Let me give you a warning, there has been a bad powder issue in a couple of companies. I’m sure you’re aware of it. I had a bullet get stuck in the barrel on my Glock 21 with LAX ammo. It was determined it was indeed a bad batch of ammo and the powder didn’t burn properly with multiple rounds. I got a full refund.

The xtended slide on grips with g20 magazines, works great for the G29.
Also. I notice you re-grip on every shot. Might I suggest. Slide left middle finger between index shooting finger and middle finger. Extend the left index over the front of the trigger guard. You should have better control. Everyones hands are different. But its worth a try.

Hey Gents Own both. Shot the Glock obviously more. First time out w the XDM. Here is what I discovered. 5 shots at 10 yards using the following) 1. Underwood 135 gr 2. Fiocchi 180 gr Range 3. Freedom 180gr 4. Blazer 200gr Brass 5. Sig Sauer 180gr (regular range). Dead on accurate of course was the Underwood w the lower flip. Fiocchi was impressive. Hard hitting and accurate. Blazer and Sig were neck and neck for accuracy but you could tell Sig was harder hitting. It kills me to say this because they are from my hometown And they have great customer service.Freedom is terrible.(5.56 and .223 are just fine).Just all over the place. Now to the Firearm. Was not sure the XDM was a wise purchase because I already had a compact 10. Even had the BR’s (buyers remorse). Dry fired both in the house when I got the XDM home and was really pissed I purchased it. Didn’t feel right. Wasn’t sure about the sights.etc. I was wrong. That’s what a range is for. BOTH GUNS FIRST SHOTS were accurate. Follow up shots..not even close.. In a gun fight? XDM hands down. Superior trigger, sights and grips can make a world of difference. ( I bought mine w/o the Red Dot). This gun is just a damn nice package considering the whole package. Guy’s, I set the Glock down and just kept on firing the XDM until I realized I was going broke. The BR’s are totally gone regarding the XDM. Not so on the G29. Hope this helps My Brothers

I own several Glock models including a Glock 40 MOS. But I chose the XDM Elite for a Compact 10mm. It’s a better deal out the box. Ergonomics, fully supported chamber, 11+1, good trigger, no mods needed. The XDM Elite is my 1st Springfield. It’ll probably be the only one I get for the sake of having a good compact 10mm.

Bought one two months ago and absolutely love it!!! Such a great, quality built gun. Extremely pleasant to shoot for a 10mm and extremely happy with the accuracy. As with the grip safety, I honestly do not even notice it while shooting the gun. I actually like the purpose of it cause I usually always have my guns loaded. So just a small but effective safety feature. So when firing, I’ve never had it cause an issue, get in the way, felt it, etc. I just don’t even notice it while shooting. So if a person was to NOT purchase this gun or one like it because of any concerns of the grip safety, they would be massively selling the gun short and would be making a big mistake in my opinion. In fact, I love this gun so much I am going to purchase another just to have a second one.

Thank you for your comparison video, Sir!
Mine just shipped to my FFL yesterday, but I will have to wait until early next year to shoot it when I return from overseas.
In the latter part of 2016 I did extensive research trying to decide on a hiking gun. I chose the 10mm, especially after reading the Swedish National Park Police were upgrading to 10mm to protect them from polar bear. I figure it would be more than adequate protection in the lower 48 against anything.
My first 10mm was the double stack RIA 1911 the wider grip feels great in my large hands and I felt safer hiking in SW New Mexico. Fiber optic is great for day, but wanted a sight picture at night. I found 10mm out of it to be similar to +P .45 ammo recoil; very manageable. Ironically, I found the only ammo it doesn't like is the Sig V-Crown. I think the angle of the bullet is the issue for the RIA.
The following year, many major handgun manufacturers started introducing 10mm handguns. It seemed my exhaustive research and decision to go 10mm were validated.
When the full-sized XDM OSP was released in 10mm and realizing my 'aging' eyes find it increasingly difficult to line up iron sights, I eventually opted for the XDM OSP in FDE. I put a Holosun HE507E-GR-V2 with the green multiple reticle. I found my eyes pick up green better than red. An optic on a pistol does take some getting used to, as the point of aim is higher than traditional iron sights; but as with any new technique/equipment it just took some deliberate practice. I like the option of using the 35 MOA circle, 2.5 MOA dot, or both!
I decided to make 10mm my primary handgun caliber after many years carrying .40 S&W in SA XDm, XD compact, and a S&W M&P .40 with the VTAC sights. I sold my two SA .40s and bought a CMMG Banshee 300 pistol caliber carbine in 10mm and put a Meprolight MEPRO RDS PRO V2 Green Bullseye on it. It is essentially the same reticle as the Holosun, so regardless of which weapon I fire, it is the same reticle. What a great PCC that makes a great truck gun!
Since the CMMG uses Glock-compatible mags, I reluctantly considered the Glock 29 in order to have a compact 10mm for concealed carry in summer and to complete my 10mm defensive trifecta. I have only fired Glocks in 9mm and .45 a handful of times and never fell in love with them. So given my 13 years owning, carrying, and shooting SA handguns, it was a no-brainer for me, to consider the new XDm Elite OSP. I ordered it with the stock optic, but may eventually change to one with a green reticle.
Your video gave me peace of mind that I made the right decision, especially with the slightly longer grip that you pointed out. I was concerned when you shot the Freedom ammo, but you and both guns were redeemed when you switched to the Sig ammo.
I apologize for the long comment, but wanted to thank you as someone who has done a lot of research on 10mm ammo and platforms, and is all in with 10mm.
Now if it would just be produced so we can buy more than 3 boxes at a time!
    I

