimpers and it seems to have gone badly. I don’t mess with electrical stuff much but I’ve been searching for these terminals for a few days in hopes that I’d get a speedy reply from ecs.

The point of hella horns isn't really that they are loud it's that they look nice...

Nobody is going to see these mounted there. The point is having a horn that will actually get someone's attention.
@@seanmcd72 If being heard were the case. There a lot of horn options out there for less than 150$. To each their own. honestly how often do you use your horn? The stock one works well enough. I think you missed the point.
@@Hath.0 I use mine a lot. Stock horn isn't bad, but I'd rather be heard. The bracket is the best part about this kit. They failed with the wiring harness, It's definitely half assed. Where is Ron Swanson when you need him?!
