Me and my dad have the thumb sleeve glued on to the slug it and it works for me.
In the past 7 years of repairing sticky/misaligned VISE IT installations due to core swelling, I have found that drilling the pitched hole oversized and "sleeving" it with epoxy ball plug results in much better alignment, smoother operation of the slug-IT, and the collar drops in without having to do any sanding or fitting. In short, the repairs are often functionally superior to the original installation.
Could sinking a regular slug work as well? I'm having problems with my ITs and looking for a solution without switching systems altogether. That gets spendy on 20 balls.
@@travishanson166 Normal slug is too short to function as a sleeve and interface for the BALL-IT. It is however a common practice to drill out a broken BALL-IT 1 1/8" x 4" deep and glue a slug into the bottom of the hole to function as an interface for the replacement BALL-IT. But this is still more expensive and time consuming (15-20 minutes) than replacing the broken IT with a JOPO outer (2-3 minutes).
@@byronfranek2706 I get a pretty steep discount on slugs. But I will see how much it would cost my pso to get jopo or turbo sleeves. We were supposed to get a sample kit from CDB but it never showed up.

Do you think because the vise it stuff does put pressure on the inside of ball cause the ball to crack before say one that doesnt expand or put pressure on the inside of ball? Amd how do you take the inside out if say one would want to plug it? Is that possible

Would you recommend the .05 bigger drill bit to allow for the clearance
Those oversized bits are for slugs, not for interchangeables. I do recommend them, if you watch out ‘how to cut an oval’ video, I mention that.
I have been experimenting seems i have a problem and like to do everything myself... 😂Well, i messed up and got my vise thumb interchangeable stuck somehow i didnt drill all the way thru yet i was excited i got it and have been practicing drilling on broken balls. I wasnt thubking and before i had it fully drilled i put the It in my ball 🫣😑 just checking everything out.. i believe its suctioned in there because it will spin all the round around for a couple turns. Could i put a tiny hole diagonal thru to help for releasing air? Mistakes are ok thats how some kf us learn. 😂
I don’t think it’s succion. Did you do the proper steps with the ‘ball-it’. Did you knock it down with the push down rod and also install the expander?

It is something I realized after the fact. Some of these videos, including this one, were shot during our Hands-On Training classes, and I had students behind the camera. I wanted their acknowledgement, since there are a lot of steps to some of these processes. I have been mindful of these in all the future videos and appreciate the critique. I believe there is a sleeve you can use to convert switch grip to IT. Would love to see a video on that and also on how to install a molded thumb into the IT System
