In this video, I go over a technique we've seen come up a couple of times in OUR SERIES IN THE DOJO where SSOL and I interview established music producers in the dance music scene. When I FIRST learned this technique it really did blow my mind in how simple it was but how big of a difference it made in a bunch of my tracks. The idea of this trick is to make sure to quantize your drum loops and then apply a swing that can add cohesiveness to all your drums.
When using drum loops from different companies it can get really tricky in realizing if some contain swings that other's dont. Swing is the big factor here as it can create rhythm clashes in all your drum loops. Watch the video to learn ho to mitigate this and turn all your drum loops into Tech House Loop DESTROYERSSSS!!

Additional tip with this - check the warp markers/transients that Ableton automatically creates in loops, because sometimes they aren't always exactly accurate. You can always reinsert new ones at the correct starting point of a transient to make the quantize/swing even more clean

Great tip Zen! Quick question do you prefer to extract the groove from an existing element like the bass in your example versus adding swing to all the elements with one of the swings that come with Ableton?

@@ZenWorld yes I did learn something, I felt like you were talking to me the whole time. I have been clashing rhythms and haven’t had a dominate “groove” so now I’m applying just one swing groove on all the channels so they swing together

use span in order to see how your mix performs. maybe your mix down is not as good as you think

Here's the funny thing I like any other producer out there aimlessly put loops and wonder why they don't groove and it's the little things like this. When I heard this from Truth X Lies I was like what never thought about it like that. Just a wake up call alarm.
