This was so good and helpful with spring/summer being here! My friends know when we take pics in a sunny spot to ALWAYS look for their shadow! 😄 Thank you KJ Team and dinosaurs for your help!!! 🦖🦕❤️
You’re welcome!
Your models are literally THE CUTEST!
We think so too!
Nice tutorial. Would love to see your images both before & after editing. That would really help people aspiring photographers know what they can really expect.
Thanks for the suggestion! We have some editing videos planned that will show before and after!
I live in the Arctic and the sun stays up(and harsh) all summer long. Especially in the spring when the ground is still covered in white snow I find it sooo hard to avoid squinty eyes. Your videos are very helpful!
Glad they are helpful!
Would love to see a video on editing tips as well as picture settings on your camera such as contrast saturation etc… your kids are adorable!
Check out our playlist with Lightroom Tips and Tricks! And thank you!!!

Hi pretty
How are you doing over there today!! Nice meeting you here!! What a charming eyes and lips!! My name is Anthony and you?
Thanks, Katelyn. I do not use my Canon EOS R6 enough, so I'm not as practised as I should be. This short video on Light, Location and Layout is really helpful to me. Though I admittedly mostly photograph cars, I can put this thinking into practise. Thank you.
Not sure what lens you're using here in this video(?) I still only have my RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM and little 50mm f/1.8 STM (the latter of which I use for shooting cars). Wondering if I should have some more suitable lenses.
thank you
You're welcome!!
this is the cutest thing ever
Thanks!
Hi pretty

Cute kids lol. I'm gonna try my best to master lighting techniques.
Thanks for watching!
😂😂😂 love how they are repeating 😂 just like in the class
Haha I know!!
Thanks so much for the tips! When shooting in natural light, in what order do you typically make setting changes? Shutter speed, aperture, ISO? Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
What an answer.. 😂
Thank you for this awesome shooting advice! What aperture did you use for these two cuties? F/2.0? Thank you for you expert advice!
Thanks for watching!
what camera are you using for your videos? the quality is the best!!!😃
Loved watching this whole episode🤩
They are going to be pro photographers here soon hahaha 💓
I would love that!!
Thanks for the tips. Just want to ask, what canon camera did you on this video use to photograph them?
Lovely kids
thanks!
Great
Thanks for watching!
Your children are the cutest models.
I think so too!
What microphone do you use ? It’s nice and crisp audio 👌🏼
Thanks for watching!
Another tip of you have to sit in direct sun is to turn a person or couple faces to the side so their shoulders are pointing to you. You can turn their faces to the side and chest pointing toward you. I've only done this once or twice so try it out with a few poses. It's more used if their is something in the background they want. Fashion photograpgers will sometime so this is they work with hard light.
Thanks for sharing!
I love your approach, but why not fill light to get a better background exposure? I know the current generation doesn't like to use a flash, but a properly exposed background (to me) makes a much better, overall shot. Thoughts?
Thanks for sharing jeff! I will try to do a video on this!
What is your advice for warm indoor light? I take pictures for my church and the lighting is super warm and my pictures go into Lightroom orange/yellow.
Thanks for watching!
When u meter in camera are you spot metering for their skin?
do you have a fb group? this was great!
Yes! Search for "KJ Education" on Facebook!
So you expose for the faces? How do you make sure not to blow out / over expose the bg that way?
Shoot RAW :D
@@gu-yang RAW isn't going to recover blown out highlights. I almost always set my exposure to the sky then bring up my shadows in post.
Thanks for watching!
Do you shoot in Manual and do you shoot jpeg or raw?
Always manual!! Card one records Raw card two is a jpeg backup
What lens would you use for this
We love the RF 28-70 2.0
What is your camera pic style pease
Thanks for watching!
What lens did you use?
Thanks for watching!
Great tips, however, personally I would have picked the thinner trees as background. I love the out of focus trees as backgrounds.
Thanks for watching!

Shooting Raw and metering off of the faces?
Thanks for watching!
“Don’t wipe your nose on her” 😭
haha! things I never thought I would say
Are you able to achieve light in the eyes with this method?
I talk shop with a professional portrait photographer now and again and she says the slightly overexposed, low contrast stuff is what people want now. Almost like just raising the brightness slider in photoshop with very little saturation. She says she hates the look but that's what her clients want. Why would anyone want that? I like your teaching style and channel. However, why not wait for golden hour light backlit with a bit of fill-in flash, perhaps. I know you don't always have time to wait, though. Now when I shoot film, which is 85% of the time, I like a bit of that washed-out faded look if I am shooting some old gas station or landscape.
Thanks for watching Keith! For me it all comes down to personal preference. I encourage people to find their style and market that. I never shoot with fill-in flash. But I understand some people like that style. Share what you like to create and you will book clients that want that result!
@@KatelynJames Nobody really likes flash. Especially with cameras capable of very good ISO stops. I am a Canon shooter and recently went full frame with an RP and really like it. I mostly use it for my photojournalism work but have more fun shooting 35mm film on old Mirandas and Minoltas. I've learned so much about digital from channels like yours. Keep on keeping on!
I don't think I get photography because I see it popular to have the pictures very bright like this and they look too bright and the background is really light so they don't stand out. I really want to be a photographer but I don't know what makes a good photograph I think
I found the results a bit overexposed for my taste but great video
Thanks for watching!
Her work is light and airy style
Why haven’t you shown the photos
Thanks for watching!
I appreciate your approach but I have to say that I think your personal photographic look or style is too bright and washed out or undersaturated. I get that you are very successful though and your customers that choose you like your portfolio.
Thanks for sharing!
Involving young, active children in your video is risky business. But as I watched how you involved them, I couldn't help but think you would have done fine had they been real dinosaurs.
