VitalExistence I don’t usually close mine. Having a mirror below you as well as in front of you can help. If you look at the mirror below you, your eyes can be 3/4 closed but you can still see. Going very slowly (adding more after looking in the mirror in front of you is way easier than taking some off!) also helps.
It also helped with liquid liner on top. My right eye is “phobic” and twitches wildly if it’s closed and I start to put pressure on the inside corner. The first third of that eyelid always got messed up and I’d just do really thick liner on top. A very thin brush tip to minimize damage when it goes wrong also helps. Try to not open your eyes fully for maybe twenty seconds after the top liner, because if you blink when it’s wet, it’s more likely to feather and be messed up. And with eyes mostly closed you’re less likely to need to blink!
I’m still working on making under eye concealer the right balance so it’s not weirdly smooth but it’s also not minimal. And my brows are tough. It’s an ever evolving practice. 😂
I hope maybe one of the ideas help, but regardless, just keep it up and be your beautiful self. Makeup is just a bonus if it’s shining on top of inner beauty, so as long as you’ve got that, you’re golden regardless! Best of luck to you, girl! 🌸

Even with hooded eyes she said apply the eyeshadow where you can see it when your eyes are open. Even if it's not in the traditional crease you can still do it higher so that it shows up. There are so many tutorials on eyeshadow with hooded eyes.

Caitlin H Hi Caitlin, I have Asian hooded eyes from my Grandmother, I have my own technique where I use darker eyeshadow on the outside half of my eyelid right up to the highlighted color used below eyebrows. That takes the hooded outer area ‘back’ keep the inner half of your eye lighted color. Def need eyeliner on the very edge of eyelashes too.

omg thank you. every "beginner" video i watch is basically like: ok, you will need tape, 45 different brushes, 500 different eyeshadows, bomb af lighting, a 50 dollar or so primer, then you will also need to sell your soul to get the "perfect" beginner eyeshadow look.

With hooded eyes it's a bit different, you have to fake a new crease, above where your actual crease is (otherwise the eyeshadows will disappear because your crease is much lower). So more in the socket of the eye. Stephanie Lange has some good demonstrations for this on her channel.

can I just say that I ❤️ u..... I tried everything like cheap primers to expensive ones, nothing helped that my eyes wouldn't crease. I tired your method and my eyeshadow stayed like 10 hours on place. It was a rainy stormy day and I work 8-9 hours a day so I don't have the time to do touch ups, and I'm lazy so don't want to do that. But it stayed in his place..... This tutorial was so helpful, thank you so much! On the first eye I attempted to do this on, it turned out sort of black but on the other eye it was amazing and not black at all as I noticed all I needed to do was clean my brush in between each colour.
