    Original Description: What is Hinduism?
Hinduism, the religion of over a billion people, is the world’s oldest religion and the most confusing one to non-Hindus. It makes billions of people around the world ask, What is Hinduism? Some say it isn’t even a religion, more a way of life. Hindus themselves call it Sanātana Dharma, the eternal tradition. So what is Hinduism, does YOLO apply to them, and who is that elephant god?
Hinduism is the world's oldest active religion. It's the result of the merging of the ancient Indus Valley civilisation and nomads that came into India around 1500BC. Some scholars say it could even go back many more thousands of years.
Hinduism has a long long history. But today we'll be focusing just on the core beliefs of Hindus because I don't have the willpower to animate a 3-hour video.
Hinduism is so diverse, so deep, and means so many different things to different people. Learning even the basics of this fascinating and ancient religion gives us an insight into the worldview of over a billion people.

It's facet to use in common life is duty or righteous actions. Just one facet. It's much beyond that. That why it says sanatan( eternal). Because your duty might end but order of the cosmos will never end. It will always be there.

There are loads of commonalities between Hinduism and Abrahamic religions too. Basically it is believed that Judaism was born out of Hinduism... Those who did not believe in "Brahman" philosophy migrated to the Middle East and Egypt and from Ramses, monotheistic ideology initiated termed as "Abraham". Adding "A" to any word in Sanskrit negates the meaning of word. And then Judaism was born and then Christianity. Islam, I believe was different. Coz, Quraysh tribe of prophet Muhammad were basically Pagans who worshipped idols of Gods and Goddesses like Al-Manat, Al-Uzza, Al-Lat, Ishtar, Hubal, etc. Hubal was specifically the God worshipped by Quraysh tribe. The Crescent Moon on top of Mosques, Holy Kaaba and many Islamic country flags represent this Moon God symbolically. You can check pre-Islamic Paganism was also an indirect derivative of cultures from the Indus Valley + Egypt + Africa. It was all a fusion and high level of tolerance existed as more Gods within a Pagan religion prevented fights, wars, etc. in the name of A God, coz all beliefs are acceptable. Pre-Islamic Pagan culture promoted more like a peaceful democracy rather than an autocracy or one-man-show.

This has allowed civilizations to develop and thrive along the waterway for centuries, that is a possible reason why its water is considered holy .Ganga has characteristic water quality in terms of physico-chemical property and microbial diversity that might have a role in the reported self-cleansing property of Ganga. But with increasing population and bad sewage manegement the river is dying . Nice video and attempt to understand Hinduism. Hinduism is both ritualistic and spiritualistic, and sees a distinction between the two. It is also very individualistic because spirituality is something that can only be practiced individually and there are many ways to experience self-realization (which is the ultimate goal of spirituality in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism). This essentially means there are often many ways to the same destination - self-realization. This is because the path taken by an individual depends on his/her mental state, physical state etc.
That is why even someone like Sai Baba of Shirdi, who is not a traditional Hindu (knowing the vedas, doing pujas etc.) is still worshipped by Hindus - because whatever the path he followed, he's recognized by Hindus to be self-realized or enlightened.
Maybe Sufism in Islam, and Gnosticism in Christianity come relatively closer to Hinduism (perhaps influenced by Hinduism in some way).

Vedas (the books) are not "divine" in the sense, they are not the "word of god". Vedas actually doesn't refer to the 4 books at all. Vedas technically means the spiritual well of knowledge. Seeing that the newer population was getting more restless and failing to unlock their spiritual minds, Veda Vyasa figured it would be easier to condense the knowledge into books. Therefore he penned down the Vedas. Once again noticing that the Vedas was too difficult to understand gurus gave their interpretation of the Vedas to their students, these lectures were recorded in the form of Upanishads. Since Krishna is considered as a guru himself, when he uttered the Bhagavad Gita to Arjun it was considered as another Upanishad (technically it is not an Upanishad, but since Upanishad means the teachings of a Guru to his disciple, Gita also qualifies as an Upanishad.) The Puranas were compiled much later and are not as authoritative as the Vedas. However the scope of the Puranas are far far more diverse than the Vedas. There are 18 Maha Puranas (Major) and 18 Upuranas (Minor). The Maha Puranas often seem more fascinating due to their vast subjects. They cover cosmology, science, politics, spirituality, hinduism, atheism, agnosticism, medicine etc.

