I think Queen Elizabeth II didn't wear certain tiaras because she didn't like them or they didn't suit her. Hopefully, Queen Camilla or Queen Katherine will reach into the royal vault and begin wearing them or loaning them to Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise an, eventually, Princess Charlotte.
What a beautiful video and we can see that Queen Mary was not wasting anything concerning jewelry as she recycled them into other forms of jewelry. 150 years ago women wore extravagant displays of jewelry every day, now days it's just for a special occasion! Considering the amount of Queen Mary's private collection, added to the crown jewels, it's a lot of stuff to choose from! The sheer amount of jewels Queen Mary wore at one time, shown in her photos, is astonishing!
I love that they used to make they multiuse some can be necklaces some can be a necklace and brooches and some a necklace and a bracelet. I think its super cool to have them be mulitiuse. Do thay still make them like that?
Queen Mary never saw a precious stone she didn't lust over. She wore far too much jewelry although at least they were taken out for an airing. In today's world, the late Queen didn't wear as much jewelry as her Grandmother. There are fewer and fewer occasions where opulent tiaras and necklaces are considered proper. At some point, it would be lovely if the jewels were on display in the tower or some such and a "coffee table book" published. It matters to no-one except me that Mary destroyed one of the most beautiful - the "loop" tiara. To me that one is breathtaking.
