"These are Thunders but I ride for Independent" 🤣🤣🤣
Straight up, I don’t even blame him!
Ahhahahha
He lost them as a sponsor from that comment.
Was Royal’s before lol
He's a sellout
I hate how often Roger gets ignored. Not on purpose or whatever but I always see him comment on something and the guest or Chris unintentionally ignore what he says
@Dr Rhomboid Goatcabin 😂
Crob always fishing for a call from Thunder 🤣
As he should haha
You guys have got to get Ben Degros on!
Ben and paul would for sure get into a very interesting conversation... love to see it
For sure!
That was funny af when Chris said I'm trying to sell this thing
Chris got timing
Finally I don't feel so OCD about setups. I try to ask people about stuff like this at the skateshop and they look at me like I'm crazy. They never know a single spec other than width. Why can't the kids at the skateboard shop be like these dudes?
Some people find the analysis paralysis side of skating to be so jarring and unintuitive. Shut up and skate etc....
Because they just work there for discounts and gear
100% same... there is just no point asking dudes at skateshops anything.
Because they're paid minimum wage and most of them don't skate I could say the same thing about the kids at paintball stores or fields just like skating has professional leagues so does paintball and guns tanks hoppers pads jerseys pants stuff you'd think nothing about its very important to know things about them just like the specs of a board has to be extremely important but they will never be paid enough there's not enough money in either for that lol. And skateboards sell for a few hundred bucks on the high side and these paintball guns can run you a couple gs so even if they cost that much you wouldn't have enough profit to pay them more then minimum wage or a dollar more at most lol
“Why are kids not like these matured grown men with more life experience?”
"that board ain't sellin"
“Analization” -Chris Roberts 2021
This dude is so interesting
Paul Schmitt is The Merlin of Skateboarding.
Man I love watching Paul explain these things…so deep. 🚬 💨
Crobs handled this so hilariously
oh god now I’m gonna check the nanotubes on my next deck
Hi. The electronic protractor does probably have its own error on the measure of the angle. Mine is 0.2° for example, which is almost inperceptible under the feets in my opinion. Concerning the "fingers of flat" demonstration, the concept make total sense. But the way i measure it is to mark with a sharpie the points where the curves for nose and tail start by using a long ruller on its side. This way you can measure more accurately the displacement of the holes for the trucks. I just got a 8.25 chocolate Chris Roberts twin. And the one i got it is perfectly symmetrical (in the error intervals of my measurment tools) 14' 1/32 inch wheelbase. From the center of the deck 9' 15/16 of flat to tail 1, 9' 15/16 of flat to tail 2. Angle of tail 1: 19.30°. Angle of tail 2: 19.50°. Length of tail 1: 7' 6/16. Length of tail 2: 7' 6/16. Concavity: 0' 5/16. Which is a pretty flat board. I agree with the knife with two blades concept. But for people who wish to wear down the nose and tail at the same rate, i think the idea of a symmetrical board is very interesting. You just theoretically double the lifetime of the deck. Btw i don't skate nollie or sw stance. So that might influence my way of thinking
I had goosebumps when Prof Paul Schmitt stating fact after fact about accuracy of a deck. He's a genius.
Thank you guys for your honesty for letting all those facts out to the public.
Chris Roberts is very funny when wanted to cut off those secrets. Really appreciate your transparency.
You guys are awesome ✊🏽
Good Episode!
Droppin Science from Tijuana to Toronto Bro🤟🍻
The pocket knife with one blade is obviously better. Multitools are always shit compared to the correct stuff
Why not have other tools at hands?
@@AskYaMommyBoutMeBoi always have your correct tools with you. Never use multitools.
@@thatoneguybones8036 hammer, drill, measuring tape and spoons are all NOT multi tools. As german i know that their only other function is beer opener.
If you know the spoons on airplanes that are a fork and spoon in one. That would be a multi tool and they are the worst.
@@thatoneguybones8036 a multi bladed knife is a multi tool. For what does a knife need a second blade, if not to be used on cutting somthing different than the other blade?
"that boards not selling" :D
I got that CROB twin-tail
What did you like about it?
this was awesome, that guy is impressive
This is so nerdy. I love it
Did you ever make sure they are drilling the holes the exact same distance from each end so the board is actually symmetrical?
Well, I was so excited about double tail deck, now I think more about just find a board that's have tail and nose not so much diferent and for sure much more into my preferences ( tail and nose on the same level, nose not so much longer different from tha tail) !
daym I love Paul Schmitt!
I always try to ride the same board and shape. I prefer any brand from Deluxe. I need 8.25 x 32, with a 14.25 wheelbase, and the tail at least 6.75. I measure my boards (I bring a tape measure), I don't trust the sticker, nor the employees word. I'm the dude in shops with two or three boards on the floor, standing on them to see which feels right. The whole point is, I know what works best for me, and I do not want to have to get used to different lengths wheelbases, tail steepness, etc. I want to put a board together and have the familiarity. Trucks and wheels stay they same, too: Thunder 149s and 53mm wheels -- usually Spits -- but Bones are good too, as long as they are skate park formula, since I skate concrete parks a lot.
Thunders are the best skateboard trucks
No not by a long shot
I love stereo and darkstar nanotubes. So much pop
This dude with the straight up “as seen on TV” gauges haha
leme see your board bro, yeah it's got broken nano tubes....
That mold guy is a skate doctor the lab coat is pretty cool
I’ve always wanted decks to have the same nose/tail ratio. I’m surprised companies didn’t jump on it a long time ago
Symmetrical boards have always come and gone with the trends.
