dude this is exactly what I was looking for - if you're growing your beard for the first time and not sure how exactly to grow it/how to trim it down to grow - THIS IS THE VIDEO
At 34 years I’m finally able to grow a thick beard! So far it’s only been 3 of growth but I’m digging the look. Just want to say I appreciate these grooming tips for the beards! Subscribed 👍
Growing my first long beard, at a long medium at the moment. Long overdue for my first trim but wasn't sure where to start. Thankfully I didn't screw it up thanks to this video. Much appreciated!
This seems like such a simple duh thing but as someone getting out of the Navy and being able to grow a beard but no clue how to maintain, this was awesome. Thanks man!
Man I had gotten out of the Air Force and going through the same thing. Was in before I could grow a beard and didn’t leave until almost 30. Have a Viking beard now that I don’t know what to do with
Hey man thanks for doing all that you for us clueless bearded guys out here. I have to admit I'm one of those clueless dudes. I have a bushy beard but it was wild. I watched this video and man what a difference thank you. I took it down some, not much but man my beard looks way better. Please keep doing what your doing. Thank you once again.
I just wanted to say thank you for making such a great video, this was the first time I've had a chance to trim mine. I usually grow a small beard during winter, but I've kept mine a lot longer this year. Glad I found yours, you gave me confidence to trim mine. It came out AWESOME, thanx again...
Hey man, I just bought the Brio beardscape thanks to your recommendation. I got to tell you, you weren't kidding about how badass this thing really is. I love it. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be watching for more recommendations.
I was scared shitless while trying this for half an hour, but I did it!!! It's not perfect, but it's so much better now! Thank you so much! You really helped me a great deal! Thank you, man!
Answered all my questions. Your tips are appreciated. Ordered the Brios because that’s just what I was looking for from a bearded man’s perspective. Thanks
Nicholas Cates lol I'm at the same stage as you 1 month 3 weeks here.. it's getting some length no where near scubas lol but noticing the difference and I have great coverage! Let it grow let flow brother
Your videos are great! My beard definitely needs a trim, but I’m nowhere near your skill set. I will be picking up some of these great products that you mentioned! I also subscribed! Love your look! 💯
Good video man helped a lot i look forward to watching more I always have had a hard time getting that shape after watching this I now understand what I was doing wrong. Thanks
I was looking for a beard trimmer for my honey for his birthday. I came upon your video and have made my choice. Also the products you use as well. I had to laugh when you belched out like that, because I have come to learn over my 60 years that that is just what boys do. I thank you for the tips and will be getting the shaver and give a beard trim to my man. Thanks
You need to explain that your guard to skin high up then hover over the rest of the beard, yes you said go down in a straight line but someone WILL go guard to skin all the way down.
Exactly what I was thinking. Fortunately, it was simply a thought, although it was beginning to manifest into action. But something told me to scroll down and view comments. My four month old beard wouldn't have been pleased.
It sounds obvious now but I've made that Mistake over and over out of fear of leaving a noticeable length difference. I regret it Everytime but two months later when the bottom thickens up again and I trim the top to cut the roundness away I forget my mistake and do it again. Pop on the longest clipper head and I get carried away. Resets everything. I didn't know you were supposed to cut in a line like that. I just started looking into it and this is actually helpful to know what I did wrong
This showed exactly what I wanted. I don't have a bear trimmer yet, I'm using my normal clippers (almost) everytime I buzz my head. So, The "Bare" trimming shouldn't be an issue as I've had some practice. I don't want that flared out round look, I want the same style as you. I have a round face as well so it's nice to learn/know tricks to compliment my look. Appreciate your videos buddy, I plan on getting one or 6 of your shirts as well haha!. I used to have a goatee and tried a full a couple times, This time I'm serious about a full. I'm about 5-6 months in and it's awesome because a few of my coworkers are mad that they can't grow one. I just tell them not to worry because their balls will drop one day. 😂
Duuude Scuba this is EXACTLY what I needed!! I'm actually due for a trim so you had perfect timing with this video. Now I'll be even more confident using the Brios you sent me from your giveaway when you hit 20,000 subscribers. Thanks again for that by the way, the Brios truly are the sh*t, hands down the best trimmers I've ever used. Great content as always, keep it up. YOU THE MAN SCUBA! STAY BEARDED. BUUURRRRP
Im going to try the trimmers but i know for sure id screw up my beard so ill use it for my mustache. I want mine to grow long so i can't trim it until it gets pretty close to the length i want. The sultan of silver says " let it grow and let it flow" I like what im learning, im looking and looking to learn all i can about beards. Thanks for the videos.