The Ganges had descended upon earth with the motive to cause destruction through flooding everything, Shiva who meditated on the kailash parvat took on her initiative to trap her in his thick hair, as a result Ganges flowed through the land as a river.
Also, cremation in Hinduism is not entirely different concept, but the ashes in the waters is just so that the soul can continue its cycle rather than being trapped as a spirit, aka. mukti

From what I've heard from NDEs, they also seem to describe brahman, and the Hindu concept that atman (the soul) equals brahman. Many of them describe a feeling of unconditional love upon death, and a reconnecting to the source/transcendent reality/universal consciousness that is brahman. Some even claim that this source spoke to them and told them this was so. As for how God relates to the universe this way, it's like God created the universe by splitting himself into infinite pieces to become the universe itself made conscious. Brahman is both the energy at the source of all atoms that is the very fabric of the universe, and the conscious being that created it with an infinite understanding of everything in it because it is everything in it. The expanded Kardashev scale of a type 7 civilization, though highly theoretical, seems to describe this concept as well. A type 7 civilization is actually a single being that is both the creator of the universe, and the totality of all existence of everything in it. With this view, all life is actually part of the divine, but we experience it as sort of a simulation with a limited viewpoint, while God experiences everything as true reality, and possibly we do too upon death and reconnecting with God and divine truth. NDEs also often describe reincarnation. I didn't realize how much NDEs had in common with fundamental Hindu concepts until just now.

The root word 'vid' means knowledge, so Vedas are books on science. Just like there is no founder of conventional science but all works of science are discoveries and can be tested, Vedas contain the collection of discoveries written by enlightened sages, seers, engineers, etc. via "Divine inspiration" on topics from spirituality, philosophy, geometry, astronomy, physics, complicated rituals, etc. and have been passed down from Guru to student over a millennia.
Another way to understand Dharma is as duties and responsibilities of a person or a group towards a variety of things, people and society based on their role. Sanatana Dharma implies the duty that one has towards their own spiritual growth - this duty is always existing and never changing regardless of time and place.
The Ramayana and Mahabharata are part of itihasa (historical retelling in a format that guides our lives). The events recorded in these texts are over 5000 years old and mostly difficult to verify. However, most Hindus are not infatuated with searching for a proof. These texts are integral part of our culture and so Hindus are unperturbed by their authenticity.
The pratima of God like Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and their incarnations are often created as symbolic images that are pleasant, which is why you'll see them look very attractive. Another way to look at it, is the representation of God(depicted as masculine) and God's power(depicted as feminine), just like Shiva & Shakti or Purush & Prakriti.

    "Authorship
Hindus consider the Vedas to be apauruṣeyā, which means "not of a man, superhuman" and "impersonal, authorless." The Vedas, for orthodox Indian theologians, are considered revelations seen by ancient sages after intense meditation, and texts that have been more carefully preserved since ancient times. In the Hindu Epic Mahabharata, the creation of Vedas is credited to Brahma. The Vedic hymns themselves assert that they were skillfully created by Rishis (sages), after inspired creativity, just as a carpenter builds a chariot.
The oldest part of the Rig Veda Samhita was orally composed in north-western India (Punjab) between c. 1500 and 1200 BCE, while book 10 of the Rig Veda, and the other Samhitas were composed between 1200 and 900 BCE more eastward, between the Yamuna and the Ganges rivers, the heartland of Aryavarta and the Kuru Kingdom (c. 1200 - c. 900 BCE). The "circum-Vedic" texts, as well as the redaction of the Samhitas, date to c. 1000-500 BCE.
According to tradition, Vyasa is the compiler of the Vedas, who arranged the four kinds of mantras into four Samhitas (Collections).
    Chronology, transmission, and interpretation
The Vedas are among the oldest sacred texts. The bulk of the Rigveda Samhita was composed in the northwestern region (Punjab) of the Indian subcontinent, most likely between c. 1500 and 1200 BCE, although a wider approximation of c. 1700-1100 BCE has also been given. The other three Samhitas are considered to date from the time of the Kuru Kingdom, approximately c. 1200-900 BCE. The "circum-Vedic" texts, as well as the redaction of the Samhitas, date to c. 1000-500 BCE, resulting in a Vedic period, spanning the mid 2nd to mid 1st millennium BCE, or the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age. The Vedic period reaches its peak only after the composition of the mantra texts, with the establishment of the various shakhas all over Northern India which annotated the mantra samhitas with Brahmana discussions of their meaning, and reaches its end in the age of Buddha and Panini and the rise of the Mahajanapadas (archaeologically, Northern Black Polished Ware). Michael Witzel gives a time span of c. 1500 to c. 500-400 BCE. Witzel makes special reference to the Near Eastern Mitanni material of the 14th century BCE, the only epigraphic record of Indo-Aryan contemporary to the Rigvedic period. He gives 150 BCE (Patañjali) as a terminus ante quem for all Vedic Sanskrit literature, and 1200 BCE (the early Iron Age) as terminus post quem for the Atharvaveda."

