Having one fruit user wouldn't really disprove much of anything. He's asked Buggy to follow him since the beginning of his journey anyway. He seems to either not care about fruit status or minimize their use, not completely against it.

So Shanks might just simply build a crew without any special restriction, but ends up unlucky by having no DF user in the end. Also, we can't be too sure about the no DF user crew thing because he has a lot of crews, and most of their power are still unknown.

The thing with the Elder Star's 'normal' names is not surprising... Remember how Zoro called out Luffy for calling Cavendish 'Kevin', stating that people used to name their children like that in the past?
With the Elder Stars being a relic of the past, it makes sense for them to have relic of the past names as well... like Ethan or Markus...
But those are their family names, their own first names are the planet names

The more we know about shank's family the more we understand his relationship with the celestial dragons and we see if he still has connections and privileges with them
Shanks gained an audience with the Five Elders which wouldn't be possible for a pirate, even an emperor. He most certainly gained the audience because of his heritage.
He has the power of his heritage but he is not evil because his family member was shown as a person who doesn't like strong person helping poor and Shanks is opposite of that he takes weak captain under his fleet to make them survive in New World
something I saw when I was reading chapter 434 was that shanks said he grew up in the west blue and that his hometown was in the west blue which I though was really weird

I knew why Shanks was respected even by the Marines. When Sengoku said "just bcs its you" it was already suspicious even before Shanks meeting the Gorosei. People respect him not because of his strength but his bloodline. This makes Greenbull encounter with Shanks much more sense since GB respect the Celestial Dragon
People respect him by strength as well. Like they gave him a bounty of 4 bil so they’re still after him dead or alive. Gorosei even stated that if shanks is pushed or angered he is too much to handle and can’t be controlled.
Yeah I just rewatched the scene where Shanks meets with the Gorosei and knowing what we know now the wording the Gorosei uses in that scene is very telling. They talk to him like an equal and someone they've met numerous times. When that scene dropped initially I figured it was due to their respect of Shanks and his role as a peace-keeper, but the wording the Gorosei use is interesting.
This one line said by one of the Gorosei especially feel like has gained a lot more importance: "Given your status, you should stay away from politics". It sounds like both general advice to one with royal blood and fear that should Shanks decide to get involved in any politics, his lineage as a celestial dragon could be exposed and damage the WG. Shanks is like a secret problem child for the WG.

I think Figarland is probably a somewhat secretive name even if the family is publicly known. "This is the family that ruled the island we erased from history along with a pirate crew that will not be named." I imagine there is knowledge about him, but probably the same level of knowledge as the now former three emperors. As in, the public knows about them, but only so much as the government lets them know.
The government wants it to be only in living memory only so it could be forgotten next era. The gorosei and Imu are all immortal and don’t have the same sense of time as we do. Cipher Pol 0 might be the only people who have clearance to even know about Figarland and a murder panther is one of their agents
I really like how Shanks is the anthesis to what a Celestial Dragon is despite by all means being a “god”. He’s willing to get humiliated and laughed at (i.e. Higuma spills booze on him) whereas the Celestial Dragons are all about pride, looking down on others, and projecting an image of being “gods”. He also uses his overwhelming strength to protect those that cannot defend themselves (i.e. his fleet) instead of sitting at the top of the world and watching others suffer. He also views himself as equal to most people and would happily sit in a tiny bar in the East Blue and drink cheap booze with his mates and a village boy rather than living in luxury atop the Red Line.
He is one of the most human characters despite being a “god” by virtue of his birth, which means that he becomes living evidence that Celestial Dragons are as human as the rest of us. It really shows what impact Roger had on him and how nurture trumps nature, and he’s an example of how the Celestial Dragons could choose to be good people if given the right upbringing.
I really hope that he doesn’t turn out to be evil since that would undo all of his and circle back to the whole thing of “blood is everything” where if you are born to be evil, you’ll always remain that way, no matter who you’re raised by and what values you are taught. Thankfully most evidence seems to contradict this since he protected Luffy after Wano rather than killing him (like the Gorosei would have wanted), and because of the fact that he gave a member of the enemy of the Celestial Dragons (the D family) the key to defeating them (the Gomu Gomu No Mi).

