The Christian guy fails to understand that marriages at the age that Aisha married Prophet Muhammad pbuh was very common at that time, and even in Europe, just look at history. Furthermore, Aisha was ALREADY engaged to another man before the prophet Muhammad asked her for marriage (asked his friend Abu Bakr) so that proves that is was normal at the time. Furthermore, Muhammad did not ask her in marriage for his own, but it was through revelation. Aisha came to become one of the prominent muslim woman in Islamic history and she was referred to as the mother of all muslims. She learned the Quran in several months (!) and teached many muslims the Quran . She is also the second biggest source of Hadiths about the Prophet. Also, Muhammad married his first wife Khadija who was divorced before Aisha and Khadija was older than him, I believe over 40 years old, which was also very unusual at the time because most men would prefer a young woman. However , this is never mentioned by non-muslims.

In modern times, child marriage is downright illegal. There are accounts where some have said she was between 9-19 at the age of her marriage. I agree with you that child marriage is not okay but we are looking through the lenses of the 21st Century. The biblical text quoted states ‘the young girls that have never known a man, take them for yourselves’ - why else would it describe the young girls as never knowing a man (ie virgins) if it is not implying sex??!

@@si-vz8ny You'd be dead wrong if you think marriages occured between the same ages. Mainly because women didn't live on average more than 25 years during the middle ages 😐. And men around 35-40. That leaves a 15 years gap of marriage, in which they'd obviously marry younger women. Let alone nobility, or even the wealthy would have tremendous age differences to ensure the woman not dying of child birth and/or the man being able to have many children before he died eventually from a war between 2 baronies or dukedom.

100 years ago in Europe and America the mean age of frst marriage for girls was in the mid twenties. census bureau in the USA has the stats from 1890 oonwards and the Uk gov has the stats from 1836 (before 1836 existes but only counts anglican church weddings, so may be distorted..)