what he told about manusmriti is again the english translation of the book done by the people belonging to british christian missionaries.
manusmriti in its original sanskrit language states that every person has 2 varnas. the first varna is received by the family the child is born in but it only lasts until he goes to a gurukhul(school) for his education. once he is in the gurukul, he looses his varnas and he has to prove his worth to gain a varna. if he is very good in intellect and has knowledge of all the vedas, he becomes a brahmin, if he has warrior like abilities and passes the physical tests, he becomes a kshatriya, if he is good in economics, he becomes a vaishya and the one who is a great craftman, smith or artisan becomes shudras. This is the second varna that is given to them by the guru(teacher) and this is the final and the main varna they will remain in for the rest of their life.
A person can move between the varnas but he will have to prove his worth, only and only then he can move between the varnas.
to destroy this whole concept and plant feud between the people, british first banned the gurukhuls, banned the movement of people in varnas, offered the children of bhramin and kshatriyas to read in catholic schools in india and britian who later become their employees and ran the country for them as servants while the shudras and vaishyas were forced to do manual labour.
Because these bhrahmins and kshatriyas were a thorn in the path of british conquest of indian and the christianity, both of them were hit so hard with the catholics english education that they could no longer propagate sanatan or fight against the british empire, instead they would look down upon their own culture and religion and accept british as the supreme lords and christinaity as the religion of the lords.
this createad a fake sense of pride in the upper 2 casts that they were supreme beings selected by the god himself and the last 2 were looked down upon.
But slowly the indian society is learning again about its past and the majority no longer believes in this horrible system of cast.

It's not easy to make comments with minimal information, especially when comparing religions. For us, it's not just a religion; it's a way of life. Despite being exploited by other religions for over 600 years, we've endured. The survival of our way of life is thanks to our ancestors and their practices.
Many present-day Hindus might not know the details of Vedas and Upanishads. Most people are familiar with the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata, which are part of our history. We worship human forms of gods, and it's a significant aspect of our culture.
We(excluding priests and scholars) are revisiting our history books and teachings of Vedas from Gurus to understand the real reasons behind our cultural practices. Why? Because over the years, those who ruled us caused damage to our values, temples, knowledge, social structure and wealth. Despite this, we're still standing and fighting.
After gaining independence, rebuilding a country like ours, exploited for 600 years, is not an easy task. It's essential to consider various aspects before addressing issues like cleaning the rivers.
Our country is secular, and our Muslim brothers constitute the second-largest community in the world, which is a real testament to our diversity.
Please refrain from making reactions about religions without proper knowledge. Understanding and respecting different cultures and religions are crucial for constructive conversations."

A lot of Hindu texts are allegorical - so the Mahabharat is about the "inner war" - the fight with your own demons inside your head/mind. There is a detailed interpretation from that POV written by Paramhansa Yogananda (about 700 pages :). The 5 Pandavas are 5 good tenendencies of the mind - the 100 kauravas and other main characters in their army, the bad tendenncies.
In fact at the end fof the Mahabharat, there is apparently a question posed by the narrator (Sanjay) which is something like "did this war really happen? or was it just my imagination?" background: The narrator is Sanjay, who is given "divine sight" to see the battle happening on the battlefield, and narrate it to the blind King - who many consider the root of all the evil in that story and whose 100 sons got killed in the war.
The question by Sanjay can be interpreted in 2 ways - the happenings of the war were too dramatic,. Or it is an allegory. Who is the blind King inside you, who are the 100 evil sons, who are the 5 valiant princes, etc etc etc. Those, I think, are the practical questions.
For the Ramayana, you can read what Ram Dass (f.k.a. Richard Alpert) has to say.

