Buying anyone before slot and new coaches get to see how the players react in a new system would be extremely foolish
It is sound logic but I think if Arne really wants to see players in the new formation then we may well have to prepare ourselves for an extremely quiet window. Most of our players will have 3 weeks off after the tournaments meaning that we have 9 that won't be back for another 3 weeks. Players he probably has question marks over like Diaz, Gravenberch, Gakpo and Gomez. Then he will probably want to see them in training and at least 1 game which takes you to probably around mid August (if he consider 2 weeks a reasonable amount of time) . By which point, most players we want will probably have already gone somewhere else or the selling club, smelling our desperation, will price him at a value that FSG won't go to.
So, in summary, I think Slot will probably have to take a bit of a flyer this summer otherwise, if we think there maybe a need for someone like Ugarte, we miss out on them.
@@headleybenn5204 Gakpo and Gomez aren't question marks for me. Gakpo is starting to show what he can do and Gomez is at best a elite defender and at worst a useful guy to have around. Replacing them would cost a fortune. Diaz will stay unless he wants to go. Gravenberch is just so young and has obvious quality; just needs to develop a bit more grit.

Betting Bajcetic would stay fit at Liverpool is a disastah. The kid has missed 74 games and 429 days of football. Liverpool should loan him out and see if he can still play one season of football.
Don't jump on to a conclusion. Let manager make a decision and we will know it from press.
Bajcetic can start for liverpool if he is on his A game. Harvey was also a younger player two seasons ago when he made us all speechless with his performance.
And what is in club's best interest it will definately be in ours also.
So we don't necessary want a new midfielder unless manager wants us to sign one.

Look at it from this perspective:
- New manager in to assess the squad needs
- You already have a first team full of experience and options in most positions
- You have a robust academy full of talent looking to find first team opportunity
- Your loanees are back with new experiences under the belt looking to find first team opportunity
- Your international players are away needing crucial rest before they join preseason for further assessment
Why would you sign players for the sake of it? can you promise them game time in the first team? are you sure there are nobody already there at LFC contracted and trained to fill the vacant spots in the first team?
Keeper? Could be Viteslav Jaros (had a fantastic season loan with Sturm Graz won the league as first choice keeper) and/or Marcelo Pitaluga depending on Kelleher leaving, seeing out/or renewing his contract, Along first choice Allison
Center back? Could well be Sepp Van den berg who had a great season with Mainz, Amara Nallo from the academy can be on the fringes for extra depth, Along first choice VVD, Konate, Gomez & Quansah, LFC would only buy a new center back if Sepp don't impress or preferred to go to Mainz on a permanent deal
Left back? Already have two in the position but in the case of a Tsimikas transfer away, Owen Beck will be looking to impress if not Gomez been good in the position
Right back? Already have two in the position TAA & C. Bradley, Ramsay already out on loan
Midfield? Endo, Bajčetić, Macca, Gravenberch, Szobo, Jones, Elliot with the trio B. Clark, J. Mcconnel, T. Morton & Carvalho looking to impress
Attack? Salah, Nunez, Diaz, Jota, Gakpo, B. Doak with J. Danns & L. Koumas looking to impress
all these players need a proper look from the new manager before he could turn to transfers & the international tournaments delayed the process
aggressive senseless transfers can break cohesion (and PSR), don't forget you need to be able to promise minutes to your new signing if he is joining the first team

in short, let management cook then judge by mid season progress if they actually missed big in the transfer window
new signings are fun & all but never throw your players away cheap for them, hold on for good offers, react to a good opportunity to sign a player who could actually improve the squad or the academy, Macca, Szobo & Endo transfers were top absolutely solid & were very needed to replenish the midfield and they only costed us 113m, less than Caicedo did for Chelsea (I don't know how they are managing their PSR probably because of the installments loophole that was shut recently)
Lets hope Man Cheaty don't win their case against PSR, its really needed or extremely wealthy club owners will run amok unchecked

Jota injured all the time, gakpo has been inconsistent, Diaz is 27 and has shown 0 signs of improvement has no end product. Nunez is younger and has been here shorter so we have to give him a bit more time but he’s still frustrating as shit. If they’re ready then sure, if they aren’t then you could be ruining the season and possibly the careers of the young players as well. These guys are 17,18 and have played a few cup games. The guys like Bradley had successful loan spells in league one / championship with consistent minutes before getting into the senior team.
Irrespective of watching the current squad first ...edwards should work on signing 1 CDM for covering endo and 1 def. ( left footed) for departed matip

The CB position is so obvious, that for me waiting is not a good approach - it is sloppy. CBs need time to fit into a team and you'd think pre season is perfect for that, no?
The squad is mostly covered quite well in most positions, but imo we need a right winger (Bakayoko?) a dm(idk who, but i personally think that we should splash the cash on a player that is no doubt better than Endo. Especially if we go for a double pivot) a left footed cb(Calafiori is slipping, so maybe Colwill?) perhaps a new lb(Ayt-Nouïri?)
Also maybe sign someone like McCarthy to take up Adrians position. Sell Kelleher and keep Jaros.
And agree a steady approach is needed BUT we have lost some senior players on free transfers and so do need some signings to replace them at least… and it’s frustrating that players who have supposedly been linked with us are going to rivals…. The fact we are in the minority of clubs not doing deals says others around us are improving already

Its a bit late movement transfer, but since its a new era of the head coach, this late movement is wise choice consider players who can fit the system or not. I feel August is the time when new players will come.

When we played him there he seemed to struggle receiving the ball facing his own keeper and was brutal defending it he center of the pitch. I think he’ll do fine at right back with a possession approach under slot but seems to be a complete liability in midfield

You're right, lot of people says sign these players, sign those players... What they are don't realize, doing aggresive transfer will potentialy break the team.
It's better if Arne and coach team doing assessment first for primary squad and youth squad, then they can communicate with Edwards and Richard about transfer.
Don't worry because good players are often available in market.
