How do you make your videos better, more exciting, when shooting yourself? What equipment do you need vs what can be improved? The best ways to edit your self-recorded videos?
I'm not a videographer, so take this with a grain of salt. Maybe different angles? With a stand for your phone you could record yourself a couple of times from different perspectives. Also, some newer phone gimbals can track you on their own, maybe it could be interesting if you move a lot during your choreography.
I have been shooting dance for over 20 years; however, I shoot in theatres so your shooting outside the theatre was interesting to me. Normally I shoot during a show with multiple cameras, but I have to shoot a promo for a musical performance. I will be shooting in an empty theatre so I may use my powered slider for my wide shot. Your comments about camera movement inspired me.
that's so cool! documenting live performances onstage well is such a difficult skill, honestly I dread doing it sometimes thinking about having to constantly adjust to lighting changes. I hope your shoot went well!
@@DanceTechwithJHsuThank you for the video ❤ i have a question. How people make instant dance videos in a public place? Like how do they record and play music at the same time? And do they play the music in speaker or they have earphone while dancing in a public place ?? Thank you 😊😊
With something like a moving shot unfortunately it works best with someone moving the camera, but I've seen people who will put a camera on something like a skateboard and roll the camera toward themselves. Or at the very least we all have friends we can grab who may not be video experts but if you tell them to gently push the skateboard forward they can do that!
ooh this is a good topic! Getting good class footage is definitely tricky. I would say a couple things: 1. good lighting at the front of the room 2. background that is lit/separated from the dancers 3. close to the dancers so it feels more immersive 4. editing can play a big part in it as well
Hello, can you please share, what kind of camera settings will give me the best and highest quality footage? Most videos on youtube talk about the best camera settings for 'talking head' videos. But I am going to assume that the settings need to be quite different if I am shooting a dance video, right? The main thing I am struggling with while shooting my dance videos is that the subject (aka me) keeps going in and out of focus. What is the solution here?
that's a great question! And definitely a challenge a lot of dancers face. I think then you have to be really intentional with your framing and find compositions that are static but are still interesting, and cut to different perspectives often. So for example going from a wide to a close up and then a medium so that way it doesn't stay on one frame too long
