Quick Disclaimer that i removed from the video. This performance video will cover items that I think you should get if you are going for maximizing speed on a bolt on platform. If you ask me, performance also has to do with handling, breaking power, and other segments that people seem to overlook. If you ask which I already did a video on, Big break kit and sway bars have been some of the best performance mods for me. For the sake of this video though, I am only cover top 3 mods that will increase your performance speed wise.
Have you thought about getting a jdm battery cover that goes on the right side of the engine bay, conceptZ sells them and i think it’ll clean it up your engine bay just a bit more!
For the intake I highly recommend the k&n Typhoon cold air intake, it’s good cause you can make it into a short ram when it rains if needed. And also estimated average hp gain is 9.5. Also it whistles superrr loud and changes the sound of your car by a lot.
It’s hard for my top 3. But here are my top 5 5- light weight driveshaft 4- longtube heads 3- fully HKS exhaust 2- ported plenums 1- 75MM TB I know some of my mods only gave me big gains cause I upgraded things around it. Like a cold air intake with a plenum spacer etc. But a power steering pully delete gave me a better throttle response with a faster rpm rev 🤷🏽♂️
@@B1NO_O I ran it without a tune for a while and honestly it ran like shit. I was running super lean, and my gas mileage dropped like crazy. Once I got it tuned EVERYTHING changed. But then again, I waited till I had my FBOs to get tuned. Yes, you can run ported plenums, but you want noticed any gains till you get tuned.
Thank you so much bro, I have been a 2005 g35 manual coupe owner for a year now and I’m finally able to start modding and these videos are perfect, keep up the great work brotha!
great video man, but i will say, anyone wanting to chase power on a VQ, you gotta go forced induction. The price is steep, but skipping the FBO and jumping to boost will make the biggest change. we all know fbo on these engines can make 300-350 whp at most, but even the stock engines can handle 425 whp+ depending on the tune, can’t leave this option out:)
Forced induction would definitely make the biggest impact and if you can find a used kit you might be able to save some money. We also consider tho the problems that may come with boosting your car and some people are not willing to go through those problems
@@BeDistinct no secret boost isn’t for the light hearted, had a gasoline leak, oil leak, and a problem wit the car starting all within a week after the turbo and tune. all easy fixes and things most can handle with the help of some knowledgeable sources and some basic wrenching skills. Never shy away from scary problems, it can really make a difference in the confidence you have with your car:)
How’d the kinetix plenum treating you? I have the other kinetixs that’s a plastic material but been thinking of switching jus heard some bad thing before
@@dolescent3703 that’s what’s up I went the cheap way at first , I only suggest good coil overs so you can drift/track the car and adjust it as needed VQ GANG 😎✊🏽
can u make a video on how your car is holding all that power bc I have a 2005 g35 coupe rev up manual and I wanna have a reliable build motor has 61k miles
I would but honestly there isn’t much to it. I switch my oil every 3,000 miles or 2 months whatever comes first. As far as the engine stay put together, I’m not sure, I just hope everyday it doesn’t blow. I don’t beat on it every day also. But yea I’m kinda surprised it’s been lasting recently
the intake usually stays cold, if you want to decrease heat going into your engine, try a heat shield, but for heat wrap, it works best on headers and cats
It may help a little bit but most of the hot air comes from the intake sucking the hot air in the engine bay not necessarily the tube heating the air inside
I did the OEM airbox w/ K&N filter +Z-Tube for intake. Kinetix upper manifold works as a ported upper plenum AND plenum spacer for like $400 so I have that on my list also. Exhaust I'll either do ISR/TOMEI or HKS(REP or Real)/Motordyne.
I've been wanting to get test pipes but fuuuck worried abt the smell. I don't have to worry abt the emissions cus i live in middle of nowhere thankfully tho. Did ur test pipes smell bad?
I was worried about it and ima be 100%. When I first got test pipes it did smell. But I’m not sure what happened but after a couple months, other the car burned the pipes enough or maybe I just got used to it but I kind couldn’t smell it anymore
i’m running a single turbo kit and running 426 whp reliability, i daily the car and other than problems that come with dialing in the boost system, haven’t had any issues with the turbo set up itself!
A turbo can give you a wide range of boost and depending on how much boost you run, will depend the power you will run. If you are running stock internals people recommend staying under 400whp. Some people say 450 and under. I’ve been currently on 420-445 whp range for about 5 months and it’s been good so far.
