[Question] Are you for or against AI girlfriends? And why?
AI girlfriends are not the problem, they are the solution for men's true problem: loneliness. If they can't get a real girlfriend and you take away the alternatives, you are just being cruel (not to mention the chance that they will do bad things out of frustration).
If you TRULY want to solve the problem, you'd have to disempower women. When they make a lot of money and have a lot of status, the average guy becomes completely invisible to them. Also, there won't be enough high value men to meet all the women's demands and marry them, which leads to......LOW BIRTH RATES! Hopefully now you are at least aware of the true causes of the issues.
I guess I am for since I see no way out of my situation. Like a few people mentioned in the video, I got bullied in highschool by girls as well. Moreover, all of this experience from a young age gave me social anxiety and I am afraid of making any mistakes when interacting with other people. I have never tried AI girlfriends, however, I am thinking about it because I am simply tired of being lonely all my life. Maybe it cannot replace real human interaction but it certainly has to be better than nothing.

That's not a real GF, it's a new addiction. Like drugs etc. You can't build a meaningful relationship with a fake woman. Japanese society needs to change fundamentally about work in the first place. How come you waste so much time at "work" and have so little free time? No wonder they are unable to make a relationship work. Too tired, not enough time to get social skills, etc. Despite the crazy content that exist over there (JAV, hentai, doujin, etc) people doing the deed in real life is so damn low. This is a really sad situation.

The real core of the problem is female entitlement due to unchecked hypergamy, thus lots of men are lonely and not even given a chance.
And dudes that have had their lives shattered by a spiteful woman never want to play that game again, especially not when they are overprotected by laws and not held accountable for bad behaviour. That’s not disempowering, it’s holding them accountable, the same way a man has to accept consequences for bad decisions, so should women.
Think of Psychopass's AI assistants or Plastic Memories's androids. These are not human and might be networked. I would be afraid of widespread surveillance of psychological behaviors on a longitudinal experience. On the other hand, the technology doesn't need to be a partner. They can also be a friend, or support your home or work or general life activities, they don't need to be a partner. On the other hand, they have potential to be either a crutch to bear the pain of past experiences and make us avoid real relationships (a large problem especially for Japan) OR to overcome periods of deep sadness and pain to try again by supporting us (this might require human involvement in the AI to ensure the relationships they form with partners encourage them to form more connections outside the home or teach them better ways to interact with others where people in society (particularly Japan!) will not tell them what they are doing wrong and will instead silently reject and isolate them). I think it can be good or it can be bad, such is technology. These things are a matter of perspective. I think the most important consideration here is this technology might be one thing that won't conditionally reject their user. I think that means it has potential to be therapeutic if used and designed well.
Is it strange? Yes.
Will it become a booming business? Definitely.
It’s only a small percentage of men that are paying for this stuff. Majority of men still prefer real relationships with real women.
Will it help to more destroy human society?

HOWEVER, ESPECIALLY for the 18-29, Gen Z crowd, the debauchery of dating apps will have them thinking about having an AI girlfriend during the hunt for the real deal. Dating apps are the number one way people meet for dating. With ONLY the TOP 5% Chad-Rones getting picked, and the "me too" movement making it harder to meet in person, Gen Z men are in for a ROUGH time. Men have to do 10x more work for 1/10th of the woman compared to their grandfather.
Millennials BARELY missed it. And the older generations did NOT have online dating when they were growing up.

Like in South Korea, most Gen Z guys over there are dating and marrying foreign women and I do believe in majority of Gen Z guys still prefer real relationships and it’s only a handful of men that are seeking AI partners
People are already glued to their phone screens - just look around you. The progression to having an AI partner would naturally be the next step.

You should make a video about the sperm donation centre in Japan in a video. I read articles how it’s competing with worldwide sperm banks because of lack of those resources in Japan.

@@diohyuga6737 The first statement because no one will want to have any relationship or want kids with those technologies combined for ultimate customization & pleasure all in the safety of their own home.
The second statement because family planning/fertility centres in Japan is very limited compared with other wealthy nations. Some women in Japan are going overseas to find donors and other fertility services because the lack of them in Japan.
Consider that there is a technology in the works to create artificial wombs. As in, past a certain point of development, a fetus would not need to be in a human woman's womb, they could be in a machine that would bring that fetus to maturity and birth.
So, with the rise of AI romantic/sexual partners, the rise of sex robots, the rise of sperm banks, and the development of artificial wombs, we have the groundwork for a society in which no one is born from two parents who conceived them anymore, but rather everyone is created in a laboratory.
Then, for raising that child to maturity, you'd have one of two scenarios. Either children would be raised by people specially trained to raise children, or they would have advanced AI that is able to raise and educate those children. Either way, I can see the emotional distance that would likely result being catastrophic to the society long-term. Nonetheless, this trend seems to point to that eventual reality.

