      House Frangelder
The house words are “Greater be the ones who bow to the eagle”
And coat of arms are a crowned Golden eagle on a blue field

Very cool designs but these aren’t ‘middle class’ they’re the lower rung of the the upper class. Middle class means industrialists, professionals, merchants etc.

Americans constantly baffles me in their lack of knowledge of how classes actually works. A noble house is by its definition not middle class. All of these are upper class. The books do have plenty of merchants and other non-noble wealthy characters. AKA proto-middle class.

I mean, Santagar is the rulers of that an area that roughly corresponds to the size of Belgium. That is aristocracy, not middle class.

I thought you were going to talk about the medieval Burghers, like craftsmen, medieval guilds or landed gentry, this are just minor houses or landed knights who do exist in the series

I would argue that the Karstarks, Glovers and Tarlys are in no way middle class. Each of them have thousands of soldiers and servants at their disposal and control vast amounts of land. I would argue the closest thing we have to a middle class house in the show is house Seaworth. And then in the books, characters like Ser Bartimus of the Wolf’s Den, the northern clans like Liddle, Norrey and Flint, Ser Rennifer Longwaters , the cadet branches of Harlaw and also maybe house Spicer before the events of the red wedding.

How can you make this video without researching or using any book content? There are many, many smaller houses that are interesting in the books.

I'm rewatching the series rn, and I looked into the smaller houses via the wikis. I wanted to make some more just for fun tbh! I do plan to read the books i just haven't yet before i got this idea
