When I came home from Vietnam I was lost for log time. I heard John's song "Hello in There." I realized what my parents were going through and forgot about myself and called them for the first time in a decade. His song woke me up to what really matters. Thank you John.

Back around 1980 John had a concert in Grand Junction Colorado, only about 20 people showed up. He walked onto the stage and with a warm smile he then said "thank you for coming to see me" then sang to us for two hours. Something I will never forget.
I've been listening to John Prine for over 50 years. I bought his first album in 1971. I introduced my family and many friends to his songs and music. His passing took a part of my being with him because there isn't anyone, in my humble opinion, that will ever come close to portraying life into lyrics as John could do so eloquently. I can only hope that when I leave this world I end up where you are still playing and singing. To the "people" who gave the thumbs-down, well....Some humans 'aint human.
Woody Guthery was before John but I will always feel John was the best in my lifetime (73) and I hope my great grandchildren will produce a new one from their generation.

Years ago...rainy Vancouver night - little dump called The Egress. Mimi Farina was in town and in a shitty mood along with suffering a bad cold. She tried for a bit but crumbled and we got ready to finish our drinks and leave. Over town, the big deal was John Prine with Steve Goodman. Can you imagine that combination? After about 15 minutes offstage, Mimi returns and tells us these two guys were in town and after their gig they came to see her perform. Both being gentlemen and performers to the core, they offered to help Mimi out with those of us still there to hear music. They stepped up, got the guitars out and took over the mike. What a night. And what a perfect example of John Prine the guy and the musician. Mimi's been gone 20 years and now John and Steve are gone, too. But the memory is there, still sweet and fresh. Bless 'em all.
I do not want to stir up any argument. We do not need that now. But I do wonder how evil people sometimes can live so long and then a guy like this is gone too soon.

Was at John's concert 2 years ago, even at his age and lesser vocals his performance was unbelievable. Fully engaged his audience with awesome charisma and storytelling, his songs and music was just an added bonus. After 2 hours straight jamming without a break, at the end of concert he dismisses his crew and does a guitar solo. Had a full concert hall on our feet cheering. Will never forget it! Thank You John, You were one in a million!!!

Something about this gentleman just warms your heart. Perhaps it's his down-to-earth humanity. When you couple that with his lyrical talents that describe much of the human condition in such a sweet way, well, what's left to say.
I was a photographer at the Old Warfield in San Francisco (Owned by Bill Graham back when-early eighties) John Prine played one night. We sat in the green room and talked for a while. Genuinely one of the nicest people anyone could ever have the pleasure to meet. Great guy. Love his music.
I'm at a loss, a very big loss. Glasses held high: To John Prine, though our hearts are heavy our souls are rich, well done! We love you John, and we are damn sure u loved us back
John Prine is a legend. The one thing I love about him is his humility on stage and acts like a normal human being while also on stage. He makes a mistake and responds to it by owning. In recent years less and less singers and performers act with that sense of humanity when they are on stage. They are almost "too perfect". Flawless because of all the technology or are completely full of themselves. They're not genuine. John Prine is a wonderful example of a genuine everyday person making a music career and being successful. John Prine is an inspiration.
I had heard of John Prine for years but didn’t bother to listen to his music. Wow, my loss! I love his music and now have another favorite storyteller. A lot of artists are never truly recognized by the world until we lose them. I hope and pray John is one of those individuals. What a gift from Heaven. Hope he’s having a great time jamming with Steve Goodman and other old buddies.
Brilliant lyrics. Good to know that even someone as phenomenal as John Prine is human and makes mistakes too. Speaking as a performer myself, this is hugely comforting! RIP John
This song is pure genius. I like to sing to it over and over again when I'm down. John Prine was an open book with a keen awareness of the human spirit and heart. No One could translate this into words and song like he could. Oh, such a sad day. I will hold this songs dear to my heart until the day I die!! Hi, How're you doing?
Pretty much my life from 1973, John Prine was the voice inside my head. I was a first year MFA grad student at LSU in 1974, but I did not have any assistantship so I had a job working the night shift at the Union. John Prine played in the auditorium at the Union where I worked one of the night’s I was working there and I could hear him from time to time as I did my job, but it was small just bit and pieces. I wanted so badly to hear that man whose work spoke to me so much, but as it turned out, about all I heard was cheering and applause. He and his work have meant so much to me till this very day . I had a good life from that point on with a few John Prine moments tossed in there and I am still lucky to have stayed true to my younger MFA aspirations and I still practice my craft as a visual artist every day. I love John Prine and miss him so much.
Having listened to John Prine for more than 40 years, cleverness always was, in my very humble opinion, what stood out the brightest among those many factors that accumulated into the sum total of his songwriting brilliance. That was God's gift to John, and John's gift to the world.
I've listened for that long as well. Loved his way. His dry wit was always there, but it was heart that beat behind that that I liked the best. He touched me where I live.
1st song i heard of John's was this song last year. Now it's my turn to catch up with his music over the next 40 years while the wife writes out her grocery list. R.I.P John
"When you get done talking Ill come back down stairs , and assume the body of the person you presume who cares." Be so grateful to have John Prine, pure genius songwriter and singer!

