The Prophet (pbuh) said: "No one of you will enter Paradise by his deeds alone." They asked, "Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His Grace and Mercy" (Bukhari, Riqaq, 18; Muslim, Munafiq, 71-73).

My Response to this.. Yes, But doesn’t necessarily mean you will go to hell either.
Many just come back to live another life, i know in Islam it doesn’t touch base with Reincarnation. But there is too many stories that are hard to pass up, and stories of Near Death experiences where people are sent back to their bodies and are told it is Not your time yet.

Yes, this is a fantastic point and on top of that we all know that all of our good deeds together are not enough to gain entry into Jannah, even if we were to worship a thousand years with complete perfection, that would still not be enough to be granted Jannah but we will enter Jannah through the Mercy and Grace and Forgiveness of Allah. Looking at it this way, Allah is far more Merciful and Forgiving than we deserve but it befits His Majesty and Glory to forgive who He wishes and grant His Jannah to whoever He wishes.

    • @generalpencil3747
      @generalpencil3747 Před 2 lety +6

This is an amazing point. The way I see it Allah already gave the warnings as to what will cause someone to be in hell eternally so it's up to us to heed that warning and make the choice. Logically it's like if there's a warning sign that said beware cliff falls and someone ignore the warnings and jump of the cliff surely you will stay dead forever even though you jump off the cliff once, you're not gonna die for one second, one minute or whatever. That warning that Allah gave is a mercy to all, if Allah have no mercy Allah will just ignore and let us do whatever we want and tell us to find out for ourselves what it's that will make us go to paradise or hell.

Nice conversation! We as Muslims believe that the almighty creator has infinite knowledge and wisdom. Therefor only he knows best if you're someone who would be willing to bow to him and worship him the way he told you or not whether you live 20 years or infinite years. And most people who refuse to worship god even if they could live infinitely they would never change and worship god. So, based on that the appropriate punishment for them is eternity in hell fire.

Well. Why does the consept of infinite punishment bother you, if you indeed dont belive in Allah ?
Remember the hadith, of the prophet pbbuh and his wife Aisha ra. She asked the prophet about the man who was known as humble, good and feeded the poore and took care of orphants. Would Allah forgive him. The prophet said, that He Will be in hellfire. Because He never Said “rabbil fiqhr’lii rabbil fiqhr’lii” Lord forgive me Lord forgive me.

Fact is, only worst people according to Allah's judgement will reside in hellfire forever. Why Allah say's because he wants the humans not to cross the limits. Otherwise, people like Pharoh will say, I will burn for 10 years or 1 trillion years, then I will get the paradise in the end. They will have hope. But, if he resides in hell forever, there is no hope for him.
Sometimes Allah use fear as well so the oppressors don't cross the limit. When they do, they will reside in hell forever. It's not that Allah doesn't mention it. Allah mentions it in the Quran. No one can claim(if they read Quran or know about it's verses) they didn't get any message from Allah. Best humans according to Allah will reside in Paradise forever, some bad people will have punishments for a certain time, then they will go to paradise and some others will reside in hell forever. Maybe because, the finite transgression is only finite due to the intersection of God and not because the transgressors had decided to stop out of there own will. Had it been they were completely free the transgressors would transgress endlessly and this is why the punishment is also endless. However this is just my own think Allah (SWT) knows best.

Isn’t the simple answer to this mans very valid question, that there is infinite punishment for a finite action because it’s meant to:
    A) show the magnitude of the action that’s been done (i.e. shirk - associating partners with Allah), and
    B) deter a person from carrying out the action.
This is done out of pure love for us so we stay on the right path without thinking twice. A bit like the capital punishment.

Just a correction Ibn Taymiyya did not have two opinions about eternal hell , he believed it’s eternal and he clearly mentioned that in his books like “Bayan talbees al jahamiyya”.
But Ibn el Qayyim is the one who had two opinions about this and his last opinion was that the hell is eternal .

Here's the formula for the punishment, as per my understanding of the discussion.
(the time span of the transgression) x (the attributional value of the object) x (the gravity of the transgression) = (the degree of punishment) x (the time duration of the punishment) x (the attributional value of the subject)
Obviously, the equation is dimensionally balanced.
If '(the attributional value of the object)' is infinite, then '(the time duration of the punishment)' should be infinite, as the other two factors on the right-hand side of the equation are finite in nature.

Osama that was extremely clear thank you brother, but i wonder would the ( time span of transgression matter?) because we know that rather than time span, even if u do shirk for one second before dying u end up in hell fire, and likewise if u beleive in Allah for one second, u dont have eternal punishment. What are your thoughts on this

      True,
What I feel is, in a case which deals with believing in Allah, only the last deed of the person in this domain will be considered.
A person who does shirk his entire lifetime and accepts the truth just before he dies, will be saved mostly because, accepting the truth alos entails asking for forgiveness

This is how a good discussion is, sadly most people on the speakers corner are neither as intelligent as Mohammed or the Guest. This is both a respectful conversation but what makes it good is the level of intelligence and challenge of the more relevant questions rather then questions like why God doesnt like alcohol.
Also, you can see the respect between Ali and Mohammed. Ali knows this area is Mohammeds to cover and lets him take it as when Mohammed steps back in other discussion where a more confronting style as Alis are needed

We Muslim always forget the one most important things that the commandment of "do not speak about something which you have know knowledge of". This is not a intellectual debate rather a debate to change someone's point view, whom just disagree with every agreement even the argument makes sense just so that he can keep this point of view intect.
This is a really small discussion to explain very quickly. Allah is Marcyfull Allah is also Just, Allah is the true creator & only He has every right to do whatever he wants with his Creation. If Allah decides that disbeliever are going to ethernal hellfire it's He has every right to do so.He is the one and only who set the rules and we are simply here to obey.
