I was a little disappointed when you didn't show much interest in getting this thing going, but I'm glad you listened to us and decided to give it a go. Now you got yourself a usable rig and I hope you'll keep it around for a little while.
I can understand if it did need a bunch of stuff nothing for those are bolt of it is a costly platform, but since it was parked working it should be ok. Long way to say i agree.
I'd say that'd have been a lot for me to do.

That carb looks funny because it has a governor on it that works off vacuum that’s why the carburetor flaps weren’t opening the vacuum also goes down and hooks to the distributor. The distributor controls the governor on the carburetor, when the motor over revs it shuts the vacuum off to the governor and shuts the flaps. I know this because I have an F 600 also and I had to learn at the hard way. I have a video on my channel “Fixing Things with PastorBill”.
Nothing better than a movie length Puddin episode. Man that truck is running smooth, with all the stuff in your shop and yard that you have to move I think that truck will be a godsend.
You did such an awesome job working around all it's little problems, the only thing I think it's missing is you should connect the two fuel tank brackets with a piece of steel for a step, that way it will still function like oem.
The only problem I foresee is when you are done with it and move it on, you'll be addicted to the tailgate lift and need to put one on the yeehawl lol.

Those were tough trucks...motors had gobs of torque...changed a clutch on more than one when I worked at the airport..nice plow trucks

That tank is from a Dodge Grand Caravan with a VMI handicap conversion.. I have one I just picked up cheap. These are used as a main tank because of the ramp taking the place of the original tank location. So yes, they are for fuel injection.. Great episode 👏
Great Will it run episode, one of the best ever. If you cut the side out of the old fuel tank would the new one slide into it that way you would still have the step. Great episode and as always very entertaining.
I was happy to finally see a "will it run" on that old beast and super happy it worked out the way it did. I was thrilled when you said you were going to use it for moving. Perfect use and timing.Don't know what they are worth around there, nut those power tail gates aren't cheap and have lots of uses. Price out a used one just for the fun of it.

Timely revival. I'm sure the fuel tank is a temporary fix, lacking the step, but having it for your move will be a blessing. Glad it wasn't just a mess.

My comment had less to do with him making it all correct, fixing lines, pump mounts, adding the step, all the stuff I know he will do should it be a part of his fleet - or moved onto a new owner. It being a timely repair and a potential blessing to his family prior to this huge move - was the intent of my post, not anything I know full well he is capable of. Sorry I didn't make that clear in my original post.

@@saigyl9149......no, but cutting the step out of the old tank and fabricating a couple of brackets would easily do the job.
@@saigyl9149 The original tank had the step integral to it, midway. There isn't much in the way of real estate outboard this tank. A couple inches if I recall. The original was a tank designed as a step, so the step isn't protuding. His replacement (be it temporary or permanent) is a frame-rail tank, not a step tank.
But regardless of any of this, which wasn't my point, exactly, watching Puddin as a car and truck builder myself, I disregard his notion of not being a sheet metal guy. I see his skill level on display. He's better than most I see. This is the key reason I watch him. He's one of the most self effacing guys I watch.
I have said multiple times before it is his skill-set, love for family, heart on sleeve approach as being the reason he is the only CZcams guy I support with more than a view and a like. As a retired dude I don't have deep pockets, but I'll help a fellar when he deserves it. I'm just happy the one guy I decided to support is being successful.

Was never a doubt in my mind. That engine sounds healthy. My cousin used to buy those trucks wrecked from Ryder and convert them into car haulers, flat beds, and even logging trucks. At one time there was one up every hauler or on the side of every mountain in WV that he built, putting in work every day. Lol.

VMI, Vantage Mobility Intl’s fuel tank is mounted in the rear on a lowered floor Dodge Caravan minivan. (The frame of the van was lowered probably 10” between firewall and rear suspension displacing the tank’s usual placement for wheelchair access).

It will be handy for moving your stuff from shop to shop.
Just a suggestion while you are busy with other projects try pouring some atf, diesel fuel and some marvel mystery oil and pour it down the intake in the valve covers, and in the cylinders and let it sit a few months and then occasionally try to work it loose and see how that goes pudding sir?!

Hey Pudding...good save..that motor sounds really good..the 370 is a good motor..they used that same truck for school buses for a long time down here in Georgia..you maybe should take the original fuel tank to a radiator shop to see if they can save it..that would be better or find another one like it..see you on the next one cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It has air brakes puddin, you put it in neutral and pull the yellow button to apply the parking brakes. It will lock down the rear brakes. When the air pressure builds up you can push in the yellow button to release the parking brake.
As long as the air lines are not cracked

That sensor you had to remove from the rear brakes is for the parking brake light. The nut on the back of those brake cans should be the caging bolts

I must confess I doubted you... what an amazing job. Not just a 'will it run'... you made a good tool, one that you can use immediately! I'd try and get that old fuel tank cleaned up... make yourself a tank-spinner out of a junk rear axle, where you can load it up with nuts and bolts and let it turn for a few hours to knock out the rust... seen it done.

I think that first carburetor had a governor on it. Terrible things, but necessary if the driver doesn’t watch the rpm. A lot of large gasoline trucks from the 80s had them. I hope the ford and the international find a home in your fleet, even though they are not PFS blue.

Also, I would take a really good hot pressure washer to that original tank and clean it out. Then either do the vinegar or evaporust trick to it’s innards and reuse it.

The reservoir is the hydraulic parking system its separate from the main brakes... It is similar in function to an air brake system... The reservoir has to be kept topped off and system leak free or as you have known this whole time the parking brake stays engaged
Lima, pronounced Lymuh, is in Ohio and the best Fords were made there! Lima Ohio Ford engine plant was the best job in the city for decades. They also make the Abrams tanks at General Dynamics! Lima proud!!