I discovered John a few years ago....with regrets it wasn't a few decades ago. His lyrics are pure perfection. Thank you God for John. And John, if you're reading this, give humble thanks to God that he gave you so much talent and are using it to the fullest. Wow!

Prine at The Earl of Old Town, Chicago late 60s. Small club and it was packed at North and Wells. August heat in Chicago made the doors to be left open. Princes music and songs resonated into the nite, Crowds formed and blocked the street at times. Chicago PD came, but they wound up listening to Prine....those were the days. I got to see and hear him...Bless
I visited a long time friend in an extended care facility awhile back. In his youth this man was an adventurous, virile and outgoing individual. We did a lot together. It hurt to see him as he was & I cried when I left. I have been a Prine fan for nearly 45 years. Similar feelings overtake me when I watch John's videos.
Ya I play a lot of John's stuff and it "ALWAYS" get's a huge applause. I"ll never tire of lsitening to him and I pray to God he gets well after contracting the Covid Bug..

With tears in the eyes I watched this video remembering all the times I've listened to this marvelous artist and I thank him for making life better. A master at telling stories we can relate to in a plain truthful way. God bless you John, may you rest in peace brother.
I hadn't sat down and listened to you for nearly 20 years. Damn-what a waste of time that was! Thank you for the easy listening and the stories. You won't be forgotten again.
It’s been a few months now since John passed. It’s easier now. The pain and sadness recede, and the warmth and laughter remain. Thank you, John, for everything you gave us.

One of my favorite singer songwriter in the 60s I love your songs. How are you David ?
Mark says John Prine was a great singer , storyteller, and lovable jokester. He will be missed, find rest John and peace be with you and yours.

Poet🤠🤚
I hope god is enjoying his little diddies as much as I have all these years... RIP John we all miss you....
R.I.P John
Chris D a great portfolio. Do it
And that was it, the wit... Cause as much as he was on the other side of town, there was the clown... Genius
You guys are gonna hate this buuut...he was so good he shoulda been Canadian
"When you get done talking Ill come back down stairs , and assume the body of the person you presume who cares."

I discovered John a few years ago....with regrets it wasn't a few decades ago. His lyrics are pure perfection. Thank you God for John. And John, if you're reading this, give humble thanks to God that he gave you so much talent and are using it to the fullest. Wow!
I learned to travel 'to the other side of town' to avoid conflict at home from this brilliant song...
Such a great time in life he was such experience to hear from the past and present 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁 life goes on to hear from the music it's great to hear about life and ourselves in providing specific guidance and advice on words and phrases for us to hear about life
Prine at The Earl of Old Town, Chicago late 60s.

RIP John: the loss of a genius!
R.I.P. John and thanks for all the wonderful music you treated us to.
I stopped everything I was doing to just listen to this beautiful song!man!
He belongs on freakin' Mount Rushmore. Pure American; among the best we have produced.
