Don't Die, Collect Loot is an arcade roguelite where you guide your hero through a series of infinite retro worlds, attempting to stay alive, collect loot, and grow in power. Grow in power and live the ultimate Action RPG fantasy!

@@bloodredigris Yeah, the demo is big. It’s been tough for me to get attention, so I opted for a really compelling demo in hopes that someone would come across it and spread the word.

This is truly peak funny number go up game, the growth seems almost exponential, you went from doing like 7-12 damage to 22-60+ by just upgrading your weapon, and by the end of that run you were doing 150+

So retro is the type of arpg player who builds around one skill only also he turns the melee class in to ranged lmao.

I played a few hours and I love this.
This reminds me of all the hours I put into Raiden and 1942 as a kid.
NGL, I thought the 3rd PC was Arsonist and I thought "hell yeah!"

75% resist cap, with 90% max resist cap... increases to pack size, magic monster pack size in the skill tree. Ability to increase the encounter rate of certain master NPCs, or even mechanics such as Incursion.... this game draws some HEAVY inspiriation from PoE, and I'm all for it

The unique gloves are a direct PoE reference too. Dang yo is what you say when someone shows you Frosted Fishscale Gauntlets of Skill.

Some of that is Retro just skipping through the dialogue, though. Going back and reading the split-second screens tells you a bit.

Okay. Now this looks really fun. Path of Exile is my highest played game on steam by far so I'm looking forward to the hours I'll be able to sink into this!
Love this game! Picked it up after your video and I've been obsessed since!
I found myself comparing and contrasting this game to Achra with all the various ways you could customize the character. However, the differences helped me better understand the unique characteristics between rougelite and action RPG. They're both great games, and it's interesting to see how developers use similar mechanics differently.

I think I'm confused why you liked the talent tree system so much in this game?
I don't _like it_ I just think it makes more sense in the genre combo they are going for than others. This game is making it no secret that the interesting building happens _outside the run._ You are making a character via equipment and the talent trees outside of the run, and the runs are largely just to see it in action. So it feels fitting here because it is more or less just an arcade action RPG that _happens_ to have some roguelike mechanics.
I am of the opinion that many current roguelites are leaning on strength-based metaprogress far too hard as a crutch right now. This one ironically escapes the trap by barely feeling like a roguelite.