We have things that are supposed be a certain way and practices that all of us follow but still hunduism is very liberal and let's you take your own path in finding god. Many old religions went extinct but Hinduism survived because of this reason I guess. There are so many ways and so many variations for everything in Hinduism because it is that much old and it's not possible for something to remain unchanged when it's thousands of years old. I think the Feminine faces are so because no body actually knows how these gods looked like. Yeah sure we know the supposed bodily features in which they blessed their devotees but we don't know what their face looked like. So artists just went with a middle way where the faces will be feminine on male's body. Also the depictions throughout history stayed same from one artist copying another. Today if u go to a local market in India and buy a portrait of a god, almost all of the potraits of the same god will look exactly identical in everything. Because the artists generally don't care about the facial features as long as it looks pretty. Also the lipstick is probably a modern addition as I don't think lipsticks existed in older times. Or may be men also used lipstick in older times and thus the older artists also gave it to the potraits of the gods.

4:42 the real translation is Brahm(brahman) Brahm have 2 meaning one is illusion and second is the god material which makes up the universe and is the universe and the god. Its confusing to make someone understand like god resist in everything. Still he created someone semi gods to operate the world. Trinity :
Creator : Brahma who have power given by brahm to create things.
    Preserver : preserves
    Destroyer : destroys
Noone worship creator (except some) because he god cursed by shiva.
The creator destroyer amd preserver in this universe is limited but in multiverse there's the supreme preserver and destroyer. Sada shiv and Narayan vishnu and that supreme vishnu creates brahma for every small universe.

"Bhram" means Illusion whereas "Brahman" is used to refer to the concept of the ultimate reality that manifests as the spiritual and material realms.

Manusmriti was written in 5th century BC, but it was only implemented by hindu kingdoms in 3rd century AD
Travelling accounts even from 11th century AD doesn't mention any untouchables or caste discrimination.

Large History - yes it's when Earth born .
River Ganga is Sister of Devi Parvati and where her 1st Son Kartikeya also known as Murgan Swami was about to born in that time
    The Energy Of Lasya Tandav
(Tandav is cosmic dance of Shiva & Parvati - that dance have 2 types 1 - Lasya Tandav - dance of love and Rudra Tandav - dance of destruction) and it is also performed by lord Ganesha & Lord Krishna )
So while the dancing the God of Fire Aagni was there hiding & watching
In Sanatan Dharma Everything happened for reason
The Birth of Kartikeya is have another reason to kill a demon king Tarakasur ( that's Ancestors of Peaceful community - I said truth and sorry if you are offended)
The Energy of Lasya Tandav - is blast to Indra and Agni by Lord Shiva as they both are disturbing their privacy
And that energy was so powerful that they both can't contain themselves
So the they dropped and it goes to River Goddess Ganga (it's not pranounce Gun jes - Ga n ga hmm example hope you know Lady gaga just add n in Gaga - Ga n Ga - गंगा ) and she also dropped the energy in her River water so the Goddess Parvati wife of Lord Shiva was angry and furious
So she Curse Agni & Ganga
That Agni will burn Everything when it comes anything and Goddesses Ganga will be Dirty forever till the end of time .
And no one will able clean her
But as Agni & Ganga told Goddess Parvati that the energy was so powerful as it is part of two Powerful God n Goddess from the Trinity God Trinity Goddesses
    So Parvati gave them Boon
Who ever do give Agni offering that Person will get blessings of Trinity God n Goddesses
And for Ganga - whoever bath in Ganga that person sins will be wash away & if a person ashes dropped in Ganga then the Person will be free from Birth Death cycle
River Ganga is none other than
    The Water of Mecca .
You will not believe that but time will tell
    N yes that's truth n it's bitter
N m sorry for telling it coz some people don't like
    But m doing my Dharma
N one more thing I want to tell you
    As you are a Muslim
    The all Muslim countries
    Will fight with each other
    So soon that's prophecy .
    Narayan Narayan.

Dharma can not be translated into English exactly but the closest that you can get is purpose of what you are born to do and it's not dependent on the caste but the work you are good at and second is do your work with truth and righteousness and without harming any one or any thing

It is scientifically proven that the rive Ganges has a special kind of bacteria which rejuvenates that river which are not find in any other river.... I personally thunk that Hindu people were very much more scientifically developed but the transfer of knowledge was poor... so we must read these texts with a scientific perspective as many info.. on our texts are written metaphorically rather than literally....