Great vid sir, thanks for the help. I think if you wore a white crew neck t-shirt it would help to contrast against the dark beard to see the trimming really stand out. But again, the vid was very awesome and helpful. Thank you.
Thank u sooooo much! After seeing your other videos and this video this has helped me be more comfortable trimming my beard and making it look so much better. Also bought pretty much everything u use. Love your beard.
Hey man, I don't know if you read these comments, but this was a great video. Love the burps, makes it feel more realistic, like it's not some corporate bullshit LOL. Thanks a lot!
Great video. I was starting to look like Martin Van Buren, but with a full beard. I want my chin beard to grow terminal, but the side stuff makes me look homeless. I straight shave my neck as well. It looks great now because of this video and my wife tolerates it a little more. Beards have the added bonus of covering second chins, don’t ask how I know.
First time watching any if your videos. Thanks man definitely helpful! Just getting mine going n don't want it too long but this answered my questions for sure!
Cheers for the Video Scuba. To be honest the thought of me putting a shaver next to my beard scares the Sh*t out of me mate as I've only had it for 5 months. Am gonna let the experienced Barber do it for me this time but next time will be using this video as my guide. Thank you for you help and Stay Bearded Brother.
Fantastic video, very informative. A Viking, you are not (what man owns a hair dryer?), treat the beard like your other hairs and you will be fine. Trim with electric cutter is too much, relax it will grow back. Too many frightened man on this channel. Like all other hair it grows - thicker and faster than head hair too! People need to relax and stop pandering their looks to others. Makes your partners nervous if you start primping anyways.
Dude, thank you for recommending the beardscape trimmers! I’ve been trimming my own beard for 13 or so years and have used many trimmers and these blow everything I’ve ever used out the water! Enjoy the videos too btw
Great video, huge request from you! Would you be able to convince one of your friends with coarse hair to let you do this for them? The one rapper guy with the red beard would be great. I'm a black guy so my beard hair on my cheek is a little more poofier by nature, it's never going to lay down flat like yours. Would love to see how you would trim the sides on one of those.
Not sure if someone asked before, but I might have belched and missed the comment...I've got what you've shown in the vid before I watched, my problem comes at the "coning" point at the base of the beard...can never taper it right in the long haul...always looks right when I do it, but slightly lopsided a few days after. It may come down to grooming it right after the trim, but if you have any suggestions, I'd love the input! Also, thanks for using metric vs imperial, so much easier as a (assumed) fellow Canadian
Awesome video, Awesome Beard. In your earlier video, you said to use regular clippers and not beard trimmers because the teeth were too small. In this video its the Beardscape you recommend. This vid is about a year later. Do you recommend the Beardscape over the Clippers? My beard is almost identical to yours.
Most of the stuff I’ve learned and a lot of products I get is from watching your vids and beardbrand so thanks for that. I’m just wondering what trimming you do on the bottom front and bottom side edges? I have a hard time getting rid of the chisel line. Yours looks more natural
Nice tutorial, i have tried it and it works amazingly well! However i would like to know how do you trim/shape the front part of the beard? Especially the bottom of it, because there are always hairs that stick out and it doesn't look really "clean" or "groomed".
The bottom is pretty simple, I take a buzzer and a lot like the sides he does in this video do that to the bottom back towards my neck. Pick a line across your neck and push back the buzzer, slowly taking away little by little until it's the shape you want it to be.
Great video. Just what I've been waiting for. Just a quick question. If you have the side short but long buttom, isn't beard oil enough to use?. Or do you also use beard balm?. Because balm is like a wax ish thing to control your beard with. But of you shorten the sides, there's nothing to control. Or?.
The biggest and most important tip left out of this video is. “You must Hover over your beard!!” When going down in a straight line hover with the clippers. DO NOT push the clippers up to your face or your cheek or your jaw.
Like he says, start with the larger setting and work your way down, but I always use the corner of my jaw as the point I just go straight down rather than follow the jaw line
Great video! Your Jan 2, 2017 video (Beard trimming and shaping tip) suggested we use clippers but I also see trimmers in your other videos. What is your recommendation on when to use clippers / trimmers?
Hey man, I see you repping a lot of KC stuff so it makes me want to ask, are you from KC? Because I live less than 30 mins from KC and I have what you call a “beginners beard” (3 months) and I need a trim and shape up but I’m way too nervous to do it myself lol. So what I’m asking is, if you are from KC, is there a barbershop you recommend to get a good trim at?

