    Cats in bags and cats in cowboy hats!! Love it! And I love the thought of you carrying your son on your back all the time when he was little. That piece is beautiful.

    I love watching your videos. You always stitch the coolest things, and your stitches are just perfect. Thank you for adding the CC for those of us who have hearing issues, it truly means a lot. I always look forward to seeing a new cast from you, too. Wishing you a lovely day. :)

    I showed my husband the part about walnuts and he said "so that is what that is in our backyard." Turns out we have walnuts too, who knew.
    You need to paint every wall in your house that coral color, you just glowed in front of it. Love the Renoir. Beautiful finishes.

    I do understand the giddiness of silence and alone time. It's rare for moms and hope you enjoyed it. ;) I do love your Renoir and the paint color behind it... at the beginning of the video it looked like a pinky sort of rusty apricoty color, but when you got closer it seemed more red, so it must change with the light. Loved your Mother and Child. I went to Africa two years ago and the place sort of gets in your heart like no other. Thanks for sharing about your son, I would imagine that piece would be rather emotional! I carried my babies around in wraps a lot when they were young. Oh and I did enjoy the natural science piece of your video! 😊

    I grew up with a ton of black walnut trees in my yard. Love them and the smell. It's fun to watch the squirrels go crazy collecting them. We ate them - my dad collected them and dried them out on large screens. The black icky stuff would be good for staining fabric. :)

    A friend once told me that a woman needs time at home alone with her "stuff." I think she's right. My husband and I are retired and I seldom have time alone. When I do have a little time I find myself moving things around - a pillow moved from chair to sofa, a picture changed from one shelf to another. Just time with my stuff. :) Your Mother and Child is lovely. I love the vibrant background. Your two mothers would be beautiful side by side. Cowboy Cats is the cutest thing ever! I completely understand your reaction concerning gifts. It is such a blessing to me to be able to give gifts to others - my faith tells me that I am blessed so that I can be a blessing to others. So I do send gifts from time to time. But public thanks are not necessary or expected. It is a shared experience between me and the person I've gifted, and that's enough for me. Loved your walnut segment! When I was a child we had a hickory tree that dropped nuts in the fall. It was a special tree because the shade under it was my playhouse for many hours. Blessings, Marlene

Love all your projecrs and how you FFOd them. This painting is looking super great on that wall and has that calmness and relaxation feel. We have black walnuts too. Unfortunately, our tree is also on a hill. I know you know what I'm getting at. Interesting tidbit....black walnuts make a good natural dewormer for pigs. Your finish is stunning. I'm sure stitching the background was tedious but it really is stunning!!

      @lindystitches  Před 6 lety +2

      That is fascinating! Do they eat the whole thing? Do you have to peel it for them? How do you get the walnut into the pig? Can you tell I'm not a farmer? xo

    My hubby was (trying) to play a video game and I was (trying) to watch flosstube and stitch with the kids running wild, and he heard you talking about being alone, and he told me he thought you were bragging, lol! I am a Tennessee Hillibilly who does collect black walnuts, the kids and I find it fun and of course totally messy, I bet your kids would love it. My 9 and 11 year old love cracking them open.

    Your Kentucky neighbor here knows about your "nutty" experience. My mother, who lives across the driveway from us, has three black walnut (as what you displayed) trees in her back yard and two English walnut trees in her front yard, The English ones fell off exceptionally early this year and the black ones are falling now and it is an extraordinarily abundant year for them. The trouble we've found in the last several years is finding a buyer for them. They used to bring good money for people to pick up and take to have weighed and purchased, I worry that my 88 year old mother will get out and fall on one she doesn't see, so I'm guessing I'll be picking up walnuts tomorrow! Yes, gloves a necessity!! I really enjoyeed seeing your finishes and WIPs....I just always love to see what you're working on and hear your description of them! Loved your video as usual.....looking forward to your next edition!

