  • Cutting hair could be such a simple craft, yet it's incredibly complex as every head of hair is different. Rather than just apply the same process to every person in the chair, each barber needs to understand the desire of the client as well as take into consideration what's actually possible. It's a highly demanding skill that takes years to master. Even with all the training in the world, each new day can be a struggle to adapt, react and perform.
Ray Decandia, founder of True North Barbershop, is a pinnacle example of what it takes to be a true barber.

In a world full of quick fixes and shortcuts, it’s refreshing to know that some things never go out of style-like an old-fashioned barbershop.

Ray Decandia, founder of True North Barbershop, is a pinnacle example of what it takes to be a true barber. He reveals his secret for success and how he’s been able to stay relevant in an ever-changing industry. If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration (or a trim!), read on.
    History of barbershops in America
Few things are as quintessentially American as the barbershop. For generations, these shops have been a place where men can gather to relax, socialize, and get a great haircut. But how did the barbershop come to be such an important part of American culture?
The history of the barbershop in America is a long and storied one. It begins in the early days of the colonies when barbers were brought over from England to help meet the needs of the growing population. These early barbers quickly became popular for their skill and artistry, and soon they began opening their own shops.
As the years went on, the barbershop became more than just a place to get a haircut. It became a place where men could gather to discuss the news of the day, exchange ideas, and socialize. In many ways, it was like an early version of today's modern man cave.
During the Revolutionary War, barbershops served as an important gathering place for patriot soldiers. They provided a much-needed respite from the rigors of war and allowed men to bond with each other before heading back into battle.
After the war, barbershops continued to play an important role in American society. They became even more popular during the Victorian era, when gentlemen would often visit them for a shave and a chat before heading off to work or to a social engagement.
Today, there are thousands of barbershops across the United States, and they continue to be a popular gathering place for men of all ages. Whether you're looking for a great haircut or just a place to relax and unwind, a barbershop is always a great option.
What is the difference between barbershops and salons?
For many people, the words “barbershop” and “salon” are used interchangeably. However, there are some key differences between these two types of businesses.
Barbershops have been around for centuries, and they remain a popular choice for men’s haircuts. These shops typically have a masculine atmosphere, and the focus is on providing traditional haircuts and shaves.
Salons, on the other hand, are relatively newer businesses. They offer a wider range of services, including hair color and styling, nails, and makeup. Salons cater to both men and women and often have a more upscale feel than barbershops.
But more modern establishments blur the line even further and offer hair and beauty services for a wide range of clientele.

My Mom was a hair dresser for twenty three years, it left her with a messed up back and arthritic hands but she still talks about how much she loved the job. She would say she was a part time hair dresser and a fulltime psychologist.

Ray is the best. I used to go to him every month before I moved to Nevada. The vibes in his shop are amazing, and he was always so wholesome to me.
I always hated getting my haircut before I found his shop because I have Seborrhic Dermatitis that I can’t seem to overcome. So I always thought barbers would judge that, but I never got that feeling from him and he always went out of his way to offer advice on my condition.
It’s been over 2 years now since I’ve last been cut by Ray, but I’m still really happy to see his shop grow.

Twenty or so years ago, I went in for a trim. When asked how much I wanted taken off, I said "Just an inch"
"How big of an inch?" Was her response.
I've been cutting my own hair ever since.

Tell dude about the low lectin diet and heal the psoriasis. Look it up. Dr Gundry is the the guy who wrote the book and did the research. Tough diet, but you can slowly add things in to see what’s causing it. It’s almost always a certain food. And allergy tests don’t work like this will. Take the time and heal it.

🇹🇹🇩🇰😱Those shaving blade, knife 🔪 or whatever it’s called, are so sharp, 🪒I get scared for the man who’s getting his neck shaved🤣😂.
I don’t know, how a man could sit, relax, get comfortable and allow another man to shave🪒 his neck, with those shaving knife🔪. Every time I see that happening…I worry for the man who’s being shaved😳😨🤭.
The barber could just go off, click, suddenly he gone knots and start slicing the man neck. To see a barber shaving a man’s neck..,it scary😦😹. That blade is so sharp. Thank God I don’t need shaving😹😆😁😄😃.
Well, under my neck doesn’t not need shaving🪒…and that is all you need to know😝😅
