Tomahawk Live Trap model DT1. The Neighborhood Cats Drop Trap set up and tear down. This trap is designed for catching wary cats that are shy of box style traps.
Thanks for this excellent presentation. I have borrowed this drop trap from someone who didn't know what the extra grid was for, so I didn't utilize it. One kitty was so big and rambunctious he was able to move that trap 3 feet to the edge of the concrete thereby creating a gap at the uneven surface from concrete pad to grass that could have been his escape. Now I know to use that weight grid as an anchor.
Your video was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for your, calm, clear, evenly-paced, well-shot footage. For ten months I have been hoping to catch an older female kitty living in the yard. This morning I finally did! And I followed your instructions to the letter, which is part of the reason the catch was successful. Sweet girl is at the vet now...
Thank you for the video. When i recieved the trap, I had no clue on setting it up and difficulty folding back up and putting it back in the folded top and securing it. Saving video for help with future use.
This a very informative vid. I’ve had my drop trap for about 5+ yrs and never used it because I was never shown. I’ve only used the traditional trap. The one with the self activated trap door. I have 3 cats I need to trap and they are always together. This is great. Now I can trap all at once🙏🏽
I've been using the Tomahawk drop trap for several years and have caught at least 60-70 cats with it. I'm the "official cat trapper" of our large group that care for and feed feral cat colonies around the Hilton Head SC area. This is a must have item for all the difficult or previously trapped cats.
Thanks for this video! Working on a TNR initiative in my neighborhood and we'll be utilizing this drop trap. Learned a couple of things since the instructions that came with it were quite meager.
I strongly suggest for tear down: Clip the clips to the sides of the trap. Don’t let them dangle. If you let them dangle, they will clip to the trap on their own but in all the wrong places, and you will need to pry them apart next time you go to set your trap. This can get extremely difficult if not impossible to accomplish without a pair of pliers. If your finger gets stuck, it hurts bad. And with a colony of cats watching… never again!
