I Tried Following A Soap Cupcake Tutorial

- So I am a huge fan of fancy soaps, in every way, shape, and form - I love smelling soaps, feeling soaps, and using soaps - and last year I even tried following a soap art tutorial to attempt to make my own batch of snazzy, swirly soap. So when I stumbled upon a whole new category of soapy treats - dessert soaps - I figured, we had to try and make some soap cupcakes for ourselves. So I followed a sparkling champagne soap cupcake tutorial from Soap Queen TV/Bramble Berry with ~interesting~ results, to say the least!
EDIT: also, apparently the goggles we were wearing aren't the safest option, so if you try something like this please get some real soap-making goggles!!

Fun fact: The cutter has ruffles to prevent the soap from sticking to the cutter a lot. Much like textured knives, they have ridges to prevent certain foods from sticking on them when cutting.

I'm a retired chef, Mr. Fab. That's just a ridged/ruffled knife, it's not some special soap thing at all. Ever eat a waffle fry or a crinkle cut french fry? That's the knife that makes that shape. It's used for decorative garnishes like making carrot sticks look a bit more interesting. When cooks want a knife that passes straight through sticky foods like cheese or cold butter we either use a stainless steel wire, similar to a home cooks cheese cutter, but the pro wire knives don't have plastic or aluminum rollers next to the wire. They just have a frame, a wire cutter with a tightening nut, and a handle. Some cooks have a knife with a cut-out blade so there is less drag. We never use a ridged knife in the hope of preventing drag because they don't prevent drag at all. Cooks only use them to make decorative ridges, or more surface area, in the food.

They look great honestly. She has a touch of artistic talent - I’d never be able to pull these off
hi safiya! i noticed when you were filling your silicone molds to make the bats and stuf you had to get a lot of excess soap you had to get rid of. i used to have the same issue when i worked with wax to make wax melts. if you used a syringeto pour your soap base wax etc., you get a neater, more controlled way to fill your molds, especially when your working with smaller ones. there also arent a lot of bubbles when you use the method!
