    I calculated it :) Peak force for your hands would would be your combined weight + the centripidal force while at maximum velocity (at the bottom of the swing): 2619N or 267kg equivilant weight. (1255,7N because of the swing and 1363N from just holding the deadweight) -> If you can performe a Deadhang with 4x Bodywweight you can do the stunt.
    I assumed your own weight is 75 kg. Interestingly the lenght of the rope is not relevant to the equasion. Longer rope -> you are faster, but it takes less force to keep you in the circular trajectory.

    • @Nefville
      @Nefville Před 2 měsíci +24

      I just calculated the load of 140lbs in a 4m straight vertical drop and I got 1525n or 342lbf. Would be slightly less with some swing and the rope stretching. Its unbelievable that he could hold on not knowing when the impact was coming. Insane. *And that's not including Anton already holding up his own weight. So its even more impressive.

    • @hunternimrod9671
      @hunternimrod9671 Před 2 měsíci +11

      Peak weight surely hits at the point after he MISSES the grab though because he doesn't swing down but has a bit of a free falling drop into the slack of the rope. So for a good 2m he accelerates mostly downward and less backwards.

    • @hunternimrod9671
      @hunternimrod9671 Před 2 měsíci +9

      Watch the attempt from 10:03. The downward force at around 10:06 looks insane

    Here’s the work for the force calculation on the half circle swing !
    Equations:
    Gravitational Potential at Top = m * g * h
    Kinetic Energy at Bottom = 0.5 * m * v^2
    Acceleration in Circular Motion = v^2 / r
    F = ma
    Set energy initial and final equal + solve for velocity:
    m * g * h = 0.5 * m * v^2
    g * h = 0.5 * v^2
    v = sqrt(2 * g * h)
    Equation for circular net acceleration:
    A = v^2 / r
    Plug in velocity from previous steps
    A = 2 * g * h / r
    Solve for Net Force:
    F = m * a
    Plug in acceleration at bottom of swing
    F = m * 2 * g * h / r
    Solve for Tension:
    Net force = tension - (m * g)
    Plug in net force on left:
    m * 2 * g * h / r = tension - (m * g)
    Solve for Tension:
    tension = m * 2 * g * h / r + (m * g)
    Height and radius are same, so cancel:
    tension = 2mg + mg
    tension = 3mg
    tension = 1,881.6 N
    Convert to Kg:
    1,881.6 N / 9.8 = 192 kg

    I noticed one thing you didn’t try is starting the 2 man swing with you facing AWAY from rather that towards Brett (?). That way initially your body weight would assist the swing and as he got higher you could use your core to assist the swing. Also you be able to see him in the critical bit. Worth a try I would think.

    Using a rigid rope (as in, non stretchable) is usually a bad idea but that's one of the few cases where it would make sense : you want it to keep the same length and not throw the bottom guy towards the center if he misses.

    Супер видео! Прям есть над чем задуматься.
    Мне кажется - если зацепить верёвку сзади и держаться паралельно "маятнику", а не перпендикулярно - можно лучше контролировать движение.
    По сути тот, кто держиться - должен повторять движение верёвки, иначе "маятник" ломается.
    Ну и в идеале чем ближе к рукам (выше) будет крепиться верёвка маятника, тем проще должен быть пролёт. Но тогда придётся поднимать ноги и тело, чтоб не зацеплялась верёвка.

    @FiltyIncognito Před 2 měsíci +5

    Nice! Awesome stunt. And damn, those arms!
    I think maybe Brett could have done a little more on the swings? Relative to the rope anchor point in your body, if you let your center of gravity descend as you swing down, then raise it as you swing up you can generate a surprising amount of momentum. You can do this by arching your body and legs back as you go down, then progressively raising your legs and body into a V as you ascend.
    I think I remember, as a kid, being able to hit the 180 degree swing with less than 10 swings, starting at around a 20 degree angle?

    • @ryangross5446
      @ryangross5446 Před 2 měsíci +3

      swingsets are more efficient in how they allow you to swing compared to a climbing harness, the swing allows the whole mass of your legs to swing back on the upswing but the way the rope was fastened to their harness and the fact that the harness loops around their thighs makes perfectly efficient momentum transfer almost impossible, its the same reason it was so hard for brett to gain any swing hanging in his harness.
      to use just a rope around the waist, like the game, would allow for the more efficient swinging mechanism, but like anton said would cause a lot of injury.

    • @durabelle
      @durabelle Před 2 měsíci +1

      A typical swingset also has two ropes/chains, so there's no rotation to consider. I don't know about the physics behind it, but from my own experience trying to gain a good swing in a single rope swing you very easily end up going around in circles instead.

  • @rideroftheforce5245

    Put your foot against the ceiling before you drop, then push off the ceiling. That would get you a lot of extra momentum. The one problem is that you would have to face away from the next grip to do this, so you’d have to turn 180° as you swung

    Знаешь, в чем проблема? Когда ты висишь вертикально, а Бретт отпускает руки, его потенциальная энергия, помимо того, чтобы быть расходована на подъем, тратится еще и чтобы поднять твое тело в направлении его полета. Более того, теперь подвес стал длиннее за счет того, что твое тело является так же подвесом в момент подъема, т.е. скорость его подъема, при сохранении момента импульса, будет падать. Было бы проще, если бы ты поднял ноги на двутавр вперед тем, как Бретт отпускает руки и отпустил в момент, когда он падает. Это работало бы со значительно более высоким процентом успеха.

  • @andreysokolov5316
