I love that he’s got a slightly downtrodden slouch to his robot mode posture. He looks like he’s walking home from the shops and he couldn’t find what he wanted.
this kind of toy can really only come about in a country that doesn’t have many actual guns floating about, and in a time where nobody expects it to get exported to where there would be. it’s a very interesting piece but i cant help but feel the nature of it as a realistic-ish gun means the politics overshadow the actual fella in question. speaking of, strange to see an orange tip on the gun mode, i figured that was something that only happened in the 90s after a few too many incidents of mistaken identity.
This is actually a very clever design, wonky robot mode aside. Concerning the Gun Robo line... Floro Dery was the best thing to happen to Megatron as a character. Plus Frank Welker's incredible voice acting. Iconic! That said, tank alt-modes were ultimately a better idea, especially for baddies. If nothing else, they scale better with most of the other toys.
Real loosey-goosey chap there Now I want to see Transformers get a Teen Titans Go/Thundercats Roar treatment that just constantly takes the piss out of itself (and causes thousands to whine about their childhood being ruined), and this here fella will be Megatron’s rootin’ tootin’ himself-shootin’ cowboy granddaddy
I'm rarely jealous of other people's Transformers but Kiloton is one of my grails. I dread to think how much he'll cost on the rare occasion you find someone selling him.
Had I gotten a 41 year old toy about 30 years ago, it would've been like two year old me playing with one of my grandpa's childhood toys. He wouldn't have minded, but it would've broken soooooo fast. Glad to see you're exercising great caution with such a valuable Japanese robot toy, we need to preserve such amazing Takara history!!
It's a shame that Hasbro didn't import this and the Browning to serve as additional goons for the Decepticons. The padlocks, too, as a lower price point set of baddies.
I still have my Shogun Warriors Godzilla! He is sitting on a shelf take the top spot in my humble collection. Back in 2003, I lost my job and had to sell all my toys just to make ends meet. But I told my wife my Shogun Warriors Godzilla would NEVER be sold. Only over my dead body. So, here we are after several coincidental accidents that could have ended my life and my Godzilla is still with me.😁 on my life
Those designers were so clever. And the manufacturing - such quality for it to be in decent nick even now. I suspect the world would be better with fewer guns, planes, cars (etc) but render them as toys that turn into robots and all is forgiven.
It's Megatron's best friend, Kiloton! But also yeah, 100% on that opening sentence. It's why I have mixed feelings getting GI Joe figures. Fun characters, but all those realistic weapons...
Personally, a world that needs weapons is a sad thing, but it is necessary unfortunately. Taking away all guns in the world would only make things WORSE because then we'd have to go back to using swords and axes and clubs, and those are a lot more gruesome and a LOT harder to survive wounds from, medically speaking. Much easier to recover from a bullet wound in the arm than having your whole arm chopped off, you know? Plus, as a supporter of equal rights for women, taking away the "great equalizer" would mean that that women couldn't defend themselves as readily. In a melee fight, the bigger, stronger opponent usually wins, but with a gun, even a 5 foot something girl can protect herself from a pushing 7 foot dude. It's a shame that weapons are a thing at all, but I think a lot of the (mostly) 90s era anti-gun propaganda have given people the wrong impression about guns. Like somehow guns are more "evil" than any other type of weapon. Heck, even today, more people are killed by knives then guns. And a knife is exactly the sort of thing guns were designed to protect you from.
yeah man idk i live in france where guns are super restricted, and i dont want to see guns, ever. Only civilians allowed to have them are hunters, and even that i'm against, personally. Police intervention units have gun-adjacent weapons (smoke/crying gaz/loud sound grenade launchers, stuff like that), and there are people clamoring for them to go (people have lost an eye bc of these weapons). I realize that my opinion is absolutely west european lol, but yeah to me i really do have this perception that guns are "more evil". I think it's about the psychology of it : it's a tool that can kill in an instant. But i agree, knives are also *extremely* dangerous. About women's rights, my opinion as someone who's perceived as a woman is that it doesn't matter if you have a gun or a knife to defend yourself, bc chances are your weapon will be taken and used against you. There are places that you are simply not allowed to go to, hours when you can't go outside. It's a societal issue, and can't be resolved with weapons (besides, when it comes to short-term answers to this issue, self defense techniques are useful).
I find it interesting that this figure has the safety orange cap but they never bothered with Megatron or Browning. Kind of strange to be inconsistent with it.
You didn't shoot it. 0/10. Owning both the Destroy Monarch Megatron KO and the Browning KO from a few years back, owning this guy would be a far-fetched dream.

"No Toffypops again...ffs!!!'
A reissue of Repugnus with that ‘4’ logo would be great - when he pops up on eBay it always feels like stumbling upon official TRDQ merch.
Not many CZcamsrs have covered this guy, glad you...took a shot at it.
Imagine the universe where they used this guy as Megatron.

Gavin you handsome man, thank you for yet another solid stunner of a video. Pls, do keep at it.

Your videos, as always, are an absolute pleasure
Thanks as always, Gavin!!!

on my life
Happy four years! Here's to another four.
In paradise lost, it is inplied the devil invented gunpowder
Megatron's depressed cousin, Braunster.
Him and browning could of made great Decepticon leaders!
That’s a pretty convincing revolver
1:13 ai Gav is that Legacy Thundertron’s sword?
Also, will you be attending TFCon Toronto?
Nope it's from a different toy! 😊 Also I would love to one day!
Hope you're having a good day
Ahhh Nema Studios figure at the end .. I recommend their Trap Door figures too
Saint Nicholas. 😂❤ I love it. Super accurate!
Great Review mate! Where did you purchase him from?
Why does the head on this figure remind me of Defensor
Just lucky I guess
I had that Godzilla. I miss him.
Pew pew!
This would be so easy for Hasbro and/or Takara to reissue in a less realistic color scheme, but I guess they're allergic to money.
Kiloton my beloved, megs' boyfriend
It all makes sense now
Those designers were so clever. And the manufacturing - such quality for it to be in decent nick even now.

Can it actually fire the bullet?
Nope!
I think disappear is a bit too far.
Think of all the things we could make from the metal if they were melted down instead!
It's Megatron's best friend, Kiloton!

Theyre husbands >:3

nah man, guns are awesome. You should get yourself one. Better to have and not use it, than to need it and not have it.
Yeah... I'm pretty sure he lives in the uk. They have heavy restrictions on gun. It makes sense why he doesn't like them , they're not common.
And they're y'know...wildly dangerous etc
Nah you're right I'll get a bazooka
@@TRDQ yeah that too
@TRDQ so are cars. You should just use heelies to go everywhere.

I did shoot it at 2:10
@@TRDQ I don't see no firing gimmick.
@@TRDQ But I see no firing?
@@Guatdefook thanks for the extra view, ASSHOLE