      @lindystitches  Před 6 lety

      I had a couple other comments about people making money from them, but I've never heard of anyone around here doing that. Hope your walnut removal went smoothly! At least they're not too hard to pick up, even if there are a zillion of them! xo

    I am still laughing about the walnuts!!!!! I would DEFINETLY be a 'hillbilly' for sure ! We don't have those tree's here in the Northwest...walnuts,pecans, etc are like $10 a pound. And the thought of running over them in a car...just blows my mind. You are so lucky. Your Mother & Child piece is breath-taking ! I had no idea of all the detail just from the advertised picture. I noticed the wall color AND the beautiful painting first frame :) not to mention how pretty you looked sitting in that color it is very appealing for you too! I think your stitching is so lovely and your funky design choices are cool - I'm not cool, I'm boring. I'm not a good gift receiver either...I always have running through my head of what I should make/send/do for them back and my husband is always trying to remind me that people give to me because of the reason I like to give to others too....just because they love me and want to do and enjoy giving...so with that in mind I always try to keep that in mind (but I still suck at receiving...lets face it). Walnuts are everywhere but not here in my subdivision its acorns. WE have Oaks ALL OVER and last night I thought squirrels were throwing them at me as we were on our evening walk. I got pelted like 6 times. Have a great week ahead and thank you for sharing your very sweet self with us!

    I totally understand your need for quiet and time alone; I have been that way all of my life and I am now 70. Being retired, I have lots of quiet time; I don't turn the tv on unless I plan to watch a DVD, so my time at home is very quiet which is what I love. It is hard to have time alone when you still have family at home, so try to enjoy it as much as you can when it does occur. Love the Margaret Sherry pattern; I dug mine out and looked at them with "new" eyes after seeing yours, so I may have to try one. They are all so cute, so hard to pick one. Your Donna Kooler cat pattern is going to be so gorgeous; just love it. The Bag Ladies and the Cowboy Cats are hilarious; love them both!! I look forward to seeing them on your videos. I agree with you totally about the gifting; your feelings are totally appropriate and you did a great job explaining how you feel. I look forward to seeing your new patterns; very exciting. Happy stitching and designing...........................

    Walnuts!! OMGosh! I was wondering what those things were that I was seeing in my yard every now and then! Love your African motif kits (shown on your 10/7/17 video.) Interestingly, I owned the blue mother and child one and gave it away reluctantly because I had so MANY kits. (1) Kooler Designs owes you some royalties for displaying the difference between what they display online and what the stitched product actually looks like. Wow. (2) At the risk of sounding like a silly little New Yorker, are those the same walnuts that we buy in the hard shell? I have never seen a walnut in that state before. I have to read up on how it goes from that go the hard shelled nuggets I'm familiar with. (3) Ummm...Cowboy Cats was a spectacular choice. It's an understated category in cross stitch themes. (4) Your Renoir and your Chatelaine are gorgeous. (5) Ingeborg should be celebrated and mentioned in every video by everyone. She's wonderful.

    Hey, stitch what makes you happy! Cowboy cats and pen pal puppies are totally legit! I loved your stories and finishes. Renoir painting print is amazing. American Walnuts are also super hard to crack for the nut meats, and they are less tasty than English ones. That brown stuff is popular with natural dying for brown tones, that's thier staining power! I hope your time at home was really good!

    The reason this comment is so late is because I’m watching all your old vlogs now that I’ve discovered you. I have the Bag Ladies kit from long ago. It was what made me stop cross stitching! I had forgotten how excruciatingly SLOW it was! Of course, I was stab stitching in a frame. But… now that I’ve discovered stitch in hand, I’m pulling that kit out again! (Maybe I’ll do a little work on it while waiting for floss to finish Purple Transport!)
    I was dying over Fishing Cats!! Never knew Bryan Moon’s name. Had to immediately Google his work. Found 2 Fish8n* Cats on eBay but they were both needlepoint. 😿 Will continue to sea4ch until one shows up. The really funny th8ng is that I kept thinking some of the details looked so familiar - like the cat fishing on his back, etc. Then it dawned on me - I have a small piece that I bought years ago at JoAnns (may have still been Cloth World back then) of a decorator weight cotton of that very print! It has a pale green background. I was going to appliqué the whole cat picture on a tote bag. Now if I can just find it!!
    I also remember Cowboy Cats as a wallpaper border I almost bought! Moon must have really been licensing his stuff a lot back then! Wish I’d had the sense (and funds) to buy more!
    Ok, back to vlog binging. Apparently I’ve got YEARS to catch up on. 😻