It's not good for business. The tale of two tail$
Put some grind kings on there chris and you probably could skate the stage again lol
dude fr, I'm skating this shape with gk disruptors with andrew reynolds 93a 52mm, probably the best setup i've ever skated in my entire life lmao
I wonder what the most optimized skateboard will look like in 20 years
symmetrical board for sure.
I've wondered this too. Almost all sports that once used wood equipment have transitioned to some form of composit. Hockey sticks, tennis rackets, fishing rods, snowboards, skis, etc. Skateboarding is the only sport I can think of that still uses wood. I used to test out kevlar/graphite boards for this company trying to bring a composite one to market, but they just never felt as good. They slid too fast and the pop just didn't feel right. Don't even talk about getting a shiner with it. I do think it's inevitable that composit boards will have a place in the future of skateboard manufacturing though considering ever single other sport has transitioned away from wood.
I've always thought skateboard needs turbo thrusters/ability to fly and we could take over all civilizations
pop booster
Snowboards still have wood in them. I'd say you can't beat a wooden skateboard. Skateboards get thrashed so you don't want expensive materials in them. You need that extra weight when flipping your board down something big.
Ive already watched this whole episode 3 times
Nature is amazing.
Dr. Schmitt spitting facts and sciences on Crob's Twin Tails.
Crob: "Pls, I create this baby...."
Lol 3:45
Im super grateful people like paul exist
Like imagine square bushings
Why did he bring up “nano tubes” again? 😓
Why do so many say Schmidt boards are crap compared to before? Is this true?
I've heard a few say it, I'm old, Schmitt always had a good reputation so who knows what happened?
I have a theory that a shorter skateboard would make you skate better... I cant test it though because No companies really make shorter boards though (length-wise)
Creature stumps.
so true. i did good with shorter board (31 inches) in the ninetys. now nothing is under 31.5
Real mason silva boards
So I skated for years between 1999 and 2008. I quit and am now looking at boards again in 2022 and it seems people have gone way wider than before and longer. I remember an 8 seemed big now people ride 9 and a ton ride 8.5. Is it just cause I never saw or do people just use wider boards now?
I have a weird idea I’m going to test out soon. I love twin tails by real, but all the wheelbases are 14.3 to 14.5ish. I bought the twin tail chocolate just now because the wheelbase is 14.0. However it seems to me that the nose and tail pocket’s spacing is pretty standard across the companies. Some like Santa Cruz have steep noses and tails but they’re still pretty much the same distance apart. At Michaels they sell craft foam for costumes and such in 2mm and 4mm thick rolls. I plan to use double sided duct tape on the nose and tail pockets, then some of the foam cut only for the pockets, and finally grip over the whole thing. In theory, this should bring the nose and tail closer together which should help in transition because your foot will catch on blunt tricks sooner and your feet can be slightly closer together in general.
John Malkovich in character
I think you mean "Twin tail" lol.
Schmitt droppin' SCIENCE!
One of my first boards was a Schmitt Stix Ripsaw and good fucking times were had on that!
I love professor Paul. Got me want to look at my boad
Damn laughs
I don't understand the "fingers of flat" thing. What is he measuring?
he's measuring, using his fingers, the amount of flat distance from the hardware to the beginning of nose or tail's slope.
@@hostsofmichael k. And what does that tell you?
no bearing shields. no washers.. no spacers.. just grind bars.
no bearings no wheel no bolts no board no grind bars...
@@sharkoboyo just soap shoes
@@sharkoboyo its a magical carpet.
Professor Schmidt is here for all the skaters who skipped school
It would be awesome to learn this in school.
@@spiritguidedlifebaby i mightve actually went to class
I use my 2 fingers as a gauge but i smell them after
I haven't skated in years and years. But I can remember getting an Element Bam board(black with pink "bam" graphic) back in the day and being super disappointed. The nose/tail ratio was WAYYY OFF. The nose was wider and longer by a an obvious longshot. I noticed it less then 5 minutes after walking out of the shop and they wouldn't let me trade in. No damage or nothing. I was pissed.
Always stand on a board before gripping. I picked between like 4 of the same deck for my last purchase and they all were different from one another
Dude, the nose is supposed to be wider and longer than the tail unless you get a twin tail.
825 is the new 8.
Paul Schmitt is like the My Pillow Guy , his thinking is right to him . Right ? Ok Right ?
I'm sorry, but I can't ignore the grammar mistake in the title lmao
How so?
Chris Roberts'
8"?
So there has to be a “perfect” board size depending on shoe size/height/and maybe weight? No? Or no?
It’s really just personal preference!
You could never truly arrive at a universal ideal, because even with shoe size, height, and weight matched you'd miss disparity in skeletal and muscular proportions from person to person.
@Baja Malibu Surf Report My point was it's not as simple as a universal based on a few variables. It's an extremely specific, personal thing.
@Baja Malibu Surf Report How is skeletal and muscular structure from person to person a few simple variables? I feel like we're having two separate conversations.
@Baja Malibu Surf Report How is the analysis of length/proportion of skeletal or muscular structure the same variable as overall weight? That makes absolutely no sense. If one person has longer legs than the other but they weigh the same (and are even the same height), their ideal board requirements are going to be different.
PS is very wise.
I’m more a bbs than psstix
Science is cool
Man, Schmitt is so fucking cool.
Get Fos on the show..talk bout the Egg.
That guy's definitely a mad scientist
No way his fingers are 3/4 width 😂
