She just passed away on an aircrash going for a show in a small town in Brazil. The country is in peace’s and the Latin music will never be the same anymore after her influence on it. Exagera não. Muita gente não se incomodou. Foi triste por ser uma pessoa jovem, mas nem todo mundo gostava das músicas dela, e portanto não fez diferença alguma.

Great reaction, Beth! This style is a modern sertanejo, which has a long tradition, it's like Brazilian country. A great recommendation in this style is Bruno & Marrone. Bruno is a very technical singer with an emotional voice, you can hear this in "Bijuteria".

Lincoln, o verbo "to kill" é para dizer que ela foi morta, no caso de assassinato, o que não foi o caso.
Então vc deve dizer "she just died" = ela acabou de morrer. Também é comum dizer "she just passed away" que é uma forma, vamos dizer, mais suave de dizer que a pessoa morreu.
“Killed” não mesmo, ou ela foi assassinata ou ela sofreu um acidente …

Ja o verbo to kill pode ser usado para dizer que um pessoa foi morta por alguem ou algo (no caso o acidente) Tanto que se voce pesquisar "Marilia Mendonça killed," voce vai encontrar varios sites estrangeiros usando esse verbo para noticiar a morte dela.

What grabs my attention in this, is how the melody of the vocal lines follow the call and response (question and answer) phrasing of blues music. (Eg: 03:35) Jumping between upper and lower notes in what I presume is the E minor scale. A happier kind of blues, maybe. Immensely enjoyable. Thank you Beth
That sound you heared as a kind of closed, tense sound is the nasal vocal in portuguese, from the words: coraçÃo (heart), traiçÃo (betrayal). It must to be made by narrowing the palate and letting the sound go partially to the nasal cavity. It would be similar as the "an" in the word "land", in english. Saying the "ã" with a free-open mouth, like you've sugestted, would be a big mistake of pronunciation, it'd turned a totally different phoneme that changes the meaning of the word.

Eu não sou fã de sertanejo universitário, mas descobri a Marília por causa da composição de "cuida bem dela" e é uma música que eu acho incrível, e descobrir depois o qual incrível é a voz dela (e a técnica principalmente), me fez ter um grande respeito por ela, apesar de não ser fã, ela de fato era uma artistas completa.

Marilia Mendonça was the main voice of brazilian country music and unfortunatelly she died last friday on an airplane crash. Brazil cries for her and the other victims of the accident. She has been a songwriter since she was 12 and started singing professionally in 2014. She accomplished many things in her short career. She was 26 when she died. RIP, Marília!

Please, react to "Quando a Chuva Passar" - Ivete Sangalo. Its a classic song to brazilians. A really beautiful one. I think that Ivete Sangalo is one of the greater brazilians singers of all time and Latin America, in a more broad sense, as well. Thank you so much!

Hey Beth! We just lost marilia at the age of 26 years old, our hearts are broken and lusophone music just lost an incredible artist at such a young age 💔💔 would be so kind of you if you react to some of her other songs and tell the world the how much she means to us fans, and how she changed the “Sertanejo” music for ever. Her influence was amazing, bringing modernity and such a feminism to this music style mainly represented by male singers. In only 5/6 years of career she had so much impact. Normally this music style leads with brake up stories and leads with how men would feel when they get their hearts broken. She sang the female vision of it. She sang for women who were having affairs with married men, and vice-versa. She sang to them defending them and giving their point of view. She was the first singer who dared to do this and the became an inspiration thanks to this. Sertanejo is a type of music which is very criticised and people have a lot of prejudices about it in Brazil, but she actually was admired by every generation and every type of person. She seduced the whole world with her singular voice. And she deserves a shout out in your fantastic channel. I hope u see this comment. Thanks for your work, I love the channel.