Astigmatism makes things look blurry and you can't make out the details very well and, since Oda loves drawing so much, he might very well have made vague depictions of Imu and the five elders to avoid making them when his vision was not at 100% causing him to either miss or botch some key details of their design
With the will of D becoming very prominent in the story as of late, you can't help but make some comparisons with what's going on with Garp and Coby, with everything else that's happened recently. We're probably going to be saying goodbye to Gee-san soon 😢

@@tomvlogs8463 I don't know if he will, that was somewhat my point. The marine's are in tight spot on Hachinosu, even if they do have a lot of capable fighters. The other blackbeards haven't even shown up to the fight yet. I could see Garp sacrificing himself to let Coby and the others get away. I feel like it'd be a pretty big final reveal to end this very lore heavy arc on, and tie in the other themes of the will being passed on. As well as what would be last nail in the coffin for Luffy to go to war with Teach. Or not, who knows!

Imu's remark of the lulusia vicinity to use to flying weapon may gave us a hint of the possible limitations of said weapon. Its very powerful, but has a short range. May be due to fuel or another reason.

It's a simple idea of a weakness for an all powerful weapon never used before in the series until just now. Wouldn't call that a reach...
@@jd2k9 why does it need a weakness? There’s a reason these weapons have been feared and sought for 800 years straight. It’d be very stupid if the entire weapon can be nullified simply by stepping a couple of feet outside of its range.

Otherwise, how would you stop it?...it would literally be unstoppable. As soon as its launched its game over for everyone. 2. By range, the original comment was referencing to the distance the machine can travel, the devastation it causes is not something that can be negated by "stepping a few feet out of range" unless you can step a few feet off an island before it destroys it and somehow survive the blast radius.

That’s part of why you calculate a weapon’s effective radius, to know where it is safe to be when the weapon is being used. You would be fine stepping a few feet outside of the weapon’s range, if it has such strict limitations like you think. You picked the absolute worst point to push back on. And the weapon is obviously not indestructible, but it should definitely be close, as why else would the Gorosei be so confident that they can end an 800 year long conflict just by getting the weapon working? How are they gonna end the rebellion across the globe using this weapon, when according to you it has such a short range that they had to choose a nearby island just to use it? This is a stupid hill to die on, homie. You had an idea, and it did not stand up to criticism, so just drop it.

Viz's translation of Imu's text this chapter is very telling. For starters, they've chosen to translate it as "Vegapunk's creation. The mother frame!" Which kind of goes against the idea that Vegapunk created an eternal fire fuel source.
I hope that the revelation of Garling Figarland and who the Figarlands are will finally put the "Shanks is evil" theory to rest.

Based off what we got from shanks it’s pretty clear he isn’t evil unless he was faking his entire character this entire time and somehow does a whole 180 and acts like a completely different character cause based off his character alone he’s too noble of a guy he really looks out for those who can’t look out for themselves he’s basically part of that small group of pirates that are actually decent people
The five elders mention that the test with the flying weapon will change how they handle egghead. since lulusia was successfully annihilated with the weapon, its possible that this will be used on Egghead with Saturn arriving, not to fight, but to see first hand as the god of science what the weapon can truly do with his own eyes
That whole 'Vegapunk made the fuel for the weapon' theory was where I was lying. I assumed vegapunk didn't specifically make the weapon itself. But he played a part in making it work. The idea that he synthetized a power source makes tons of sense.

I guess Laws is the only character who can undo the immortality of Imu. If his ope ope no mi can grant immortality, it may take it away also. Thats probably the reason for his plot armor to defeat Imu in the end

I'd like to point out that the Warrior God of Justice was the one who pointed out to Imu that "there are a lot of people living in Lulusia". Perhaps a coincidence, but maybe he has a sense of justice that conflicts with Imu.
1:24 Shanks knocking many people on Whitbeard's ship was shown to be a power. So having a name shouldn't have been odd.
Honestly, if Imu does have immortality, wouldn't Law and his fruit be the only thing that can take that away from Imu and effectively, defeat/kill them?
Eternal Youth, doesn't stop one from death, only stops them from aging. Imu can therefore still be killed in battle, just never of old age.
Also law fruit can change swap body so maybe doflamino was trying to takeover Im body yet his fruit doesn’t provide immortality well technically because the surgical called eternal youth
@@chilpeeps but swapping bodies with imu wouldn't have killed law in the process, so that probably wasn't it.
He also may be taking a break to help with the Gear 5 animation. They’ve been working on it for a while now and the episode will probably drop during his break or right when he gets back.