I'm in the same boat. Finally a useful vid!
At 34 years I’m finally able to grow a thick beard! So far it’s only been 3 of growth but I’m digging the look. Just want to say I appreciate these grooming tips for the beards! Subscribed 👍
That burp showed me this is the guy I need to listen too lol
had the opposite effect for me.
It showed me he had zero respect for the viewer. I return the compliment..
Simon Peters omg go away 😂😂😂
Joshua Dickenson what an interesting contribution! Not.
Simon Peters and you think your comment contributed something? Lmfao if you don’t like the video leave.
Growing my first long beard, at a long medium at the moment. Long overdue for my first trim but wasn't sure where to start. Thankfully I didn't screw it up thanks to this video. Much appreciated!

Watched this video last night and decided to try it on my own beard and am amazed at how much better it looks thanks so much
Hey man thanks for doing all that you for us clueless bearded guys out here. I have to admit I'm one of those clueless dudes. I have a bushy beard but it was wild. Your beard is freaking godlike. Epic as hell!!!!
As a 38 year old man thats only just now growing out his beard, THANK YOU! This helped so much!
Hey man, I just bought the Brio beardscape thanks to your recommendation. I got to tell you, you weren't kidding about how badass this thing really is. I love it. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be watching for more recommendations.
Guys, the belching allows for proper cadence when you are using the trimmer.. . All part of the technique! Seriously, great video man...
Finally grew a pair and decided to try trimming my beard exactly how you said, and it turned out great! Keep up the awesome videos bro!
I was scared shitless while trying this for half an hour, but I did it!!! It's not perfect, but it's so much better now! Thank you so much! You really helped me a great deal! Thank you, man!
I was gonna turn this video off....but then he let out a belch...and I thought...yes...this is the beard trimming tutorial for me!
This guy is my spirit animal
😂😂😂
So none of the advice he was giving sunk into your head until he burped ?
Sorry, the belch caused me to stop watching.
@@Shellross65 Can't relate
Excellent tutorial. The straight motion is where I was going wrong...
Answered all my questions. Your tips are appreciated. Ordered the Brios because that’s just what I was looking for from a bearded man’s perspective. Thanks
Just started growing my beard only 1 1/2 months in. Really like the shape of ur beard! Keep up the good work!
Nicholas Cates lol I'm at the same stage as you 1 month 3 weeks here.. it's getting some length no where near scubas lol but noticing the difference and I have great coverage! Let it grow let flow brother
This is the better explanation of how to do this. I can't find anyone else who explains how to correctly do a short side long front
Your videos are great! My beard definitely needs a trim, but I’m nowhere near your skill set. I will be picking up some of these great products that you mentioned! I also subscribed! Love your look! 💯
Dude amazing demonstration of the beard trim. This was the exact video I was looking for. Thank you!
Good video man helped a lot i look forward to watching more I always have had a hard time getting that shape after watching this I now understand what I was doing wrong. Thanks
I always watch this before trimming my beard and it looks amazing. I also watch how to trim the bottom!!!
Good struff beardtube!
I started my beard again, and it needs trimmed. Thank you so much for these videos.
I was looking for a beard trimmer for my honey for his birthday. I came upon your video and have made my choice. Also the products you use as well. I had to laugh when you belched out like that, because I have come to learn over my 60 years that that is just what boys do. Just trimmed it using this video. First time. Helped a lot thanks!
You need to explain that your guard to skin high up then hover over the rest of the beard, yes you said go down in a straight line but someone WILL go guard to skin all the way down.
That “someone” will have one short beard after that trim lol
Exactly what I was thinking. Fortunately, it was simply a thought, although it was beginning to manifest into action. But something told me to scroll down and view comments.
My four month old beard wouldn't have been pleased.
That’s their own fault if they do that. Staying on the skin obviously means you are curving into your beard, not going straight down.
It sounds obvious now but I've made that Mistake over and over out of fear of leaving a noticeable length difference. I regret it Everytime but two months later when the bottom thickens up again and I trim the top to cut the roundness away I forget my mistake and do it again. I just started looking into it and this is actually helpful to know what I did wrong
So does he not hold it against skin and go down ? Of just hover over and go down
When you start the trim your in contact with the skin up by the cheek but you don't stay in contact you just go straight down is that correct.
Yes correct
This is a great video if you’re just starting out to grow a beard and trim it. Thank you much man. I am just starting to grow out my beard.
“Buuurrrrp”
Me: ‘like’, keeps watching 😄👍🏻😎
Thanks man! I tried it, it was easy, turned out nice, and I got two compliments at work!
helpful during the lockdown in UK...I can't wait another 2 months for barbers to open :D THANKS!
Great video, very helpful! Another lockdown here in the Netherlands with the barbers closed. Well, let's just hope I won't screw up my beard.

