As a UK driver this is really interesting as I’m hoping to visit Ireland in the future. I live in Northern Scotland and I’m 100 miles (160 KM) from the nearest motorway so they can be slightly intimidating even though I’ve been driving for 25 years. I think driving on unfamiliar roads is good experience for anyone but I’ve never driven outside of the UK.

There is a sign for "Traffic Calming" on one panel, I'm quite unfamiliar with the term. I am planning to drive through the island of Ireland in the future, so I assume that signage in Northern Ireland is similar or the same except for MPH rather KPH speed limits and the absence of the Irish language on the signs. I'm from Australia so driving on the "correct" side of road and dealing with Metric road measurements holds no terror for me!
Traffic calming is just a process of slowing down the traffic, the signs in the North of Ireland are different to a certain extent but not to a huge degree. You'll get used to it quickly enough.

It means that the buses and cyclists will be travelling in the same direction as the car drivers