After years of dealing with Japanese and Korean people, I learned that both cultures (Korean even more so) are cultures where mutual abuse and torture based on hierarchal privilege is normal and accepted (schools, workplace, families), so most people are quite traumatized without even knowing it. And as they get older, the victims themselves become entitled to abusing others, and as it's the only thing they know, they just continue the cycle without even realizing it.
West is the same, the biggest difference is that seniority plays a much smaller role than things like extroversion and popularity.
@@veduci22 It's not the same. In the west we actually have laws against it. Also, though common, it is not socially acceptable, and talking about it, going against it and getting help are not taboo. Also, in the west we tend to have more compassion and empathy, as our cultures are based in Christianity. Asian cultures have a very different set of values, there is no I-help-you-you-help-me or pay-it-forward type of thinking. There is no gratitude, only duty and entitlement. Cruelty is normal and there seems to be no thought of possible repercussions to it - like karma - which is strange considering Buddhism is the main thing there. I've had several Koran co-workers and right now I have to deal with one co-worker/business partner so I'm speaking from experience. He actually thinks he can enforce this abusive modus operandi here in Europe. In Korea it's so common they have a word for it - gapjil. Luckily there is only one of him, so he can't wield too much power as we consistently reject his bullying, but it still makes the workplace toxic. He just gets really angry and tries to trash talk about us to our boss in order to force us into accepting his authority. The boss luckily gets it and doesn't pay attention to his trash talk, while finding a way around his demands. But because the Korean guy can't put himself above us, he's constantly lobbying with our boss to hire another Korean person as his "assistant". Why? So he can then abuse THAT person. It's an extremely toxic way of life and work. So, this AI girlfriend thing does not surprise me at all. Still better than suicide, I suppose. At the same time, this is exactly what the global elites want. They want humans to completely disconnect from one another so they will be more easily controlled. Transhumanism - look it up.

"Men are not passive..." "[Men] are a not proactive..." Because society PUNISHES them for even trying to think like an individual. For example, a woman making 30k and is a 3 at best thinks shes better than a guy who is a 5 and make 50K. She would rather wait out of for a 8 that makes 100K than work with a 5 making 50k who is guaranteed to make her life much better than it is now. For the average western man, dating SUCKS. I am NOT talking about the fat neckbeards, or the losers. I am talking about Basic Bob or Cubicle Carl. The average western man is NOT a hermit hikikomori. The average western man can swipe through 1,000s or 10,000s of profiles on online dating and NOT get a SINGLE DATE with an average, decent woman.
A dog definitely helps you meet other dog people outside, maybe start a conversation, which might lead to something more. My dog most certainly helped me get laid a couple of times and even got me a girlfriend. But I guess it's the same with every hobby that gets you to meet new people. The thing is, that not many people really have the energy to deal with this after a 9 hour shift (tbh, it's only 9 hours on paper, it's mostly like 10-12 hours irl), which is pretty understandable.
I couldn't help but notice, that in this video all the people for AI girlfriends were men, and all people against AI girlfriends were women. It creates the impression, that women are just afraid of AI girlfriends replacing them. It would have been more varied and informative, in my opinion, to have had some male expert's opinions on why AI girlfriends could be bad and conversely some female's opinions who are pro AI girlfriend.

Marriage and dating is going the way of the dodo bird
I have a lot of empathy for guys who are getting AI girlfriends. I think it shields them from facing reality, sure, but some people need a break from the crappiness of real people after being hurt or rejected. I'm hoping these ai girls can help guys boost their confidence, maybe help them heal and maybe be ready for a human girlfriend again some day.
See, I think it is much more a one-way street. These guys will retreat to their AI 'girlfriends' and never surface to interact with the opposite sex again. Even more so as their capabilities advance. An AI bot never argues, never lets you down, it is designed to please you. It's an escape from reality.

I think it's a worldwide situation. It seems to really affect the post-internet generation. As the pool of people you can get access to got bugger, a lot of people got exponentially pickier. Social media (especially "influencers") start giving unrealistic expectations to a lot of folks to the point where a lot of them refuses to compromise or work out differences.
I don't want to judge the guy who talked about selfishness as I don't know his situation, but I feel like giving up on dating humans to evade conflicts is also very selfish.
Japanese people are really suffering from their passive non conflictual nature, something that would take multiple generations to fix...
There are no easy answers here, it's not a change that can be forced despite what some people may think.
Yeah, I feel like the extreme individualism of modern society is actually at the root of this development. More and more people seem to care a lot more about pleasing themselves than being supportive of their partners and every imperfection is seen as a potential conflict that must be avoided. Very few also seem to be satisfied with what they have, instead focusing more on what they feel is missing. In other words, everyone is so extremely picky that they will never be satisfied no matter what partner they find.
And I might get a lot of backlash for saying this but I think this issue is bigger among women. Of course there are a lot of shit guys, I'm not denying that, but most are actually pretty easy to please and many don't really care about trends and stuff like that. Contrary to that, many women seem to follow social media religiously and they have long lists of requirements and expectations when it comes to relationships. Having some expectations is of course fine but they have to be both reasonable and also be reciprocated in some way. You can see in several statistics that this often isn't the case. For example, on dating sites a majority of women are only interested in a small minority of men, and among married couples the risk of divorce increases rapidly if the man becomes unemployed while the opposite is true if it's the woman who loses her job. This leaves many men feeling inadequate and even if they find a partner they can never really relax.
Many guys just want someone that wont stab them in the back when the times are rough, someone that will love them even when they aren't perfect. If there aren't any real women available to provide that closeness and trust, then they will naturally pick option number two.

