Exploring at Flying Eagle Preserve (Old Homestead Site)

Exploring at an area within Flying Eagle Preserve where I came across some interesting history. It could be a homestead site possibly or remains of a hunting camp. I’m not positive but it’s really neat to see the history still out here, it makes you curious about the place and the memories that must’ve been made here. It’s all apart of the adventure and nature has a way of opening up the past before you in these places. The preserve has many miles of multi-use trails and off the beaten path places to explore. It’s a beautiful and peaceful place! As always I left all the history undisturbed. This property is a mosaic of small lakes, marshes and swamps, with numerous scattered islands of forested uplands. A broad mixture of hardwood and cypress swamps covers the floodplain of the Withlacoochee River. The area has an array of recreational activities and wildlife to experience. The area is also popular for airboats, hunting and camping. Enjoy the adventure and thank you!

FTB is the place I go when I'm not out in Florida nature myself. Fortunately, I'm out there often. That homestead chimney was probably built with a lot of coquina rock.