I bumped into your channel a year and a half ago and it literally got me back into one piece. Today is the first day I watched the anime release caught up!!!! Started rewatching in February of 2022.
I love the comparison of Imu and Stelly. I think once Imu’s face is revealed they will have more of a maniacal/exaggerated face similar to one of Stelly’s dramatic faces 😅

It's interesting how we see Imu's behavior mirror that of the Celestial Dragons. Considering how selfish and inhuman he appears to be, maybe he kept them around because they were similar to him, and hated the D because they didn't like his choice of entertainment. Maybe Imu just wanted some friends?

I sincerely hope that Shanks is able to speak to garland before the series ends. Also, there arent multiple moons, what we thought were moons in ohara are likely planets. Thats why the moon is always referred to as a singular

I reread thriller bark and after the Nothing Happened part i noticed Kuma said that Luffy has good friends and that the expected that since he is dragon's son( Kuma was a friend of Dragon and ivankov is also very loyal to dragon) . Oda's god tier forshadowing as always
I had a thought about BB.. the flashback drawwing where he's looking at the (crescent) moon may not indicate that he's upset because he cannot sleep, he may be crying at the moon because it reminds him of Saint Figarland Garling.
Oda rarely seems to draw the moon as a crescent and that's only if BB is connected to Rocks..
Maybe imu prefered the proximity because using the ancient weapon requires a lot of energy/haki that would easily drain imu. This may also pertain to the weapon requiring some power from imu
I'm still curious about Kaku's apparant unavailability during Reverie. All ex CP9 members are present yet Kaku was only seen during the initial Shirahoshi kidnapping incident yet goes missing afterwards.

Anyone else notice that the back of the world throne is shown as black in the middle of it? And Whenever Imu shows up it is shown as having a white back? Also noticed in the most recent chapter that the Gorosei are talking in a room with a black floor with white spots. As soon as Imu is shown in the next panel that floor is shown as not black . I get the impression that Imu is the black coloring in the throne room. Like Imu stays in that state until they have to manifest? Something having to do with shadow or maybe being in another dimension? Go back on check every instance of Imu getting shown and you see the walls and the back of the throne being shown black, but when Imu is shown those parts look different.

I think Imu 100% aimed for Sabo. Sabo was injured and due to recent events Lulucia was the closest save place for him to flee to. Sabo made himself the most wanted man alive and nuking Lulucia, a nation starting to spark a revolution anyways, was the most promising attempt of getting rid of him.
If you ask me, the weapon they used on Lulucia doesn't have a range limit. Imu just didn't want to spill their true intentions.
There were 3 possible islands he could have ended up on. I don't think Imu hit Lulusia because he knew Sabo was there. He didn't know where he was. Vivi also went to an island that means "Like Red Hair"

For quite a while, I have thought that Oda's art was degrading whenever anything was detailed, so the fact he had eye problems for a while explains that really well. To be honest now that Oda is going to have better eyesight, I wonder how much better his art will get. Since he must have struggled with drawing a lot because of seeing twice the lines, he now may be able to draw faster not having to make sure he isn't drawing in the wrong spot. Tbh at this point, all I wish for Oda is a long life and good health
The stress from that probably added onto his need for breaks to keep him healthy.
I would give him a year long break, heck 2 years 3 years idc. He deserves it, he's like family at this point and I want one piece to be untrusted and completed at his leisure.