I bought a G29 Gen 4 a few years ago as my sidearm while hiking. hunting, and camping in Idaho. It has served me faithfully over the years and it is now far from stock. When I saw the XDM Elite Compact in 10mm, I was intrigued. I agree with Justin that it is superior to the G29 out of the box. However, most of us "gun folks" are rarely content with leaving well enough alone.
My G29 now has a Pearce grip extender, which gives me a perfect grip purchase for my large hands. I also upgraded to Dawson Precision FO sites, a Glock OEM (-) connector, and a KKM 4.5" barrel. My G29 will do an inch 5-shot group at 25 yards, is controllable, has never hiccuped, and is eminently configurable and customizable from an endless number of aftermarket vendors.
BTW, I also tried the Freedom Munitions 10mm ammo in my G29 and had similar disappointing results. Luckily, I reload, and the brass will be used to create accurate ammo.

Totally agree. In past 14 years I’ve been carrying it, I jacked up my 29 a lot. It’s deadly accurate - makes ragged holes at 10-15 yds (KKM bbl !) My only complaint is the blocky grip, which is much better with extended mags but not comfortable like an XDM. I like how the Glock is like a revolver, you pick it up and shoot it - no backstrap safety. I carry w/Underwood 180s. I’m gonna try the XDM compact 10mm - see if it fits. Glock needs a better grip like my Hellcat.

My glock was nothing but a letdown because I had an XD 1st. The only reason I keep my glock around is because it matches up with my sub2k. I dont like glock's takedown lever, grip, mag ejector, feels cheap, jammed on round 27, no chamber or coking indicator, back sight blows, boring/ugly, trigger wasnt the best, theres a reason the glock fan boys replace every single peace of the gun and its not just to look better. They are also way over priced, theres cheaper guns that are better and for a few bones more you could get an H&K or a CZ, maybe even a sig, by the time you replace everything you could almost get one of each.

The Springfield Armory XDM Elite is not bad at all, but if I were to choose a 10mm pistol in a subcompact format (which I wouldn't because of recoil) it migjt be a Glock, based on reliability, durability, availability, and the option for aftermarket customization.
However, to bring the Glock 29 (under review in this video) into the 21st century, I would do the following: 1) replace the trigger with an Apex trigger; 2) have the slide cut for an optic; 3) have forward serrations cut into the slide for press checks; 4) replace the sights with supressor-height night sights so the they can be cowitnessed with the optic; 5) replace the polymer guide rod with a steel one; 6) hand polish most of the Glock's internal steel components for smoother operation; 7) have the trigger guard under cut to make more room for the hand and to reduce the "Glock knuckle"; 8) install the C&H SpeedFeed for cleaner mag changes; 9) attach Talon grips to the pistol to improve grip texture, or have the grip stipled.
After all of these modifications, we would still be left with that 22-degree grip angle, which some people don't like.
Note that Langdon Tactical can make many of these modifications at a reasonable price. (I not affiliated with Langdon.)
So the bottom line is this: would you make these changes and would they be worth the cost? I think most people wouldn't.

The issue at the end of all of this is you still have a poor ergonomic design that caters to right-handed shooters and have close to 1500 bucks in a gun that the only thing that is Glock is the barrel and the serial number in the frame which places the expense of ownership double the cost of a stock XDME 10c. Um why? You would have to be a diehard Glock fanboy to warrant such a venture because 800 bucks goes a long way in rounds down range versus waiting for mods to be completed to create virtually the same package minus the grip angle. If the name on the slide is that important, then someone has got serious priority issues. Just my opinion and this is not ment to offend because people can like what they wish but from a logical and financial vantage point it does not compute with me personally.

So basically buy a full price Glock and then pay the price of a second Glock to turn it into the Springfield? Okay, I'll take the Springfield and $500 in ammunition, spare mags, and a fancy holster please. This is why any Glock I will ever own I will build myself. I can get match grade slides and barrels for under MSRP of the stock variety, print or do an 80 percent for the frame, and put a Wheaton Arms trigger package in it. What could be a $1000 gun can be made for $400 if you go one extra mile to skip buy a complete gun to build from and just get a frame by itself.

I like the idea of the Springfield but I’ve heard their customer service isn’t the best (just watch Honest Outlaw’s Springfield reviews). I know not everyone likes Glocks or can even shoot them well. The design is older and is being surpassed by many other companies, but it’s still hard to to deny their track record. To defend myself and others, especially in Connecticut where I am limited to idiotic 10 rounds, I figured those 10 might as well be 10mm. Now Glock will probably do their gen5 MOS for the 29.

