There's so much more about AI I didn't get to cover in this video. Something I wanted to add in the comments / footnotes of this video is the possibility that these M3 MacBooks will become even more valuable half way through the year when Apple finally releases their AI-related software / Siri GPT via a software update (i.e. iOS 18, new Mac OS, etc.)
Apple has done an incredible job integrating technology for (their) products over the years, which has yielded huge efficiency and performance gains (basically what we've been seeing with M series Macs over the years). What if everything inside this M3 / M3 Pro / M3 Max chip are the ingredients for a new seamless integration for their generative AI and other software features coming this year? And that integration works far above and beyond what we expect?

This “speech to text” feature - is this already available on a Macbook Pro M1Max already ? Or will it only become available locally once they release the SiriGPT ??
8gb is more than enough for musicians. I can unplug this thing and make music for 7 hours straight with a USB condenser plugged in and over 100 midi tracks on logic. absolutely zero reason to buy 16gb if you're a musician. lol. really tired of people upselling the gb in these things. I have yet to hit a wall on gb other than gaming, which im just buying a PC for.

The only smart move is to buy the basic configurations no matter what product you’re buying. Be smart and don’t let yourself fall into marketing. If it’s a car, a phone, etc, same thing. Be wise and don’t play companies game.

Currently waiting for my M2 Air to arrive, so excited! I went back and forth for so long between what exact machine to buy, but in reality I haven't even had a laptop since 2019 (when I bought an imac) so anything is going to be an upgrade. I miss having a laptop so much. Great video!

I have bought a M2 MBA and I am really satisfied for me no need to update until M4 to M5 chips for sure. Compare to my HP Laptop this MBA is a game changer especially when I comes to images. Except my phone (but it is just a question of months) I have all my art work on Apple ecosystem. (MBA, iPad and Mac) and I don't regret it. But yeah m the Air is my favourite tool light and powerful.

Question: I have M2 MacBook Air 15 inch base model as a secondary laptop. I have windows laptop from my work. All I do with my Mac is basic web browsing, Netflix, music , applee tv etc... I only use apple apps aa well. Was it a mistake to buy the 8gb ram if I plan to use it in the next 5 years ? I really enjoy it so far and has no slowdown issues what so ever.
It depends on the task. If you aren’t doing AI or video rendering, you’ll be fine.
The theory is good and the practice is not, the same test you do with CUDA on a 4080 cannot even be measured because it is so fast. So these 5 minutes in CUDA are just seconds, audio transcription in CUDA is instantaneous. So if someone needs speed, NVIDIA is a sanctuary.
I have a MacBook Pro 14 and I love the battery, but the difference is so absurd in AI on Windows that I ended up buying a PC for it.

I'd recomend the 14" macbook pro with base M3 chip for a first Mac, it's a dream machine with the most beautiful display. but whtever you choose slays it bruhh

Which is why I am going with the M3 13” Air
I don’t know , why people keep on complaining over the 8gb ram , I’m too using the base mbp m3 8gb variant , which I use for basic editing, ml and ai tasks. As a normal or mid-power user , it’s really good to go with the 8gb ram , if you have more money, then upgrade ram.

every single time a new m chip computer is released, people complain about the ram. have you ever actually ran into any issues? probably not. nobody does. apple knows this. they wouldn't sell this compute with 8gb if they thought it would upset any one. apple doesn't release products like that, if anything they release products that are too strong and then they later raise the price. not the other way around. people dont even understand how apple's computers even work. intel and amd are more open about how their chips work, nobody understands how apple's chips really work lol. a lot of these videos are silly, and trying to upsell for apple. because apple donates computers to these people. 8gb is enough for virtually anybody buying one of these computers. if 8gb is not enough, you're likely going to buy a pro anyways not an air. and the only reason you need that is if you're literally making million dollar movies or some kind of insane hacker type person. nobody needs that much horsepower. thats why some CZcamsrs make videos of them using the same laptop for 10 years - they're still strong lol.

What chip did you initially get on your MacBook Pro 14?
That would help me understand where you initially started at. But in general, are you doing this professionally? Does time savings and efficiency matter to you? What apps are you using? A general safe recommendation is to go with M3 Pro (16 inch in your case), as you get the added benefit of more GPU cores that can aid a lot depending on the applications you use.
As much as I love the MacBook Air line, and you (can) achieve a lot with the M3, having a computer with a proper thermal system, more CPU & GPU cores, more RAM support, does wonders to what's possible on-the-go, which is why I always lean for the Pro MacBooks for my work.
If you keep the laptop at home then go for 16", the display, the 120hz, the thin bezels it's worth it, but if you take it with you often then the 15" is worth it because it's a bit more compact and less cumbersome and with the money you save you can get an external display with 120hz and oled for home

I still use an m1 air 8gb.. And it still kills everything I do. 8 gb is enough!!! I even us Logic Pro and it's F*ing awesome!! 8 gb is enough. I just want 1 tb storage to save my projects...
Haha! It definitely still can be. Moving into the future though, AI-related tasks make a lot of use of the unified memory, so more is better in this context.

I’m using a base mbp with m3 chip , it’s really awesome and everything is working fine , the main cache is it’s battery backup, which gives me around 20 - 22 hrs

The only macbook air you should buy is the very base model, if you are upgrading it you're d u m beeee 5:00. If you're buying the Air there's absolutely no need for the M3 7:04 just buy M2. if you don't agree with these facts just buy macbook pro
Two external monitor support is a game changer for me as I use my desk more... Base model MBP doesn't have dual monitor supports
Another marketing propaganda... AI my a ss, they widespread Macbook Air with AI now to save it's plummeting share in the stock market. This will only make it worst. Apple has lost its edge in terms of innovation and creativity and relies too much on its brand loyalty and ecosystem.
