    if Kaveri engine with AB can produce at least 75KN of thrust reliably, then scrap Tejas MK2 and fast track TEDBF and ORCA with twin Kaveri Engines. Granted that the jets might not be a head turner on international stage w.r.t power to weight ratio. But, it will at least give Bharat a chance to improve its domestic industry and reduce its dependency on foreign engines.

      @@user-co5vh9zs4c we should either demand 100% tot for f414, make them in our country. (Kinda looks impossible for 100% tot)
      Or look for Safran/RR.
      Or Kaveri 2.0 with 100kn+ thrust. Drdo already have basics for 73kn engine and hold of important jet technologies. (We can use Russian/alternative engine for time gap/prototype and then replace with our own)
      Squadron strength is important but we can't over depend on USA.

      @user-co5vh9zs4c Před měsícem

      @@ujwalsharmaThe issue in India is we never invest properly in R&D and then expect our scientists to perform miracles. Western countries even with decades of experience and pre-built test facilities spend 20billion to develop new jet engine. China has invested 50billion in their program so far... We have invested 500mil on Kaveri in the last 30 years. Its a miracle that our scientists have managed to develop so much with so little investment.
      Kavery 2.0 will take anywhere between 5-10 years to develop, fully test and certify. That is assuming Babus in finance dept authorize sufficient funding. Safran is our best bet for Tejas MK2 and AMCA initial engine. HAL has a long history of collaborating with them for helicopter engines. France didn't put sanctions on us even 1998 N test so France is generally reliable. Russian engines are low quality. However, Safran is asking for a lot of money for joint development and Indian babus never like investing in R&D.

    It would be a serious mistake to buy the Rafael radar for Tejas, MiG 29 upgrade, or Super Sukhoi upgrade when India has a world class radar in Uttam GaAs and GaN radars. It is OK to buy foreign electronic components from trustworthy countries, but if the radar system IPR and code is owned by a foreign entity, then India will be unable to integrate its own missiles, Russian, US and Israeli missiles into those aircraft without the radar supliers permission. This has already happened with the Tejas Mk 1A fighters using the Israeli Elta radar, which cannot use Meteor missile because Elta is a competitor, and so Dassault will allow Meteor integration until Uttam is fitted in Tejas. The same applies to US and European missile integration into Russian radars, and integration of Russian missiles into Werstern radars. Tejas 1A, Mig 29 and Super Sukhoi upgrades with Uttam radars can use Russian, Indian, US and European missiles, which makes the Tejas mk1A a better weapons platform than the expensive Rafale. This is a massive advantage because rhe biggest problem in war is the rapid attrition of missile stockpiles, and many aircraft types will become limited in capability due to lack of various types of missiles.
    I hope the triple Bs (Baboon Brained Babus) do not wreck this advantage through sheer stupidity.

    DRDO failed to provide a proper jet engine for past 30 years. India doesn't have its own jet engine but just big talk. With organizations like DRDO and HAL, India will always depend on foreign suppliers. Defence officials will continue taking commissions in deals and the game would go on.

    India's planning is very poor. They should have acquired the necessary engines and other imported parts before assembling the planes. HAL is famous for bungling jet manufacturing. It is also very slow and even simple things take years to accomplish. I wonder whether they work 40 hour per week or 4 hours per week. Nothing will surprise me!!

    When americans are showing their true colours for delivery of engines then please anticipate the f414 engines delivery also. Thats why our own kaveri engine is necessity. Look at the western looters. Every single year they are increasing the prices of aircraft 10 folds. Better stick to russian weaponery. Also invest heavily in our own HAL assembly lines new recruitment new land and be less dependent on others because ultimately they are not willing to share the technology and they want to sell their product with heavy exorbitant prices over the shelf. From both sides they are trying to arm twist india. Even for 114 mrfa consider upgraded su30mki thus saving 20 to 25 billion dollars. No need to give billion and billion of dollars to looters. Our cheap dosa idly sambar appam is much better and healthier than foreign expensive sandwiches. Good luck.