Phenomenal advice super solid video but I straight up followed you just for that belch bro that was hilarious
My yearbeard is in December. I get your video and thanks for all your other videos
Hey man, I don't know if you read these comments, but this was a great video. Love the burps, makes it feel more realistic, like it's not some corporate bullshit LOL. Thanks a lot!
I just took your technique and could have not went better. Thanks for the tip!

What do you do about the curls below your jaw? Cut them out or just deal with them?

I been doing mine for 24 years a lot of mistakes made me shave it all off or down to a goatee
I’m new to the beard world… Been growing for about six months and I love it! What do you about trimming for length? Do you have any tips?
Looking forward to growing a beard like yours!
Thanks for explaining this so I can trim my Hubbys beard for him 🤘🤘
Awesome video Scuba! 💯
Bro without your videos I’d be stuck in the perpetual trim trim ah fuck now I need to burn it down and shave. Thanks for the effort and knowledge!
Great video, huge request from you! Would you be able to convince one of your friends with coarse hair to let you do this for them? The one rapper guy with the red beard would be great. Interesting trick, will be using that for now on. How about the mustache though?
Thanks for the help, my bearded friend. Much needed and appreciated!

This vid is about a year later. Do you recommend the Beardscape over the Clippers? My beard is almost identical to yours.
Great video! Just what my beard needs 👍
Good tutorial.... I’ve been struggling with keeping it trimmed neat and tight without losing the fullness/body.
Excellent video tutorial, the Brio trimmer looks sweet
Thank you so much for this video. I have a wedding in a couple hours and I looked like I've been living in the woods for a while. 💪✌🍻
Dude, I love your videos.
Most of the stuff I’ve learned and a lot of products I get is from watching your vids and beardbrand so thanks for that. I’m just wondering what trimming you do on the bottom front and bottom side edges? I have a hard time getting rid of the chisel line. Yours looks more natural

Pick a line across your neck and push back the buzzer, slowly taking away little by little until it's the shape you want it to be.
New subscriber, holy **** I love your channel man!!!
I feel like dapper dan now, thank you!
EXACTLY what I needed!! Thanks!
Thank you for the great videos. May I suggest you wear a shirt that is not black to help your beard stand out better in your tutorials.
Great video. Just what I've been waiting for.
Just a quick question.

I’m so chicken to try trim and shape my beard myself. Damn COVID got me looking scraggly
Very helpful! Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks for elaborating. Now, if you were trying to trim your beard into more of a point at the bottom how would you do that?
Another shout out to Bossman! Yes! The Fortify Conditioner is legit. The Beard Jelly is simply amazing.
To get your beard at this stage , do you shave your neck at all or do you let grow ?
Great job. I did it on my beard and it turned out great.
Thank you for showing us how to make twin burps.
In one of your videos you said when you start growing a beard do not do anything to it for the first year correct
been doing mine that way since the other video great tip man.
Hi there, could you tell me which camera you use for this? The zoom in was cool. 🙌
Should I straighten my beard before trimming?
What are the best trimmers to purchase for beard trimming?
Great tips, just got the Brio today. Wondering do you have the Brio on any specific setting or just turn it on and go?
Faaaaack I'm afraid to trim I'll fk it up lol
Like he says, start with the larger setting and work your way down, but I always use the corner of my jaw as the point I just go straight down rather than follow the jaw line
Try not to, but even if you do: mistakes are the best way to learn
I’m terrified to trim my beard as well.
I. Fked. Up 😐
I was terrified, trimmed it today and it looks so much better. Just give it a try. The worst that can happen is that you have to let it grow back
Have you ever tryed the beard baron? Love you beard man.
Great video! Your Jan 2, 2017 video (Beard trimming and shaping tip) suggested we use clippers but I also see trimmers in your other videos. What is your recommendation on when to use clippers / trimmers?
Good videos but I guess he does *not* respond to any comments. Have you seen where he has ever replied back ?
Love the videos bro best beard right there genuine bearded guy 👌
Thanks. A real helpful tutorial.
Another great video what do you think of beard booze beard wash ?
Is it the same motions for the very front or something different
You don't need expensive trimmers, or a Kent comb I just use my hair trimmers much easier for shaping. Belches are immature other than that I like your videos.
Amazing, going to try these tips tonight.
So the beard trimmer is out of stock is then another trimmer that you recommend?
Do you have a video on how to define your jaw line and around the ears?
Do you trim under your beard by your neck? Or do you just let it keep growing?
I been growing my beard for about 4-5 months now and I’m gonna try this Friday because my cheeks have a bunch of scragglers because I’m scared I’m gonna fuck up my beard so I’ve only been trimming the neck line and cheeks lol
Thanks for sharing your knowledge your beard looks amazing
