WOW JUST GREAT BRAVO!
My community orchestra is playing this weekend!! ❤️
I so appreciate this musicianship
Brava!
William Grant Still is each time more known here In Brazil. Thank you for this magnificent performance that adds blues and spirituals with classical music form. From São Paulo 🇧🇷
Mesmerizing. Beautiful. Deeply moving. You can’t say more about a composition or performance. Bravo!
Presently studying this composer in musicalogy. Very happy to come across this exceptional recording. Thanks Maestro.
The syncopation across instrument sections is such a great effect. Like a big stride piano.
Mr. Still was a wonderful composer, who wrote some great pieces...this is one of them, and well done by the Tampa Bay Symphony! Thank you!
Wowwww!😱
How has no one commented on this beautiful interpretation

What a beautiful interpretation
TikTok enlightened me about MR. STILL and I was trained in classical piano & voice - all Caucasian. Yet, I am aware of Duke Ellington, Scott Joplin & Phillipa Schuyler, Marian Anderson, etc., but how did Mr. Still's musical genius get overlooked? BRAVO, MAESTRO~✨💝
William Grant Still composed five symphonies, this is my favorite. Blues, rhythm, and wonderful melody. Thanks for making this beautiful symphony available. It sounds very good with my Bose earphones.
A very engaging and wonderful piece of music. I appreciate hearing it here. thank you!
Classy music and classy rendition. Bravi!
0:01 I. Longing

12:04 III. Humor
15:37 IV. Aspiration
can’t wait to play this for region orchestra, it sounds fun.
John McWhorter of the NYT mentioned Still in his story on Rhapsody in Blue on 2/22/24. I found this marvelous performance and heard Still’s work for the first time. Thank you !
Did knew that the 3rd movement from this piece has a motif that was stolen by Gershwin for his I got rhythm
I've heard this before but can't remember when.
Reminds me of Porgy and Bess
Splendid performance of a rarely-heard work. It is shameful that W.G. Still is not a familiar American composer.
15:00 audition
This guy is a great moorish American,., Afro American king
am i the only one wishing there were some black folks playing? lmao...
The kettle-drummer flubbed the beginning. Can't stay on tempo.
OK, I'm sorry but the percussion section sucked!!! Off time, sped-up timing, off beat on the down beat. Come on?!?!? Otherwise, a nice tribute to this great African-American composer.
