Thank you for this. After not improving much for several years I've finally started to feel like my game is reaching another level after taking on board your theories on correct sighting and aiming. I always focused on and blamed my cue action for every bad shot, but now I've realised I've been looking in the wrong place most of the time.
Keep up the good work! From Chris in Bideford, England.

I've only just come across your channel and started to watch them. I've been a club league player for years, recently my teenage son has started playing and this video sums up in a few minutes what I have tried to explain to him for a few weeks, he has been obsessed with trying to manufacture a technique from watching other videos , what I like about this vid (which is spot on by the way) is that you are confirming what I believe the true technique is there is no technique it's more tactile than people think particularly about visualising and striking than can be thought mechanically I also have developed a long pause on my back swing on tough long pots which focuses the mind on visualising both the outcome and enhancing my focus, the results speak for themselves as it is a case of what works for one doesn't necessarily suit all, but like you point out if you think you will miss you most probably will, keep the visa coming!

Wonderful stuff! Finally somebody taking up the issue of how shots look on different days, and a load of other wonderful tips. What helped me the most aiming is instead of aiming at a point on the surface of the object ball, I started aiming with the centre of gravity inside the object ball in mind (C.O.G is the point inside the ball that is equidistant from all points on it's surface) and what line the white should take, if it where to push the C.O.G of the OB along a line into the pocket. As I go down on the shot I just stay focussed on the OB COG and the line it should take into the pocket. This is very different than imagining the point of intersection between the white and the object ball and aiming for that. It works way better for me, because the size and shape of the object ball in my mind, and the centre of it's gravity always remains constant for every shot. Whenever you take out variables, such as the point of intersection, you will always make things simpler, and in my mind I am only concentrating now on the line of the white and aiming precisely for that line, but at the same time I'm still imagining the path of the object ball at every time under the shot - the point where the white hits the object ball is irrelevant.
Before I started to do this, I was often bothered in my pre-shot visualization of angles by lighting and shadows on the surface of the balls. Ignoring the surfaces and just concentrating on the inner COG - makes the balls disappear! and you are just left with two simple lines and no tricky interactions of spherical surfaces to negotiate.

Could you do a video on rule changes you'd like to see? I'd like an extra spot between blue and pink to reduce all that faffing around getting a ball (normally the pink) as close as possible to its spot. Alternatively, I'd add a line down the middle of the table to make respotting when all the spots are occupied quicker.

I would like to know how my friend who is shorter with short arm reach can play this way. She has to play with the cue out to the side due to her femininity. She has definitely improved over the year she has been playing, but she is unable to use the traditional bridge finger spread. Thank you in advance! Residing in Lakebay, WA, USA.