I would actually argue that Lulusia was chosen because it is 1) close to Marie-Jois 2) one of the rebelling nations; so in theory Imu deduced that Sabo would go there specifically as he was injured and losing a lot of blood - he needed a safe place to receive medical attention at least in the form of first aid.

i think thats a bit of a stretch, it seems from context that what they refer to in the god valley incident was a 2v1 of garp and roger against rocks himself, not agaisnt the whole crew, as said above they probably had crew/fleet alongside them, so people like rayleigh and whoever else was on the marines at the time fighting whitebeard kaido big mom and they disbanded once rocks was defeated(which mirrors somewhat some real world pirate history), but your guess is as good as mine, i just dont see why the other big shots would go unmentioned unless they werent an issue.

We keep hearing about Shanks and his family background but what about Buggy? We still know nothing about Buggy’s family or how he meet his crew, I would love if Oda gave us some insight into our favorite clown emperor. Also I wish Oda a speedy recovery.

Buggy comes from a family of clowns that sailed the grandline in order to entertain people. After buggy tries to join the family business and gets disowned he starts his new life at rogers ship.

The thing that makes me think Whitebeard didn’t get his scars from Garling is that in the same scene where Shanks and Whitebeard meet Shanks says that he’s from the West Blue, so if Whitebeard had any notion that Shanks and Garling were related he’d probably call him out on it.
I don't think the exact location of God Valley was Ever mentioned, by exact I mean which part of the ocean it exists in
But Shanks was found by Roger inside a treasure chest in God Valley tho... Maybe he just grew up most of his childhood in West Blue? Even then he's mostly seen in Roger's ship at the age of 9 alongside Buggy. Or maybe God Valley is in West Blue

Weirdly, Imu picking Lulusia because it's close is something Luffy would do. Not that he'd destroy an island to test a weapon, but more like this...

I don't think Mjosgard is dead just yet. A reformed Celestial Dragon is such a big thing so I think he'll either be rescued so he can do something important later or relay some important information before he dies. I personally think that the reason why Kuma is going back to Mary Geoise is to save Mjosgard
I'd say both parts, Mjosgard being saved and Kuma's reason to return could be 2 things each
Combined possibilities: as you said, Kuma returning to save Mjosgard (maybe it was his turn with Kuma? Otherwise idk why Kuma would save him though)
2nd option Mjosgard: maybe Leo and Sai return to save him?
2nd option Kuma: an ancient robot randomly (?) decided to climb the red line, maybe a similar command was used on Kuma and him being a cyborg(/robot by now?) would possibly explain how he could be controlled by an own command like that

One thing that's bothered me since getting the information that shanks was found in a treasure chest in God Valley (or close to God Valley anyway), in chapter 434, Shanks mentioning the wine that he gave to Whitebeard was from the same place that he grew up in, which is a wine from his hometown is strange. Does this mean that when Roger and co found shanks, they dropped him off somewhere for a bit in the West Blue, and then picked him up later, or is there something i'm missing?
They probably kept him somewhere as he was a baby they couldn't take him with them
So is Haki somewhat genetic? Seems a lot of the best haki users are related to powerful haki users. I get that might not be the biggest part of what makes it but also it's a trend at the least.
Sabo came froma family line of royals that had no fighting prowess and yet has some of the strongest armament we have seen in the series, conquerers is likely a genetic trait but through trial and hard ships like sabo and koby - strong armament and observation can be achieved without a good family line
It's just like how talents work IRL. A child from a good actor and actress might have a good talent for acting. But it doesn't mean they will 100% have a genius actor/actress child. And an acting talent isn't only exclusive for an actor/actress families. Someone random out there might be a genius in acting despite being a child of a nobody.
So in haki's case, someone from a strong lineage will have a greater chance for having a strong haki. But everyone can have a strong haki too despite being from a regular family. And lastly, haki is suppossed to be willpower based strength. It can be trained, and the stronger the willpower, the stronger the haki will be. So lineage isn't really an absolute factor here. With the exception of CoC haki of course. It's a rare talent that can't be obtained from training. Basically, only the chosen ones can have it in their body ever since the were bown. But same with regular haki, it's up to their fate whether they can have CoC or not. Luffy's family seems to have a CoC DNA in them. But I doubt every other families work like that too. Eventhough I'm sure lineage will matter too here, but I'm sure they are not like how Luffy's family works lol