I picked up the XDmE for a hunting trip I had planned in brown bear country. The pistol has been a pleasure to shoot and it carries well. The hunting trip did not happen, but I have grown to love the XDmE.👊
Today, I have now acquired a CMMG MK10 Banshee, and I am looking at either the G29 or G20 for the magazine compatibility with the Banshee.
I have never owned a Glock, I spent way to many years shooting 1911's. But I think I am going to actually force myself to learn to shoot a Glock with it's foreign grip angle.🤷‍♂ Having a 10mm subgun and pistol that share magazine compatibility just makes sense...🤷‍♂
Currently, the G20 is winnning because of the afterrmarket support.👊

What I like about the XD-M's is that you can shoot hardened rounds through it right out of the box.

      @billmanning1089 Před 2 lety

@@Shamel3ss5 Glock Corp. recommends jacketed ammunition only. So you can shoot hardened/hard cast ammunition as long as it is properly coated, and sized. Evidently there are "leading" issues with some types/brands of hard cast ammunition due to improper size. Some forums say commercial hardcast bullets are sized at 0.401 while glock barrels measure at 0.4015 and 0.4020 (3.78" barrel length, and the 4.61" barrel lengths tested). This very slight size difference means the hardcast ammo is a bit small and can actually "wiggle" some in the barrel when fired, which leads to fouling and bullet tumble shortly after leaving the barrel (Hitchcock45 found that hardcast began to tumble within 10 feet of exiting the barrel in some hardcast ammo).
Either way, many on the forums advise getting a aftermarket barrel.

GET THE SPRINGFIELD... Glock needs to get with the program and make some advancements and improvements. Glock would be smart to take Lee Iacoca's advice "You either leed, follow or get out of the way!" Glock better start trying to leed because they are getting pasted up by many other manufacturers. Can put 4 into a 5 inch circle in just slightly over 1 second from pull to last shot @ 15 yards using 220 grain Underwood hard cast HOT bear loads just sence shooting. No time to use a sight in a bear attack anyway. The ergonomics sold me. The trigger was just a great bonus. Liked the " feel" in the store & went for it. The 10s are replacing the backup big bore revolvers up here. Lighter, smaller, easier to pull/carry/shoot. W 41 magnum performance & being able to put a hail of slugs into a charging bears head they just make more sense. I carry mine in a sideleg soft holster. Hardly know it's there. Out of the way of a slung 45/70 lever rifle and/or backpack & ALWAYS on you in case your regular bear rifle is out of reach. I KNOW I can blow a charging bears brain out of his butt BEFORE he hits me. And I'm NOT a great pistol shot. Only had 1 problem. The square edge on the back of the front sight tried to snag in the pull. Lil Dremel grinding fixed that noise in a few minutes. Seems the mfgrs would have figured out by now that smooth ROUND ALWAYS BEATS snag SQUARE.

Comparisons of 10mm’s with barrels shorter than 4.5" barrels is a waste of time in my book. Is a 10mm 3.8" barrel better than a 9mm 3.8" barrel? Yes. That said, the net loses of a 3.8" barrel compared to a 4.5" barrel are noteworthy and need to be expressed. Then if you get a 5", 6" or 7" barrel the out come is extremely note worthy. I like the Glock 20, but I don’t care if it’s a Springfield XD-M or a Rock Island Arms 1911 Or Colt Delta Elite clone a longer barrel means more velocity, and more velocity means better performance, and better performance can mean the difference between life and death when dealing with a thousand pound grizzly bear. And before someone says it, YES, ammo choice is a huge consideration. The thing is if you want the peak 10mm performance you’re going to need to need to get the length. I sold my Glock 29 and kept my Glock 20 because the difference was that noticeable.

      @96stealth Před 2 lety +2

Really, my Glocks are probably the most unreliable guns that I own. I have 4 Springfields and have never had jams. There’s also a fun test to do. Chamber a round and drop the mag out. Then shoot the gun to see if it properly ejects the case or if it fall through the mag well. I think only one of my 4 Glocks does it properly and it has an aftermarket extractor. All of my Springfields properly eject the casing.
Glocks are also more likely to get limp wrist malfunctions. Glock being so much more reliable than everything else is a myth. Most malfunctions are actually from user error or bad ammo. If those 2 are canceled out, then it’s usually a bad magazine spring.
There’s a video on CZcams of a 10mm Glock that couldn’t even get through a magazine without 1-2 malfunctions and they ruled out it being a magazine issue.

Red dots take some time to get used to. Being able to have the confidence in the red dot actually being on target and breaking the shot quickly makes a difference. Taking too much time to “fine tune” when aiming causes muscle fatigue, and that leads to the dot bouncing everywhere.
I just recently traded my 29 for a 20 and i shoot it much better.

Not an XDM fan. The safety strip on back has been a deal breaker for me. While I am an H&K and Sig guy, I have liked Glock. The Glock 10mm frames 20, 29, and 40 were designed specifically for the 10mm cartridge. G29 is a great carry with a McNally trigger and 12+1 with a Pearce Magazine Extension.

The only thing important to me it reliability and conceal ability . I will keep my g29 that I carried for about 3 yrs but I’m definitely probably gonna buy one of these bad boys 😁