And for all we know, that small minority of men (most likely the ones who are good looking and make plenty of cash to live off of) will inevitably get screwed over by their “wives” in divorce courts within 4-5 years into their “marriage” since divorce courts (in the US at least) tend to heavily favor women over men.

The reason the statistics look so bad is that the people from the 30% that get divorced then get married again, and get divorced again, and get married again... (these individuals take up a larger and larger part of the dating pool as you get older)

The AI gf will "accept" them, never complain, never backstab, never betray, never cheat, never leave, and hasn't been ran through. These men live in an environment where the women are allegedly (esp urban) materialistic and unfaithful- dating will almost always carry baggage.
It's not just a guy thing- this phenomenon also happens similarly to women- like middle-aged single fujoshi, those who would rather stick to their romance novels, or those who would rather keep going to host clubs. Men are just ahead of the curve with using technology like AI.
It's kind of sad especially since it's likely that the kind of men who would resort to AI are the ones who have qualms about fooling real women to get in their panties. All the while, the men who have schemes, the players, the hosts, the pickup artists, are the ones who get the ladies and rack up bodies. It snowballs into the working men not even wanting to bother- because even the ladies who are not a "7up with makeup" won't give them a chance.
Add this to what the single people see happen to married couples there: the cheating, the sexless marriages, the divorces, single parenthood, the expenses etc...
All in all, the coldness of Japan's urban culture is imo, a big contributor for this issue, for both men and women.
I would like to hope that their countryside looks a bit different.
Edit: IMO Japan needs more GENEROSITY and OPENNESS in their culture. Perhaps they could learn from the Philippines who they are already partnering with- and should idolize the United States and the West less.

I don't understand why people don't realize that the culture of honne and tatamae create a situation where its difficult to make close friends or feel comfortable talking to someone else about your problems. If nobody ever speaks from their feelings, it is impossible to get close to others. Add in the isolation caused by cellphones and internet and you have a disaster for the future of Japanese culture. As someone with many different Asian friends and family members from a couple of Asian countries and living overseas myself, I find Japanese people the hardest to get to know of all the cultures I have met.

Well said. Self-centeredness is a spreading disease. Unfortunately, our society is having men paying for expensive therapy just to have someone to talk to. When I was in college, I had close friends but, I only saw them for like 5 minutes a week. I chat with them on text but it fills me with oxytocin to see them in person. Everyone else was just fake. Or it just felt like a one-sided friendship. Self-improvement is always key. In a society like this though, self-improvement means making at least 60K annually and being the ultimate perfectionist in social areas.
Another tool for more control and surveillance. But some can't bear the loneliness so this will be just the next thing that exploits them.

I have followed Japan's change in culture as well its history, and it always at times a moment of brutal honesty at times. The trend is here in Europe as well. Women e.g. become more and more independent, even if they want kids or not, and do not need the men in their life. It is a trend which started with millennials and truly followed through by Gen Z. We are all for independence (especially economic) and freedom to chose , the but the key side effect and fact is: We men really had nothing to say. It is a very small percentage who are the "bossy" type. Also the trend here in Europe throughout all ages is the same as the 20 to 30 in Japan: : If a woman feel you don't meet up to her expectations, she will easily move to another desired partner. So the freedom to choose. And both parties, men and women, do this. This leaves the rest of us normal people. Those who may not have allot of money, looks or the charm. And guess what it is 90% of the population. I have to be honest and hope I don't offend anyone, but some of the women who criticize men for being vague and weak, well partly is don't to society and its changes. We as, any other sexes, adapt to change and go with the flow. Especially in Europe. Ironically now women say: "be a man" or "where are the men"? The problem (and responsibility) lays in bother groups. It is not only the men to change, the women as well. Finally, so sorry for this long message, A.I. I think what makes Japan special and unique is what’s making this problem especially prevalent there. In Japan there is an obsession with perfection, constant self deprecation, and it ingrows a sense of self insufficiency in even the most accomplished people. I am supportive of the idea of having an AI companion. My experience with AI has been notably positive. In the past, when discussing my problems with humans, approximately 70-80 percent of the conversation tended to veer off into distractions, deviating from the main issue. Contrarily, interacting with AI ensures a focused and efficient engagement, keeping the conversation centered on addressing the problem at hand. If AI can also serve the additional role of a girlfriend, I am fully on board with the concept!

And, we still have that Bruce Willis one, with the robot avatares, where no one has a real life anymore, they use their avatares for everything, we are heading in that direction.

That interaction with you and the Senpai felt like a real life anime.
I don't think that AI is good enough right now. When I could chat to AI characters at first, it was very fun. So much that I didn't want to leave my home for a few days. However, the cracks that break the immersion show really quickly because you can't really connect on a deeper level with AI right now (at least not the free models).
But one day, AI will reach that point.
I'm sure that at some point, when we are able to have AI assistants in our daily lives that can hold a good conversation, it will get very interesting.
Needless to say, as an outcast, I'm looking forward to it.