  • @kowgirlkatepaintsaplenty8573

    Great video :). Love your finish and new kits. Hell yeah cats look good in cowboy hats ;) ! .Another thing about walnuts, the Native Americans used the shells as a dye, and the trees are toxic to other species, they give off a toxin from thier roots to ensure they have space, which is why it can be hard to get other trees and plants to grow near them

    • @lindystitches
      @lindystitches  Před 6 lety

      Whoa! I had no idea with the toxins! That is so cool! Thanks for the extra science. xo

  • @stitchingintherain-andrea200

    I have to admit I am not a big Walnut fan.. love the nuts, do not love the trees. We are in OR, but have a lot of walnut trees in the neighborhood. We have a massive black walnut tree in our yard and our yard is filled with walnut shells.. filled. Not worth eating, we are just drowning in them. Loved seeing your update... And feel you in an empty house. I have 3 young kids and never have alone time.

      lindystitches - Actually, I do remember cracking them, but they were already stripped of the peal and we're cleaned, so it was just the walnut shell. I think my parents bought them in bulk from a farmer's market.

  • @kellybellstitches3383
    @kellybellstitches3383 Před 6 lety

    Your pieces are fabulous - the mother and child designs are striking. I would think framing them alike would be very interesting as the juxtaposition (Like the word?) of the size and color would bring them together in their difference. Your print is absolutely gorgeous and I love it! I also adore your cat kits - hows that for juxtaposition? LOL - it's early in the morning (very) so excuse my brain. My mother used to always tell me to be careful what I wish for - I never had much time alone - husband, kids, etc. Kids grow up (still around but not always) and my husband passed suddenly almost nine years ago now - enjoy it all - the noise and the silence. Both can be overrated. My husband tried transplanting walnuts from my parent's yard for years to get black walnut trees to grow in the yard - he finally got one to root well - now that he's gone they are everywhere - LOL - and this is NY not IN. Very messy - yuck is right. Loved it all - thanks for sharing - happy stitching - can't wait to see your patterns.

    Hillbilly!! Really? LOL for the first time ever my husband and I collected a HUGE basket of walnuts from the tree in our backyard, which is really on our neighbors property and we ripped off the outer shell. They are now hanging in the garage until spring when we will then crack them open.

    Stephanie well if I ever was home alone for over an hour I would be seen jumping on the sofa, put in a chick flick, go get the carton of ice cream and a spoon, watching the movie.your cats, haha, you said that like you were annoyed haha the cowboy cats are fun, growing up, we had a tapestry in the living room of…….dogs playing cards and smoking cigars……as the story goes, dad was a boxer in the Navy and he won that for winning …..yea, most people in the olden days had a tapestry of the Last Supper, nope not our house….you are a wonderful person, also growing up we collected walnuts and mom put them in the cellar on grids, and yes we cracked them and mom cooked many a good walnut breads.

    Stephanie, you are always enjoyable! There's so much to love (no pun intended!) in this one. I love the African pieces. You must finish them together if you have a good place for them. Or spread the gorgeousness around, if not. They're just so incredible. I love those backgrounds, and your personal connection to them makes them so meaningful.
    I love that you love cat stitches. I want to do the seasonal Kooler ones myself. I'm glad you told us that the pictures are pixelated, because that was a concern of mine. The cowboy cats and fishing cats are so cute. I can't wait to see the cat chart you're designing! I will definitely be buying it.
    And I love your Renoir. It is perfect. And your excitement and passion for it is infectious. I have this hanging in my living room because I'm a children's librarian. I feel the same way you do. www.artsy.net/artwork/william-adolphe-bouguereau-the-story-book
    Thank you for a great time.
    Edited to add: And I almost forgot to mention the Chatelaine!! Beauty beyond belief. You should have heard the sound I made when you brought it up! Kind of a strangled whine of longing. I may have to make a video of my reactions to people's cross stitch pieces. :)

    I live in Missouri, hillbilly country, dont worry I call them hillbillys too. Just wondering if you have something like that there?

They aren’t quite as treacherous neckbreakers because they’re small enough to step on. Can’t wait to see your new projects! Love all the new cat charts and kits 😂 I have incredible respect for your decision not to show gifts on your videos. It shows a lot of thought and consideration that I hope everyone recognizes. Your Renoir looks amazing in your dining room - yes, it’s perfect for a dining room and yes, it coordinates so well with the paint color!
